Thank you so much for sharing your research. I always wondered about koi but didn't know much about them. This was really interesting. They are so fascinating and beautiful.
Thank you for the education on these fish. I'm still trying to get a pond business going and watch most all your teams videos. Even have my business name in your system. (Majestic water features and ponds). I've learned so much about construction, hows and whys, things for consideration or needs. And now have a flow chart or the origins on the honorable koi fish. I'm thinking, when I get started, I'll mostly sound like I know what I'm talking about. Thank you again.
This was very cool to learn about. It's too bad that they, after how many years, still haven't gotten to the point where the species is stable and the parents pass the same pattern to their offspring. The entire process still heavily relies on selective breeding to get the beautiful patterns.
Please come fix our community pond In Wheaton. Adare Farms. Ive watched the ponds die over the years.. I collect pond life in jars and mini palladariums. Ive watched the micro fauna diversity just crash. Especially after a water main break dumping millions(?) of gallons of water and neighborhood storm drain what have you in to it one day last year. Makes me sad
@@EdThePondProfessor I'm guessing that waterfall on the fence line with the Hospital grounds? Thats the saving grace of these poor ponds. I live on the one adjacent to Roosevelt. On Gresham. Both ponds are rotting. Ive watched the fauna practically disappear because I take samples every few months an let the pond life live in jars on my windowsill. The last time , last fall, the water was dead except a couple of snails. Been told by neighbors there used to be koi or large Goldies bitd. The fishermen tell me the local pan fish are gone. 😥
Hey there, I thought about your channel when Ben from @TheUrbanRescueRanch YT channel (2.6 millions subscribers) asked his viewers to go out and comment on "some amazing YT pond building channels" in his latest video about asking for help because he wants to build a pond for his animals. I found you on Joseph Carter 's YT channel "the mink man" and thought you did an amazing job. I'll post your handle in Ben latest video comment section.
Ed, if you can contact me in Texas, that would be great. Just leave me a # to call on my e-mail. I have a Koi pond coming up soon and I need your help.
This is one fascinating video of the history of Koi and the process of breeding. Your trip to Japan will be educational.
Thanks for your feedback and support!!!
Never stop Learning……

Very educational. I think some lazy American skipped the nishiki part that makes koi really valuable. Thank you Ed.

That’s a very complex genetic process, I don’t think it will ever change….
