Sites like this rely on their customers not being educated enough to distinguish a low-quality piece of jewelry from a high-quality one. They prey on people wanting to take a risk to save some money, and THEN they rely on real piercers and professionals to fix their mistakes when the jewelry causes a problem. It's a shame they are allowed to sell something that bad..
In my forays into searching for body jewelry retailers, I think I happened across "Body Candy"...just the name itself *SCREAMS* cheap mall jewelry!!! 😂 Just Sayin'!!!
Also- there's no need to spend hundreds on a gold piece to achieve a safe piece of jewelry that has a gold finish! The titanium pieces can be anodized to a gold or rose gold finish- and they're affordable!
I’m so upset I realize the reason my belly piercing hasn’t healed yet it’s been almost a year and it acts like i just got it done. I realize they gave me a opal top that is poor finish and that’s why the lower half healed but not my top YOU ARE SUCH A LIFESAVER
This is what I tell people about surgical steel as someone who works in the OR… “surgical” meaning like what the instruments are made of… and lets be honest these instruments are meant to cause trauma a lot of the time, unlike piercings which is one puncture that you want done as smoothly as possible. Implants, the stuff THEY KEEP IN THE BODY is usually TITANIUM.
surgical steel is even worse than you think! “surgical” is entirely a misleading name. it has nothing to do with surgery or surgical standards. it is an overarching name for a large collection of unregulated alloys of steel, many of which are very much not safe
Oh yeah. I remember my body candy days, many unhappy piercings and scarring from irritation, plus plated jewelry that showed up with huge chunks of shattered plating not once, but TWICE upon them sending me a replacement. I got pierced by you back in May when you were in NC and my experience with you was definitely the catalyst for me getting deep into piercings again and learning more. Thank you for all that you do to educate! 🔥🔥🔥
Have you reviewed Oufer? They are now doing solid 14k gold labrets/tops in a range of gauges (including 20), in addition to the usual titanium/surgical steel items.
I work at a piercing studio and the number of people who think surgical steel is the supreme is kind of scary. Luckily 99% are there for quality piercings and just didn’t know differently.
I'd definitely be interested in hearing what you think about Ask and Embla jewelry, they have a lot of cool stuff at a variety of prices but I sometimes question their standards.
That is evidently happening on some recent videos and I have no clue why-everything has been filmed as normal. I’m gonna investigate this when I’m back!
When I first started getting pierced I bought jewelry from body candy and it was such bad quality. Looking back I really should have looked into it before hand because damn so many problems.😂
I literally gasped when I saw the gold piece.. I can't imagine being so dispassionate about the stuff that you're selling and the piercing industry as a whole to sell this stuff and think it's okay. I really appreciate you calling out these brands for their poor quality, especially for how big they are. I would bet they also have shit labor practices, considering how low their prices are and how much product they're pumping out. I would be interested in seeing you continue this. I'd highly recommend - from my personal experience - Arctic Buffalo. I bought some glass plugs from them once and they came in.. less than favorable quality :/
As of the last time I shopped with them (about)5 years ago their customer service was an atrocious experience as well. I bought some pretty glass swirly gauges for my wedding along with a few other things recieved my order with a peice of paper saying the gauges were out of stock and that a credit for the price would be applied to my next order and that the credit expired in a year. Called customer service and no they wouldn't refund the item I didn't receive. Eventually the item I had wanted was back in stock in a slightly larger size and I placed the order and it charged me full price. I email and then call customer service again to be like what the heck I didn't get my credit only for the person to tell me to use the credit I was supposed to call customer service and have them place the order for me/help me place the order. That was the last time I ever purchased from them. My best guess is they do it this way so people forget about their credit, never use it so it expires or that a lot of people won't want to hassle with customer service to get it.
oooh could you review beatti jewelry? their chain designs are really pretty but given how few reputable piercers i see follow/mention them, i'm hesitant to purchase
Oooh I love this! I saw their website when doing some research and got "Claire's for your face holes" vibes from it, so im glad my intuition was on point with that.
coming back to this video to suggest a use for your growing collection of meh jewelry: add them onto a jacket, bag, shoes, etc as a decoration. my battle jacket is pierced the hell up
I'd love to see more reviews like this for other online piercing stores! It's great to see such an honest and informative review from a professional as these are difficult to find! I get a lot of ads for jewlery stores but I never know if the quality is actually safe to wear. I'd like if you could make a review for crazy-factory please
Thank you for this video, I have recently been getting some ads for this Body Candy jewelry website and I admit it did get my attention with the sales and cheap prices and so many jewelry options... thankfully I never ended up ordering anything and now I never will! 😅 this just saved me from wasting money on cheap low quality jewelry not just from this store but I will also be paying more attention to details that I would've missed before when buying jewelry
I have a review for you to do---Maria Tash jewelry. I have bought a few things from Body Candy, but mostly it was replacement balls. I've had no trouble with those. Maybe you could do a review of Painful Pleasures as well. I bought some of their internally threaded titanium pieces, and have had no trouble. I have my own small jewelry anodizer, and can change the colors whenever I want. Maria Tash jewelry is expensive though. I have 2 of her pieces, both lightning bolts, flatbacks. I do love them, and wear them a lot. I try to stay away from sites that have "cheap" jewelry, because I think about my body and my piercings. It's better to have a few high quality pieces than it is to have many pieces of "cheap" crap jewelry. Most of these sites figure that most people won't know good quality over bad. Anatometal is one of my favorites to get pieces from. I have a lot of theirs. (Jan Griffiths).
Yes, yes, yes! This is the best kind of unboxing review 👍 Your professional opinion is very much appreciated. Also heads up, idk if it’s something on my end, but this video only has audio in my left ear
If you meant to type body art forms they do sell some reliable and safe brands but they also sell low quality pieces so I would recommend looking at the brand of the piece you buy from that site.
Great timing! I was just looking at them and I was suspicious about them for awhile and wondering whether or not to buy from them since I can't find any good online piercing shops, especially since I have new-ish? snakebites and I need a new bar for them
I'm curious what you'd have to say about Steel Navel. It's been a while since I've been on their site so I'm curious where it lands in terms of quality
0:00 I have an account there and I think I saw it recommended somewhere but I can’t even remember like what the prices were like. All my jewelry I’ve gotten from painful pleasures (recommended by my piercer) and plug your holes.
do you know anything about jewelry made out of delrin? i dont trust anything made from plastic, but ive seen some people using it that seemed legit, as well as the price tag being well above any similar plastic or silicon pieces....
OMG I've gotten better quality jewelry off AMAZON!! This sh*t is insane, tysm for this video. I've had a Body Candy tab open on my phone for months and would have potentially wasted a ton of money on sub-Claire's quality jewelry (and maybe given myself an infection or worse).
I remember when i was first stretching my ears all the way back in high school, i found body candy. It was literally like being a kid in a candy shop seeing so much body jewelry for so cheap, i knew it was too good to be true. Thankfully i never got anything, i was too scared of using their stuff cause my ears became so sensitive when i stretched them.
Ohh I’ve bought from here before. Most can’t be worn because they’re either too long or go green and irritate my piercing. I haven’t bought from them in some time now because of it
Also absolutely no shade to Neometal (we love their titanium) but when someone says the studio they went to before has Neo as their best jewelry, that makes me cringe. Neo is amazing, but if that’s the best quality what is their cost effective stuff?
I may be silly and need to do more research but maybe someone can point me in the direction of the video of you talking about the best brands from more affordable to more expensive or quality options? Brands
I bought from them because of the price and since i live in latam and here I can't find many aesthetic options of piercings. And yes, they seem fake af lol. I don't think buying the ones that cost more are a good idea tho. Anyways anyone can recommend me a piercing online shop? :(
Dang i wish i had seen this before i bought a stainless steel waist chain from them, i guess now i’ll have to hope they’re problem pieces are the piercings and not the body jewelry😅
Just so you know plated jewelry and pvd are actually different processes, they are not the same, there is a difference. I'm not saying its good quality jewelry but keep in mind you are comparing two drastically different price differences. A $20 pvd gold labret vs a $300+ solid gold piece is like comparing a low end Ford or Chevrolet to a Rolls Royce....Of course there will be a quality difference.
PVD is a form of coating that in body jewelry is categorized along with plating, vermil, and filled, which is why I often discuss them together. They are drastic price differences, and the fact they are being advertised as being comprable and with misleading marketing is why I want to make these videos! So clients can stay safe

I have some of their gold jewelry n I love them for the 14k gold jewelry.
I use some of their threadless stuff, and love it. I use neo metal titanium threadless posts tho
I've never looked at jewelry this closely before but after watching this I'm definitely going to be more careful what I buy!
Oh no :( there's a little issue with the audio on headphones, it's all coming through my left ear.
That is evidently happening on some recent videos and I have no clue why-everything has been filmed as normal. I’m gonna investigate this when I’m back!
Excited to see more in this series! Do Urban Body Jewelry!!

Absolutely loved this revieW!!!! Could we get one for Crazy Factory and Tremun?
Crazy Factory is just cheap, low quality stuff... but Tremun seems fine as far as I can tell, so I really like to hear Lynn's opinion on them
@@snans341 I know Crazy factory is low quality, but I want to see how bad 😂😂😂

Which brand would you recommend for us poor folks

as a machinist in training, that’s some rough metal
So what do you recommend?
What do you think of these and are they safe ?
Oufer
Urban
Diablo
Buddha jewelry
Body arts
If you meant to type body art forms they do sell some reliable and safe brands but they also sell low quality pieces so I would recommend looking at the brand of the piece you buy from that site.
FYI the audio is messed up for headphone users. It’s only on the left side! Great video
Love this video! Just letting you know that this video and the last one have the audio in headphones really skewed to the left.
I just asked about adonized metal in the comments of your last video so I feel like this was just for me lol! Thank you this was so helpful❤
I've made one single purchase from Body Candy... never again.
I would love to see a metal mafia review!
Great timing! I was just looking at them and I was suspicious about them for awhile and wondering whether or not to buy from them since I can't find any good online piercing shops, especially since I have new-ish? snakebites and I need a new bar for them
Please review Hollywood body jewelry!
Hello I’m curious if the Le Roi Titanium is legit from Body Art Forms, please anyone give some feedback I just placed an order.
What type of material do you recommend for tongue rings? I was looking at getting all plastic ones
I'm curious what you'd have to say about Steel Navel. It's been a while since I've been on their site so I'm curious where it lands in terms of quality

I bought my very first stretching kit from body candy......acrylic tapers....yeah i had a massive blowout
Okay to be fair that’s kinda your fault. They state they are acrylic. If you are stretching 101 is dont use acrylic.
@@saysikerightnow6300 why’s that? (I’m new to body modifications I’d like to get educated)
