This is so helpful and I needed all of this info. I have always had a hard time healing any piercing and I've always wondered the same things and I also am very happy that I now know! Before taking any antibiotics for infection ask them to swab and test the piercing. I've been prescribed antibiotics before when I didn't end up really needing them and I ended up struggling with my ph balance and yeast infections on and off for over a year after all those antibiotics they told me I needed. They never mentioned that there was a test to see what kind of infection I had and it would determine what medicine to use. Health care is insane
The hair is everything!!! 💛❤ I thought I was having trouble with my bridge, but turns out it simply hated the curved barbell; it's healed perfectly and Its my fav modification!
I’ve been worried about my belly button piercing becoming infected and it’s often red and irritated. At least now I know what to look for, especially with your emphasis on severity
One day I'm going to get another apprenticeship and I'm so glad I watch all of your stuff. I feel so much more equipped to deal with issues with my own piercings and identify if I'm about to go into a bad apprenticeship or work for a shop that's not for me. Love you Lynn thank you. All of your content always makes me feel like I can make it in this industry and I'm not alone
This is soooo reassuring thanks so much. I often think my piercings are infected but it’s always after a trauma or some kind so makes sense it’s just irritation. My new nose piercing was healing so well but I forgot I had it when I woke up yesterday and rubbed it so now it’s got a little white spot but no other issues so clearly not infected. Thanks so much!
I have done my mid helix 25 days ago I got big bumps on both ears .. I'm using mupiroicn ointment it is not showing that much affect...any tips help me
Can an irritation bump get infected? Mine has pus secretion and I used a prescribed antibiotic ointment for it. Now, it's shrinking in size and healing up normally.
@@muchomangotangos this happened to me! I got an ointment that helped a lot but afterwards it was something that never really got better and it made my piercing VERY crooked and it was on my bridge so I unfortunately had to take it out and now there’s a big scar 😅😭
1:04 I’ve always heard not to go to the dr unless the infection is really bad cuz they just make you take it out It probably depends on how bad it is though? I’ve never had an infection in my piercings I have now bad enough to warrant going to the dr or even calling the person who pierced me
I didn't know my new jewelry had copper in it and it started to hurt so I took the jewelry out. I've had the piercing for a year and no problems till I put new jewelry in. Now I have a bump inside and it looks white. I've always cleaned it and always followed my piercer instructions. What can I do to get rid of this bump in the inside of my nose?
Thank u for your helpful info,I got a full length industrial from the top 2 the back off my ear over 2 years ago,it's still so,so painful can't sleep on it,any advice please,Henry.
Bit of a long story here. I had snakebites when I was younger (18-24) and took them out in mourning (2014). They healed shut but left little indents on my lower lip where they used to come out. Recently got them re-done. Left one is doing fine, have hardly snagged them at all (4months in). However I had to get the right one re-re-done because it was at a bad angle after swelling went down and snagged on my gums when I smiled (which it never did when I was young). It still doesn't line up with where it used to come out when I was young. So now it's re-done but almost constantly I have a bump under it that I was convinced is a zit (Whitehead appearance). I initially punctured it and puss came out, so I thought that confirmed it. But it's come back. I think I've only had a week or two early on when it wasn't there. After seeing this I'm wondering if it's an irritation bump... I'm wondering if it's because of the indent from the old piercing being immediately under the current exit hole... Any way I can be sure?
Have you tried gently massaging the bump in the shower with your fingers? The warmth should help loosen the tissue up if you keep up with it every day. If it hurts, I would contact your piercer so they can take a look at it in person.
I have an appointment to get both my ear lobes double pierced in two days. Do you have any advice for me? Which method for ear piercing do you recommend?
just curious, how long after being pierced with improperly cleaned or infected tools will it take to get an infection? I had some previously infected piercings (not swabbed though but the antibiotics helped) done at a bad studio but they took 2-3 months to really blow up and become obviously infected after piercing. do you think these were the result of the bad studio or environmental because they took so long to appear? thanks :-)
Thanks this was a big help ….. I guess what’s some of the best ways to try and clear these irritation bumps? I have heard plenty of ways but it can be so confusing, Make a sea salt paste. Make an aspirin paste. Use tea tree oil, don’t use tea tree oil. …. Thanks for sharing ✨✨✨
*1. saline solution every day. 2. don’t move the jewellery too much. that’s all you need to do.* I’ve just recently healed a massive 1 year old irritation bump on my conch from doing this. long story short it was my first ear cartilage piercing so I was unsure how forgiving they was gonna be. I downsized jewellery too quick, then I put a hoop in when I thought it was healed enough. when I say massive bump I mean MASSIVE. back and the front, it tripled the thickness of the piercing tunnel. I changed back to a labret and for several months I tried just leaving it alone, cleaning it lightly, hoping it would fix but it didn’t. I finally had enough as it was reaching the 1 year mark, so I visit my piercer and I’m told to use saline on it every day. I do that…and I noticed results very quickly. to a point where I’m embarrassed I didn’t do that sooner. *I was also told if that didn’t work, to put a “healing disc” on it which is just a plastic disc to compress the bump. I never had to do that but I’ve heard they’re good.*
When my piercings are being grumps I come and watch your videos to reassure myself that everything will be okay! 😂
thank you so much you have no idea how much anxiety and confusion you have saved me

This lighting is rad! Nice vid Lynn, very informative :)
woohoo i love a lynn upload day!
Omg thank you so much for this video. I've got my first piercing a few weeks ago and I was getting paranoid because I noticed a weird bump on it!
Love this video ❤ I don't know if anyone has brought it up yet, but i'd love to see a video on how to deal with piercing hypochondria!
Not that exact subject but I did just do a video on dealing with nerves and fear when getting pierced!
Very wonderful video! Very helpful! Thank you!
One quick question... is there anything to do to get rid of irritation in a nose ring?! ❤
@dianabachman3318 did you get a answer?
Can you please do a video on hot compression cold compression when to and how to. Thank you I love you videos.
Dude, thank you so much for the pictures

Any time you have or suspect an infection you should see a medical professional to be safe.

If it was from the studio it would be a very fast onset. Like just a few days if that. Months later it was probably due to something unrelated
@@Lynn_Loheide thanks for confirming! I'm now suspecting it might be the mask-wearing at the time

Doctors overprescribe antibiotics like crazy. It’s infuriating
