    150 DSG was a ‘no brainier’ when I bought my 6.1 14 months ago. The whole point was for relaxed cruising over serious distances. And the Radar Cruise as noted in this string makes for the ultimate relaxed long distance travel vehicle. Spend the money!

      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. I originally didn’t like the adaptive cruise, but I like it now.
      What colour did you go for?

    Just bought a t6 DSG..expensive but had manual geared van for years and the DSG is great especially in London

      Much better for the stop start. My next will be DSG 😃

    Good food for thought. I drive manual work vans and my car is automatic (wasn't planned but fell in love with it). My next 'car' is due to be a Transporter to convert so its good to get these opinions to mull over.

      I would definitely drive both yourself to make your decision. Everything is a personal choice. It is more expensive to buy, but also means values hold better.

    DSG and Adaptive Cruise control turns the Transporter into the ultimate cruising machine 👌🏼

      I never used to like the adaptive cruise, but I’m beginning to like it 😀

      @@StaycationLifestyle Same here, I never even had an automatic car before, but the older I get the more I value these things.. and as you say from my T6.1 I don't expect driving engagement and apex calculations, just to get there as relaxed as possible 😊

    watched a few of your videos - love your enthusiasm and professionalism with such informative videos! I was wondering why of all the people who convert vans into little homes on wheels to live in is there a reason why no one is converting a DSG Automatic van?

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much, that lovely of you to say. I imagine a lot are converting on a budget. Many will buy a cheap van and gradually convert. This can often mean the base van they start from is lower spec as they want value for money. The DSG gearbox is more expensive than a manual

    I wasn’t looking for a Auto
    But bought a T 5.1 Auto
    My partner struggles driving a manual due artificial left toe joint . it was a bonus in case she needs to drive the van occasionally. Starting to like auto to now .

    Great informative video 👍 it’s worth it if you can afford it ! I have a 204 bhp with DSG box it’s similar mpg to what you had on longer runs , but be aware , I do lots of shorts runs around town and it only returns 24 mpg around 320 miles per full tank!😮 if fuel cost go up again I will be selling it ! Keep up the good work 👍

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I think I need to take it out again for shorter runs 🤣 MPG is a factor people are considering more with fuel costs, hopefully fuel doesn’t increase again like you say.

    You will never use flappy paddles. I've have them on my Skoda Octivia Vrs the only time I've used them is novelty value.When I just got board driving.We tested the 150 California this weekend liked the gearbox and how smooth the van drove will probably now try a Danbury possibly a Autohaus or Autohaus dsg camper van soon to compare then make are final decision

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Too be honest, I’ve had several cars with paddles and always used them. Everyone is different I guess, hence we all have different choices for campers 😀

      I’ve got a 204ps DSG and getting on average 38-41 mpg out of it but it’s just a panel van and pretty empty.
      Love your videos btw, perfect amount of info in each one. Keep it up!

      You can’t go wrong with either, still great vehicles. What colour have you gone for?

    • @marinejunkies9625
      @marinejunkies9625 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Staycation Lifestyle I didn't really have a lot of choice I could only go for what builds they have left and the spec I went for was.
      150 manual Highline Pure Grey
      LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights (Tailgate) with red tail lights.
      Towbar - preparation (incl. trailer stabilisation)
      2-seater bench on the drivers side and individual seat with Easy Entry feature on the passenger side
      Heated driver and front passenger seats
      OTR 43k.
      I went to leighton vans and loved there full kit with the pure grey so I will be adding there full lvr body kit and there 20 inch Gloss black wheels and side bars then probably a trip to CRS Performance for suspension. I may even ppf the front.

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marinejunkies9625 Good spec, I wouldn’t be disappointed with that myself. The LVR does look good on the Pure Grey, especially with black gloss badges too 😀

      I always used to prefer manual, but the automatics are certainly much better than they used to be.
      Nobody really seems to know. VW still have lots of orders to fulfil, which go into next year, so might not be til much later in the year 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Sorry but the DSG has some very severe problems.
    Drive off is not smooth but very bumpy and jumpy. Very slow drive off is quiet impossible
    Low speed is impossible (if you brake in low speed you loose traction after breaking the gear goes in and the car make an unprediktable jump)
    4x4 driving speed is impossible
    the first gear is much to long - means much to quick for low speed
    the DSG is very sensetive and problematic on long term

    • @StaycationLifestyle
      @StaycationLifestyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pre updated software pulling away can be hesitant, I agree.
      Regarding the other aspects, I think you’ve had a bad experience. Not something I have ever come across in any of the vehicles I have regularly driven.
      The DSG has been around for several years now and been generally reliable.
      I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one.

      Iv got a DSG but in gti club sport mk8 golf
      soon as I had the TCU mapped the difference is night and day
      I would think the same would be for any VW with a DSG
      What I have found with the DSG is problems with different drivers (styles)
