In today's video, I'll show you an awesome beginner 3d project. Tracking 3d sci fi masks and helmets onto your face with After Effects. I'll even show you how to take these 3d helmets and use a free program called spark ar to get your helmets onto instagram as face filters you and your followers can use!! Along the way I'll show you some awesome tips for customizing so you can make some cool stuff.

Another awesome tutorial thank you man. Bought element 3D after your building fly through tutorial and it’s prob the best $200 bucks I’ve spent. Forgive me if you’ve already covered this in another video but any chance you know where to get more “environments” / how to make your own ? Love the one you used in the video, I’ve been using the element 3D stock environments for pretty much everything and would love to branch out to different looks. Have had insane luck finding free models just can’t find any environment images. Thanks again for all you do - I’m sure a lot of us in here wouldn’t be exceeding the expectations we have for ourselves if it wasn’t for you. Beyond appreciative 🙏

Definitely gonna start doing alot of 3d stuff for music videos can you do a more advanced head track like with camera movement or will same method work just key frame mask
Same method will work and you don’t need to mask or keyframe anything since it’s using the tracker
🙌 Max you're a legend. Hey quick question: Any way I can add shadows from the 3D object? I want to put a VR headset on a person's head and cast a little shadow down onto their face below the headset but I can't figure out how to get that to work where the light isn't also moving around all crazy following my 3D Camera Track layer?
a little tricky to mess with lighting with element 3D, I'd reccomend checking out my blender + ae tut workflows

Max I have been trying but the moment I link the 3d track to the element 3d file .. the position never lines up . I think its the anchor point + position mismatch . Any suggestions. its been driving me crazy

Hey max. I downloaded spark AR to make a filter. I also used blender for my stl file. I followed all your steps but it keeps telling me the size is not right. It keeps giving me the little triangle. Can you please help me I tried reducing the file in blender like u said as well

yes you need to have it to import 3d elements into Ae. You could always use a 3d software's built in tracker to do this as well though

Hello bro. In minute 20:50 u show us how to fix the obj file but I use blender nd I click the yellow riangle and nothing happens😢 can u please help me on how to fix it
But why you didn't use that helmet which you created in video? How it's possible to export that model for using in spark?
I didnt use that helmet because I wanted to show the other one to mention custom textures (the decals) and editing the model in a 3d software. You can still use any model you want in spark, Instead of bringing it into element just import it into spark and edit the materials from there

usually with 3rd party render engines you need to input the textures in manually

why do you use white people in yor thumbnails but black people in your edits? just curious jedi
i don't pay attention to race when im editing or making thumbnails. if you look at my channel I have hundreds of videos with people of all different races in the thumbnails and I've edited videos for people of all different skin color its all just random.
