As someone who works in the OR, nothing is guaranteed sterile, even stuff processed in our sterile processing, at a piercing studio, etc. that’s what indicators are for. Most shops will show you the pass/fail strip they throw in the cassette they throw into their autoclave, and we check them in every package in the OR too. “Peel packs” (like real ones not these) can get holes too. Above all, shit happens, we drop stuff, we make mistakes. Sterility is never guaranteed, even in the perfect environment and that’s why piercers and people in the OR got ways to check everything!
Do you have any stuffed animals? Give them piercings with those cheap ones! They don't end up in a landfill, and no one (in theory) catches any strange diseases/infections from them lol
I saw the title and immediately got a snack to watch this, amazon products are not great quality for things that aren't required to be sterile to be safe, nvm things that should be. Also as far as those shitty jewlery pieces go, my vote is to either get a pair of fake elf ears and pierce them (I met a person at my local shop who did that, it looked rad) or as someone else suggested, pierce some stuffies with them! It would be super cute to give nervous people a cute stuffy with piercings to hold while they got theirs done!
Not related to thr video at all, but I just wanted to say thanks. I got my first real piercing studio piercing today and your channel really helped me understand the process and not be too nervous. ❤❤❤
I should say I'm shocked that there's a "pierce yourself at home kit" available on Amazon but at this point? Nothing shocks me 😆 Edit: Seven fucking dollars?!
I understand that getting a piercing done by a professional piercer costs lots of money but you can't put a price on your health and getting this cheap piercing kit is a BIG no-no.
Wow this video was the first time I heard you say your last name, I realized I've been saying it wrong in my head all this time and I don't know how to feel about it
Well, I feel exposed. I got an almost identical kit like this at sixteen, minus one of the clamps and the alcohol wipes. But they had a bag full of uncoated mystery metal. It was way more than you got, and I think I was also missing balls and stuff. I quickly abandoned the gloves because they had no grip, and I think I only cleaned with hydrogen peroxide. It was both my second lobes and I repierced my left one because it was too low. So now my left lobe piercing has a big scar right on top of it. I'm actually shocked I didn't get an infection.
Tha needle has a Bur on it, That's going to tear through the skin instead of cut it. That will make the most painless piercings feel like the worst painful piercing ever. Just awful. I prefer to do my septums sort of free hand. I take the jewelry and align the dots Exactly how I want them both sides, Then I use a triangle focep without rubber band to support the skin. I always insist seeing the needle protruding to my dot for the exact placement. Septum forceps are terrible & leave too much room for error blindly piercing in a tunnel. I have also used a bunch of designs, great idea, just a terrible tool in practice. I never recommend them, In fact I recommend against them. Same with receiving tubes, If I use a receiving tube on on some extremely tough skin, Most of the head of the needle is already poking all the way through, So then using a receiving tube at that point will not change the projectory of the needle & cause a crooked piercing. The Association of Professional Piercers report in their handbook Says vinyl gloves are the worst choice, They have an extremely high failure rate of something like 53%. Of which many are already compromised with small or micro holes before they are even pulled out of the box. For example, How many times have you dyed Someone's hair and those damn gloves broke & you dyed parts of your hands?! Awful. Latex has a 3% failure rate which is a million times better & Nitril had a 0% failure rate last I checked. My absolute favorite are the Defend Latex with corn starch not that other dry chemical. Even people with latex allergies Can use these gloves for nearly 15 to 20 minutes Without a reaction. GREAT VIDEO IDEA! Implant grade jewelry ASTM F316 LVM steel at wholesale costs a body piercer more than that entire kit FOR 1 JEWELRY PIECE. Most Health departments & states consider body piercing as mild surgery. They might as well be selling a scalpel & a rusty nail to 5th graders.
I pierced one of my packers several times with an 18g injection needle and some crap pieces of jewelry that I got pierced with/got on amazon for my healed piercings lmaooo or do what someone else suggested and pierce a teddy bear or smtg that would be so cool
I went to an arts high school with a dorm (GREAT idea right???), and there was one girl who bought a shitty piercing kit... no research or anything she just started charging people to be pierced. They were some of the worst piercings I have ever seen. She was giving septum piercings through the cartilage and putting in whatever jewelry she could find. Every nostril she did had that bump on it, etc etc
@@evs06 I been wanting to too. But I can’t afford a professional. lol. I need a option I can get. That is beginner friendly and actually is accommodating to the piercings I want.

LOL I bought this kit like 3 times n only successfully did my nose piercing 💀 how do people manage to give themselves eyebrow piercings w this kit or snake bitesssss, a skill I wish I had lmfao
The fact that you can buy piercing kits and studex guns online really annoys me. It was all that was on my TikTok at one point is people and teens piercing themselves and easily getting ahold of these kits on Amazon and Shein 😫 Am I right in thinking plastic can’t be sterilised properly? It can’t go in an autoclave because it’ll melt?

It shouldn't really be legal to sell these things in my opinion. As for ear piercing guns, well when a piercer suggested using one on me, I found somewhere else.
If you want to pierce yourself, go ahead, no-one's going to stop you! But if you can't afford to pay a professional piercer then you have to ask yourself if the piercing is worth bothering about in the first place because if you can't afford a piercer then you also can't afford decent quality jewellery to go in it! 🤷♂️
@@DavidChild-ty2od thats a dumb assumption to make and just because you go to a piercer, their job is not guaranteed to be perfect either, there are numerous occasions where a professional has messed up and a non professional hasn't, and more than that, people piercing themselves don't hurt a fly so your argument about making piercing kits illegal is a completely personal opinion that shouldn't be projected onto others lol
Ooh I've really hit a nerve 😆 Expressing an opinion on the internet haha 😄 Well you best get on with your self piercings. You clearly know better than anyone.
If you're for real, it's going to be a lot of hours worth of tedious research to understand what makes a proper tool and how to source a proper tool. If you want someone to give you a good recommendation so you can impulsively do something you don't want to pay to have done properly, you should probably steer clear.

I'm thinking of sending this to my father, he gives me shade for paying a professional.
Putting jewelry on denim jackets or purses can look cool and is a good use for the low quality stuff!
