- For the first time in decades, there will be an official PBA Tour video game available on console. PBA Pro Bowling will be launching October 22 on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Steam/PC.
The game includes top PBA pros, a deep career mode with over 100 tournaments, authentic oil patterns, the most advanced bowling physics ever in a video game, commentary from Rob Stone and PBA legend Randy Pedersen and online play. PBA Pro Bowling has everything a bowling fan would want and it’s just $19.99 at launch.
On one hand, I was excited to see they actually put the different lane conditions into the game. On the other, the moment I saw "Powerups," I instantly became more worried.
Pre ordered and downloaded mine last week for 15 bucks.... locked, loaded and ready to play as soon as it’s available! (The fact they got the Motiv Forza on the cover which I own)... did it for me ✌🏾
Where did you pre-order this game and for what video system?
Lolita Wadley I pre ordered already on the Switch (it’s 17.99 if you pay for it early, but I had like 2 dollars in credit so it cost me like 15. It’s already loaded to my system... soon as the game is available I can play it, and will post my thoughts probably here about it afterwards).
If I like it, then I’ll more than likely download it on PS4 too...

Lolita Wadley Check the PlayStation store. I don’t believe they’ll have a hard copy of this game (I would be wrong)... it’ll more than likely be download only. Check the store though and let me know. I know there was a promotion for 2 dollars off if you pre ordered it. I got it on switch vs PS4 for portability purposes (I can play at work lol)

So I have the game now, it didn't look promising through development but the game is actually really good. The fact that there is a different way to play the game (simulation mode) really got me happy. It's exactly what everyone wanted. You set your position, angle, and rotation at the beginning then you let the ball go. And you can't use the special balls. Really the pin sounds and the pro shop menu are the only things copied from the mobile game. Those reasons are why I played the game for 10 hours in one sitting.
If a second game was created with more animations, better bowler graphics, and new pin sounds, that would be the best thing.
Literally the mobile game with a controller now. Smh.

Many people are saying this is basically the mobile version but with a price tag. Personally, I am pretty hyped about this game. When this does get released, I don't have to worry about the stamina system like the Mobile game. I think I'll have a great time with this!

Reading the comments and just adding my .02....
Here’s how the video game (or most) business works. The more the consumers (us) buy a game... the more likely they’ll develop another one.
I don’t think this game is going to be Spider-Man on PS4... because I have realistic expectations.
The fact though that they’re actually making (porting etc) the game based off the sport of BOWLING which I love... for major consoles (we own a switch and a ps4) is why I already bought the game (for switch), and will buy it again (for ps4).
Because if WE show support... then the likelihood of another, better game coming out next year will probably happen.
And lastly like one of the users already commented.... yeah the menus, or certain features may look similar to the mobile game, but the fact still remains is that there are no previews or reviews currently online anywhere of the game, and no ones played it....
So until Tuesday, why all the fuss?
S/N: if it’s not available on initial launch PLEASE to the devs add motion with the switch remote so we can shadow ball again real time (a la Wii Bowling or any other sim). This game would be BOSS if that happens...
irv intelligent this was well put my brotha. And I agree with almost all of it. I feel they played it safe to gauge interest in a bowling game. They saw the last few bowling games on console didn’t hit the mark so they went with wat they knew they had success with instead of innovating a new product. I’m hoping this game is still gonna be at the very least not as easy to strike and spare as the mobile game so it could be fun. That’ll hold me til they make a new game that’ll appease all of us bowling purists lol
Brandon Henry I had Brunswick bowling on the original Wii some years back. That game had its flaw, but it really captured the mechanics of bowling... more so than Wii bowling the game.
I said it earlier they could always update for motion control on this edition... but if not, this would be a good starting point.
I need that game again where it acts as a good shadow bowl/bowling simulator .....something I could work on my form, and still accurately work on placement, speed etc. As souped up technology is today I KNOW they can give us “purists” what we need 💪🏾

I really hate the aiming system. It is so easy to hit the correct spot that a 300 is relatively simple. And non 7-10 splits are also easier now. The aiming system with the finger swiping in Bowling by Jason Belmonte is far superior
Agree, that’s why I do prefer the Belmonte game over the pba game.
I think many haven’t read about the details in PPB. This looks to be the best simulation of the sport I have ever seen, and I own every mobile and console bowling game dating back to Ten Pin Alley on the first Playstation. I know time will tell, but I am encouraged with what appears to be a ton of work put into a bowling simulation.
Belmo's game is a good effort but has horrible pin action. Not to praise this one prematurely but at least the pin action looks better.
@@Incendia I wouldn't say that Belmo's game's pin action is terrible, though it does need some tweaking with the spinning pins, this game is certainly better in that aspect. However in Belmo's game, when you reach to the higher Rev rates and speeds, the difference becomes smaller.

Same in Australia. They didn't have it on the PSN store and all the local game shops don't even stock the physical game either. What a bummer :(

An exact remake of the mobile game except with visible pros, online tournaments, maybe a few new bowling balls that weren’t in the mobile game, and no energy bar because we are actually paying to play the game. This wasn’t worth much of the hype. I’ll probably still buy it but I was expecting better.

Like I said in the other post I like the game so far... I’m playing it on Switch right now. They have motion control settings (so you can use the controller to throw the ball!!)... but it’s kinda iffy right now. Haven’t quite figured it out yet without my ball going under 8 mph (lol).... with using just the joy stick settings I threw 173 out the box.
I’ll have more later, but I can assure you... this is waaaaaay better than the mobile game off my initial reaction.

I just want to know what online tournaments mean? Will I be battling against previous scores that have been made by previous players? Or will I be able to play against people that are live as well? Can a friend & I compete in the same tournament together online?

This doesn't look that much different from PBA Bowling Challenge except that game has no online leaderboard.
I was thinking the same thing. Mobile game just updated with a few new bowlers, alleys, and online. But downgraded graphics. At least you can see your favorite bowler bowling in video game form kinda lol.

Highly disappointed, hoping it was gonna be like the Belmonte game, but it’s just a port of the pba challenge game, which I do enjoy every so often. I will buy this game on my switch. But just to have a decent bowling game on my switch

@@Liquidmetal6661 which is why I like the Tekken 7 bowling mini-game. though of course, in the Tekken bowling game, there's no oil pattern effect so you can literally make the same shot on the same spot and never have a different reaction.

Game is out and as expected it is same as PBA bowling on mobile. Controls are easy. Not awful but definitely need more customization options. Create-a-bowler with controls similar to Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowling would be awesome. Micro transactions kill this game for me and after completing one single player match it took 5 minutes to get back to main menu. Decent game but could have been MUCH MORE.

Edit: Those if you excusing the fact they moved their mobile game to consoles/pc because it’s only $20 is dumb. The mobile app is Free. They only added announcing in the background noise and horrid graphics & player caption motion. I mean I can go on and on but ultimately this game should only be worth playing for like $5-$10. You know they’re gonna add micro-transactions it’s gonna cost you an additional $5-$10 to unlock branded bowling balls (I.E Storm/ RG, EBI, Brunswick & Motiv.)

No power bar? No accuracy bar? Looks like you just point an arrow and push the ball out. Doesnt make you work for it. Still needs alot a work before i consider buying it

I actually wanted to choose play as a PBA bowler character in the game, NOT a default person. The mobile part of the game needs to be taken out. I highly suggest that 2Ksports will be a part of making the next bowling video game.

@@saturation2095 yep. If I'm going to pay a good bit of money for a game, I'd like it to be at least somewhat in depth. Have actual tournaments with 10+ games of qualifying instead of 3. Have an actual stepladder final, etc.

Reece634 There’s a lot more in this then PBA Bowling ON mobile. This actually has commentary, the pinsetters look realistic, and the TV set looks a lot like this too. The players are also in this. So there’s again a lot more in this then the mobile game

It's people who DONT care about pba and dont even know this is an app or much about bowling who will buy this. In not paying 20 dollars for a transfer of a mobile game that I have beaten. The PBa needs to realize that and if they just spent some money they could have made a real nice game.

Okay I had my suspicions but this literally is the mobile game and we are being asked to pay £20 for it just so we can put it on a bigger screen. I’m considering this game already a failure when it comes to ingenuity. This game is a money grab that’s for sure. Give this game the Jason belmonte throwing system from his game and then this game would be good not this controlling spin after its hit the lane nonsense
@@Munzo28 analog sticks, they work on angular actuation which simulates launch angle. They could have done it so how ever fast the analog accelerates from down to up could be the launch speed and revs, and the angle of the analog stick at the release point would be the launch angle. They could also do it so that the longer or shorter you keep the analog stick held at the end of the release, would be how long you either post the shot or follow through! :)
alexaviermunoz _ what i mean here is not to employ the exact system that the game has in terms of throwing the shot the same aiming mechanic designed in this game will function fine. BUT what I’m referring to is the ability to preset your axis rotation, Rev rate and axis tilt before the shot is thrown and you have no control over those variables once the ball is on the lane. I DO NOT agree with giving the player the ability to control how much the ball hooks once it’s on the lane which the term for it can be described as “spin steering”. It removes a large amount of realism and Jason’s games’ method of a preset of what the shot will look like would be a MUCH better system for this game. With spin steering every online game is going to be a battle of who can carry and who will get 279 and who will get 300 because no one will ever miss the pocket whether they threw it down board 19 or board 1
@@Munzo28 you'd line yourself up, just as you have to do irl. Just as you do on bowling by Belmo. Remember, Belmos game was initially 'sold' as a bowling sim. And that had the same lineup mechanics as this game lol. The analog stick dictates the launch angle and inital trajectory down the lane just like the swing arm does. :)

@@Munzo28 ok thanks, but I see that the mobile game is different from this game, definitely far from "literally is the mobile game" the OP is referring to. Perhaps the UI looks the same (with the MPH on the screen and all that) but they have different mechanics, different publisher, different developer. Perhaps there is another version of this mobile game the OP is referring to?
The video game is cute and I like that it has recognizable pro bowlers. But whether bowling, golf, or other sports, video games are a poor substitute for the real thing.

I own this game. Save yourself twenty dollars and just download the free mobile game. Several hours later and the mobile version has better pin carry. "Realistic pin carry" is the biggest lie about this game. Also, what the hell is with not having custom characters? No control over camera angels makes it way too hard to navigate down lane. Consistency was not in the developers vocabulary when they made this game. You can perfectly mimmick the same shot and come up very different results. No I am not talking about needing making an adjustment, or leaving a corner pin too much. Anybody capable of averaging over a 150 would know what I'm talking about.
The bowling balls look childish, the sounds are copy+pasted on each shot, the graphics for a game that is getting released on 2019 is terrible! I just don't see this game being fun. I wish the PBA would actually listen to people like me so they could get some proper advice, but because I am a common folk they don't care. We will see who's laughing when the game is not a successful as they anticipate.

Masao2k I have. We have 9 gaming consoles and 3 VR headsets. I think it’s safe to say we’ve put in our time and with all game genres. Hate on a game you haven’t played if you want, but I choose to wait and play with an open mind. I will be critical AFTER playing if I see something I don’t like

MattBrodure There’s over 200 likes for this video compared to less than 15 dislikes. Many that have decided to post a nasty comment seem to want to hate on a game that they haven’t even played yet. There are actually a lot of people that have been waiting for a good bowling simulation, particularly for play in VR, for quite a while now and we’re hoping this is worth the wait. The hateful comments are uncalled for at this point. I don’t understand why there are so many extremely cynical people out there
