    Man, thank you. A very nuanced and under appreciated song. George was way ahead of his time on this one.

    Great job on this underrated song. It's always been one of my faves. I first heard this one in 1964 when I was 10. It was on the Canadian album release "Beatlemania". You seem quite young to know this so well which is very cool. There are so many young Beatle fans which just shows you how great they were. They broke up 45 years ago and are still gaining new fans. Fab!!!! Thanks for the lesson. SW. Cobourg, Ontario, Canada

    Thank you for this lesson. Nice playing an obscure, deep haunting eerie song by George. Underrated… but I loved it since the first time I heard it when I was twelve. Still one of my favorite song from George. I’m glad you’re carrying his musical legacy to the world. Thanks again, Peace out and keep on rocking. Good looking guitar by the way!!! 👍🏼🤗🥰

    When I first got my drivers license in 1979. I jumped in my '67 Dodge Dart and slapped my 8-track of "Meet The Beatles" into my Realistic car stereo. "Don't Bother Me" was the song that came on as I drove away on my first cruise ....... to work!

    Hoping you'll return to making these vids. They are entirely fab and also quite gear. I appreciate your slowing down what GH does with the chords I'm familiar with, but his Perkins and Atkins spin has been elusive until now. Best wishes in whatever you are doing these days.

    Nice job, good camera angle, love your Gretsch (I didn't know had a 0 fret! My 1st git in 66 was 59 double anni). No BS or showing off, just what's needed. Good on you. I have book "Complete Concise Beatles" which didn't include this.... good to see young guys like you dig Beatles (taste is not dead... yet). Looks like a Dunlop pick to me (for Jose). Guitar Center et al carry them. Well done, thanks

    OK. This is one tune that has to be very carefully listened to to reproduce. Here is what I know about this number: In September of 1963 when this tune was recorded, the guys were still doing what were essentially "live" studio performances. They had four-tracks to work with and there was not a lot of room for overdubbing at this point in time. I believe "Don't Bother Me" is the first tune the Beatles recorded that could truly be called a "production number". That is, there is a lot going on that is overdubbed after the best main performance was completed. John on tambourine, Paul on wood block and the other guys on a packing case (!) and an Arabian bongo. Anyway, Lennon plays everything in the song except for the solo, which is George on his Gretsch. Which one, I am not sure. The Country Gentleman or the Duo Jet? Dunno. What I CAN tell you is that that little Ricky 325 of John's is doing 95% of the guitar work in the song. The 3/4 scale neck (very little sustain) and the "tight", slightly "muffed" tone is much like his "I Want To Hold Your Hand" sound. And the part he plays is FAR more complex than what you are showing. I know. I picked it out note-for-note ages ago when I first started playing back in '84. Paul's part on bass is almost as "busy" as bass parts go. There is A LOT going on in this tune. I have yet to see anybody nail it on YT, or anywhere else for that matter. Why? I do not know. IMHO, this song is GROSSLY underrated and---unfortunately--overlooked. To me, the track is the strongest of all of them on the "With The Beatles" album. Lennon does his best rhythm work with the group here. Really, it is a Lead/Rhythm part. Even the Beatle tribute bands (and some of them are pretty damn good) completely miss the mark with this tune whereas most all of the others they pretty much nail. Weird.

    Excellent, but I believe at 7:37 the note in the solo is a surprisingly jazzy 8th fret on the G string -- but I learned a lot that's not in the books I've purchased. Thanks. Let me know if I'm wrong.

    at 6:22 when you demonstrate what you think George might be doing... My observation is that Lennon might be doing the octave chords because as you said, it is on the top 4 strings, and as you know, Lennon was more akin to playing those 4 string chord shapes (i.e. All My Loving) that's just my assumption though. Great job with the lesson!
    Cheers!!

    The camera angle covers up most of the chord fingering with fingers and knuckles.
    Straight on camera angle to the guitar is better for teaching and learning.

    Thank you for taking the time to explain George's part, however, you're missing a chord. In the chord progression after the intro, you have him sliding up to B, then to A, then to G, and then to basically a Em. That part is correct, But when he goes back to the second time to the B chord at the 7th fret, he goes to an A for one count, (and here is the part you are missing) then a D chord - played simply by the D note at the 5th fret on the 5th string and the F# at the 4th fret on the 4th string for two counts and then to the G.. Other than that, I found your video very helpful.

    • @daynaybaybe
      @daynaybaybe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. I think he just strums the D chord twice, which would be really corny if Ringo accented with him, but Ringo isn't corny. Also John plays arpeggiated major chords in the verse, not single notes as shown in the video. Once I understood that he was basically playing a salsa piano rhythm, it got much easier to play!
