Yep its beautiful!!! I have a special place for yamaha ive had mine for 20 years and it never lets me down, takes me hours into the woods miles away from help and always brings me back
My first bike, bought new in Jan. '75. Less than two months later, I totally submerged it when I fell crossing a stream. Temp. was around freezing and the bike was underwater for a few minutes until we could pull it out. Turned it upside down with plug removed and gave it a few kicks to get the water out and eventually got it started. Changed the trans oil and serviced the air filter that night, and it was business as usual. The Yamaha DT's were bulletproof.
Another stunner. Ken. You certainly come across some gold. Love to know how you got on in that town meeting. About riding your bikes. In town. Hope it was a win for common sense.
This was the second bike I owned. I bought it new in '74 when I was 16 and sold it to a co-worker in '82. Really fun bike, except that it occasionally would kinda cough and sputter between 55-60 for some reason that I could never figure out. And though it was capable of doing maybe 70 or so, contrary to what the OP says this is NOT a bike you'd want to ride cross-country. But even today it'd make a great all-arounder and urban commuter.
You might not believe what I watched a friend of mine did while riding and making acrobats on exactly this version of this bike in Brazil during the years of 1978-1980. His name was Fabio or "Fabinho"'. I think my generation was a little more crazy than millennials. I must say your bike is so perfectly conserved that it is really a time tunnel. Brazil
I had a green 73 250 what a great bike for trail riding or off trail in the deep woods with its low gear torque very easy to maneuver around without chocking down alot what a blast wish I still had it 😤
Ken YOU'RE KILLING ME Lol bringing back all the memories with each cool 70's 2 stroke and Classic you post! Love the latest CT70 also! I cant wait to visit your Museum & when time allows Looking forward to shaking your hand....but in the meantime I'll keep tabs on your videos here and ebay listings . Ken looking to make an investment in a Classic 70's ride You have been such a big help in narrowing down my choices which have been between classic road bikes like the 74 Honda CB454 DOHC K7 , the recent Kawasaki TX500 which is a gorgeous bike... OR A Classic 70's Enduro like the Yamaha DT series. Again Congrats on the Museum....hoping to be up soon for a visit and eventually a purchase to help support the Museum.
@@KaplanCycles Thanks. I own a 2006 Yamaha Morphous Scooter a Consignment purchase thru a Dealer....it was in storage for 10 years....like new.... I replaced the tires...gas oil & plug... accepted my $1700 offer..... its PERFECT for my running around here on the NJ Shore....A rare Scooter....I predict like the Edsel....will be worth $$ down the line. We shall see.
My dad had a 74dt360 he got in 76 at the time had low miles that was one of the bike that stands out with my dad.My dad had it till 1985 and my mom and dad went to Orlando FL came home left next day left went to WV after the vacation it was gone apparently someone wanted it more but that was the last bike he road on the road and that was all he had was Yamaha enduros growing up the dt360 was a reliable bike when everyone elses bike was broke his was still running
Those two-stroke Yamaha's would sometimes kick-back when you tried to start them. I remember my Dad getting a nice gash on his leg from this and then was afraid to start it. I'd have to push him down the driveway where he'd pop it into gear to start it thereafter.
Brother n law had a used one of these, identical year & color, he let me ride it whenever i wanted, i was like 14, me n my buddy was riding it out in the hay field 70 mph & we wiped out lol got a little scuffed up, he broke his ankle, we were lookin at each other as we were wiping out, it was in slow motion, that buddy of mine we went to kindergarten together, he was a pro boxer, Tracy Russell from Rockfalls,Illinois, hes dead now, got stabbed in 2019 ...
All these bikes I grew up with man, it’s a Crime that people are willing to pay $6000 for DT’s, SL’s, etc as that prices today’s kids right out of Motorcycling and that SUCKS in a way No One Enjoys. Politics killed 2 strokes just as they kill everything they invade. I understand the smell, feel, and quality of these bikes as I’m a very young 60 year old man and I rode them all when they were brand new and Magic was still in Motorcycling. I road DT 250’s, 360s, SL 350’s, Kawasaki Bighorn’s, we all had them and rode each other’s. What a shame that people are driving prices to these levels as it’s just going to make bikes, like hunting and fishing available ONLY to the Wealthy. Shame.
Your wrong! Bikes are still cheap if you buy them not working and fix yourself. BUT if you can't do the work and PAY SHOP RATES OF $90+ an hour it adds up fast. A typical frame off restoration takes over 100 hours PLUS parts. The rich man don't care. And the lazy or unskilled man won't fix it. himself
Awesome bike! Slightly odd question: How tall are you? I'm looking at getting a vintage dual sport/enduro bike that would work for myself and my girlfriend. I'm 6'1 and she's about 5'5 so obviously a big difference. I'm ok with riding a bike on the smaller side, but I don't want her to have a hard time balancing at stops etc. Also, I love these videos! Thanks!
I snagged one up for $100 a few months ago. A 74 DT250 in Virginia gold. They're super cheap when you can find them in their natural habitat, in the back corner of a barn. Mine was a farm bike in the 90s and put away for 20 years. It's absolutely thrashed but it's all there. Gas tank looks like a crumpled orange beer can lmao.
Awesome bike. I bought one brand new when I was 19. This one looks beautiful. Brings back memories.

My friend has one, owned it over 20 yrs. It still runs! Over 25,000 miles! Great bike. Great videos guys, keep up the good work. 👍👍

Bought this exact bike my sophomore year in high school. Same color. Oh the memories.
They had the coolest colors back then!

I used to run 2 stroke out board oil in mine.Ran smoother, less rattle, more miles per oil tank fill.
Exhaust was WHITE!!
Awesome bike but why the front forks don't go back up properly ?
If you get a new mic, you can auction that one. It is a one-of-a-kind piece!
Maravilha de moto. Tive uma aqui no Brasil. Ano74 dourada. 250cc.
Saudade recordações boas.

Kind of now that I'm looking at it it does look different.

Wicked bud !
That's a good observation telling us how the gas smells there's nothing wrong with saying that.
Do you have the original owner's name.?

I wonder what the range on that microphone is…
We've thrown it 40' so far
You should get a wireless head set so you don't have to hold the mic lol
Beauty by the way!

Why don't you just by it for your self if you don't already own it if you like it that much I definitely would.
