I just finished a 500 mile highway trip with my 2018 Ram 2500 limited 6.4 3.73. With the cruise control set at 65mph and 500lbs of gear the trucks averaged 19.3 mpg.

I have a 17 with 3.73 gears 6.4 liter. I pull an 8500 pound travel trailer and get 11-12 mpg on average. Empty I can get up to 17.5 . I have found I do best with either Marathon or Mobil gas. No name gas equals low mileage. btw, mileage is with regular grade gas. Plenty of power in the Ozarks on the hills! Love my silver beast!

My 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 6.4L with a 4:10 ratio will typically get ~15MPG driving conservatively in hilly mixed city/rural driving and ~17 MPG on the interstate without using cruise. Pulling a 16 ft flat bed trailer with 5ft vertical ramps and ~3000 # cargo on the interstate gets me ~12MPG. My truck has only 13000 miles and I am very satisfied with the milage and performance.

I have a bone stock 2018 cc 3500 srw short bed w 4:10. I pull a 6×10 enclosed trailer loaded with tools/materials and average 10 mpg. With tow/haul on it holds 1st gear forever. Then 2nd, 3rd shift early. I know my 1st upgrade will be exhaust.

How accurate have u found the fuel lie-o-meter to be on this particular truck? I have had some that are very accurate and some that are consistently 1.5-1.75 mpg optimistic?

I have a 2018 with the 3.73s. With just over 1200 miles, I've been averaging 15.5 mpg. This is in mixed driving as well. So far, I'm good with this. Good job on the review.
On a side note, just because someone passes ya, doesn't mean they aren't impatient. Maybe they just find "their" sweet spot is a bit faster that yours. Just sayin...

Better question is. How many miles per tank. And what tank you have ?

Remember you're on winter mix gas, try a no-ethanol station during the late spring and try again!

Well at least you can justify your MPG by owning a true HD truck. While Nissan Titan owners (not the XD) get about the same with the smaller 5.6L V8. Only the V8 Cummins is really worth the coast when buying a Titan which would include the XD.

Is there an option out there for a “true dual” exhaust for that truck? The thought of going two to one and back to two just seems silly to me. BTW: can’t hear what your talking about with that “muffler delete” you have.

around here where i live (central texas) the AFM/DOD just hampers fuel mileage due to constantly switching between the 2 modes. both me and my dad turned ours off through tuning (my chevy and his ram) and noticed about 3 mpg better

God that had to be painful dude I mean come on you got three quarter ton Ram truck with a 6.4 Hemi if it was me I would stopping on that gas pedal like it was nothing granted yes I'd be going to the gas station probably every 2 days but it would have been well worth it except when the gas bill came due then I probably wouldn't be so happy but hey you got a Hemi engine use it lol.

I have a 2018 and it now has just over 4,000 miles and I can't yet achieve these numbers. I would be ecstatic with 14 mpg in mixed driving. I am averaging only 12 or so currently but have been told it would improve as I put more miles on the engine.

Enjoy Life where are you from? I’m in Maryland and temps are below freezing. Increased idle time and cold weather reduced my fuel mileage quite a bit. I can’t get out of the 12s as of right now

How funny. I am also in Maryland and my idle time is about 1/3 of my driving time as well. I trust things will improve in warmer weather.

Yes absolutely. I did notice after the first 7500 miles my mileage did increase. I now have 83K on it

I also failed to mention that mine has the 4.10 gears which will tend to decrease economy a bit.

Enjoy Life I have a 2018 Power Wagon, here in Canada we get craptastic winter fuel which sucks to be honest. Driving on higher speed back roads (50mph) I get around 17-20 MPG, in town I get around 12 MPG, and on the highway with cruise set at 75 I get around 12.5. If I bump it down to 60 (I personally can't tolerate that slow) it gets around 14 MPG. Going off previous trucks it should go up about 1-1.5 MPG with summer fuel everywhere.

I don’t think these 2500 w the 6.4 have the MDS “4 cylinder deactivation “ but I could be wrong

You can baby it and only get 16 mpg. I get 10 (winter) 18 (highway -summer) in my 5.3L GMC

I watched 8 minutes and stopped. I thought you were going to do real world mpg test. Using the trip computer is not accurate. It is in the ballpark but not accurate. You have to zero your trip counter drive for a a few days, fill up, then divide your miles traveled by the gallons of gas you put in the tank.
Next MDS, Multidisplacement system. You can not tell when it switches from 4, to 8 cylinders. It happens in 250 milliseconds. It's flawless. It doesn't work until your over 45 mph, and stops at over 70 mph. So riding around in tow, or o/d all the time is just stupid.
Here is something to think about also. You did a mileage test then a smoky burnout. Every revolution of a tire breaking friction with the road, durning a burnout is a loss of 100 miles of rubber.

You could Absolutely tell when it switched to V4 on the 2015 I had. It was extremely annoying and didn't help mileage any at all that I could tell.
