  • In this video I explain, step by step, how to complete an Attendance Allowance form. This may be useful if you are completing a form for another person or completing it for yourself. Remember if you are having difficulty with completing your form try and find out about services local to you that may provide one to one support with this, such as Age UK, Alzheimer's Society, Macmillan, Stroke Association, Citizens Advice Bureau etc.
    This process can be complex and confusing while dealing with emotions or health issues.
    For more information on my services and how I can support you please head over to my main site www.talktostu.co.uk

    Thank you so much for posting this! With your help my husband filled in the form for me, sent in my most recent medical reports and I’ve heard today I have been awarded Attendance Allowance at the higher rate. Your post was invaluable at pointing out how best to answer the questions and keep the information to the salient points. We are both very grateful.

    Just wanted to say a really big thank you for doing this video. I watched all the way through twice and made lots of notes to help me remember when filling the form in. I applied for attendance allowance 5 years ago and got turned down flat. My condition is exactly the same but I decided after watching your video to try reapplying which I did using all the tips you give. Long story short I submitted my application and 2-weeks later I got an acceptance letter back telling me that I am able to full attendance allowance day and night. Thank you once again and anyone reading this even though this video is about 45 minutes long it is well worth sitting through it and doing your form how exactly as he says. I'm proof that it works a treat. This new amount of money will help me pay for help I really need now.

    A very big thank you Stuart, I have been awarded the higher rate of attendance allowance. I really appreciate the emphasis on detailed information you advised upon. I really broke down each and every aspect of my inability to care for myself, how I needed help in all most every aspect of daily life due to my chronic diseases and very poor mobility. I have received payment from early September 2022 to 20th December 2022? It took a long time as It wasn’t possible for various agencies to visit us in the time frame given in which to return the claim forms. Therefore we started logging each day as it occurred. We had to add additional information, probably anA4 sheet for each question. I felt like giving in , but as you said there is no limit as to the extra information you can give to clarify how you personally are affected by your illnesses . I cannot quite believe it.
    Thanks again. This will help us so much as we have been purchasing equipment/ aids constantly.

    Thank you. We watched your video before submitting my husband’s application for Attendance Allowance. We printed off a copy to read it through and prepare ourselves before requesting the form. I rang up on 08/01/2024, the form arrived the next day. My husband’s first payment arrived in his bank on 03/03/2024, he was awarded the higher rate. This will make a big difference to us since our income wasn’t quite covering our out goings. I just want to encourage other people in a similar position to us, just do it! I just want to add that we were not applying under the special rules so his claim was not fast tracked.

    Thank you so much after applying for my elderly mother by watching your video she has now received the allowance. and now hopefully I can apply to be a carer for her. On another note this system that has been placed for these benefits is truly horrendous. God help people on universal credit I've seen work coaches literally treat people like they're rabid dogs and some claimants that should not be in any Jobcentre as they're unbelievably ill and are told they're fit for work after overturning there fit notes by a private paid company.

    Just to add you if you need to send supporting evidence with your form for eg , power of attorney docs, medical letters, then take it to your local job centre, they can certify the supporting evidence is a true copy and the job centre can send the form and evidence for processing

    Thank you! Went through the form and through the video bit by bit as I progressed from question to question and this video is very helpful, took me a few days to complete.
    Can't explain how much it helped... Drudging through old forms/letters and so on was a pain and took me ages, medical records, reports and things I thought were lost and you soon discover missed things and stuff people pass off as nothing and in the end of the day it isn't; like the falls and stumbles. Copying all said evidence and making a copy of the finished form for my own records is recommended.
    In truth, the Q50 extension on information you can add is only that one page (as you stated). I had to make several copies of that, about 11 pages to be added on so for people without scanners or printers also making a 1:1 copy is going to be hard for them, but simple lined paper is great.
    Now I'd advise people as you stated to apply through the phone if possible as you will get back dated upon being granted the Allowance from the day you ordered the form.
    Again a thousand thank you!!! Stay safe.

    Kinda off subject, but any advice for a documented extremely disabled 58yr lady with several post cancer pain issues & other disorders that leave me bedridden x6 yrs now? I live in FL & applied 4yrs ago for disability but IRS doesn’t show I have enough earned working credits! Well, stage 3 aggressive cancer & daily radiation, chemo, etc kinda did me in, for starters, then side effects started & I’m now in wheelchair or in bed 24/7 bcuz permanent nerve damages from cancer, & can no longer sit/stand/walk more than few steps unassisted. Years of necessary medical expenses have wiped out my savings too!
    I’ve worked most of my life & filed taxes, BUT having rental properties & trucking biz & Road mechanic biz, my accountant advised me not to pay myself or claim taxes bc it’d be awash!? Now I’ve apparently acted on bad advice!! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤬
    TY for ANY helpful advice, BLESSINGS!!

    As with many in my position, I felt my deafness was a condition not a disability, a personal problem that I have to deal with, so your covering of normality to life changing abnormality is particularly useful for deaf people.

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Carer's Allowance is an Income Benefit so it should not affect your Attendance Allowance payment as it is not Income based. However if you are receiving Pension Credit and get the Severe Disability Premium element added to it (as you get Attendance Allowance) then this could be reduced by the amount claimed in Carers Allowance.

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michael - there is no mobility component for Attendance Allowance / People over 65. If you do not already have DLA/PIP mobility in place before you reach that age then you will not be able to get a mobility payment. It is not a part of Attendance Allowance. That said, if you are struggling with being able to find personal disability specific transport and you are still able to drive it might be worth you speaking with your local SSAFA representative as they may be able to assist with that.

    Do you know about the procedure when a DWP visiting officer visits a claimant in his or her home to fill the Attendance Allowance form for them?

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and this can be very useful for some people, though, as I mention in the video, contacting your local services is often the best port of call as depending on the area the waiting lists for visits from the DWP visiting service can vary and the service you access (Age UK/Macmillan/Social Srrvices etc.) can send in a direct referral to the DWP if required/appropriate.

    • @Bigchurchmusic
      @Bigchurchmusic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StuartMcGoo the DWP arranged the visit in 10 days, so that's good.
      Generally speaking is the DWP officer allowed to help in any way?

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bigchurchmusic They help but they are not as inclined to extract information that the claimant may not see as pertinent (but is), where as an Age UK or specialist support officer is more likely too. Many Age UK offices are classed as an "alternative office" for the DWP so get extra support with filling in forms and are able to provide very detailed advice if someone is unsure whether they might qualify.

    I am still waiting for my AA form from the mail to come through. I have hip osteoarthritis and Is recommended for hip replacement. As it is I am suffering day and night from constant pain but I am being brave and still go to work 4 days a week which requires a lot of walking. I can walk with obvious limping due to pain but has no carer to help with my needs as I can still do cooking and basic housework. What is my chance of getting the AA as I don’t hire or require for now a carer. Thanks

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for your comment and watching the video. It is not a requirement that you have a carer assisting you, just that you would benefit from some kind of assistance with daily living activities. That could be a support rail, an electronic reminder or a person.

    I have a question about the boxes that require a number for "How many times a day". For issues such as motivation to wash. this is a continual issue, so is "All day" acceptable? I can't find any guidance on this.

    • @StuartMcGoo
      @StuartMcGoo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Put an average number that you think reflects what you experience. For washing if you would normally wash twice a day but can't motivate yourself on either occasion, you would put 2.

      @@StuartMcGoo Thank you for your response! It's a continuous battle tbh. Lucky if it happens once a week. So I had put "continuous" "all day". But felt uneasy about how that might be interpreted. This is DWP afterall! I will change this now. Thank you again!

      Hi Kelly, apologies for my delay in responding to you. Unfortunately I am not in a position to help you with this personally but I think it would be a really good idea for me to create a step by step video on how to fill in this form as many people such as yourself find it hard work to fill in. As it is only a short form it wont take me long to do, but due to my other commitments I probably wont be able to get chance to do so this week. That said I will do my very best to squeeze it in and will let you know as soon as it is uploaded. Also it is worth going to your local authority website to see if there are any other organisations local to you that might be able to help you with the form. Most services are over-stretched and have long waiting lists unfortunately, especially at this time of year, but you should not give up.

DWP knows nhs number as well as doctors address. Why so hassle at this ages. It is a bit of out of date. I found it ver irritating annoying managing sick people. I think it is a bit disgrace.
