FILM DESCRIPTION:
Folk hero the Bandit has fallen on bad times but comes to life when he is hired to help transport a pregnant elephant to a Republican convention in Dallas. Arch-enemy Sheriff Buford T. Justice catches wind of the deal and resolves to spoil the Bandit's comeback.

I've tried to find something on it and nothing. It might just be a quick piece they did for the scene since there is no credit for it.
Right? I grew up on this as a kid. I'd seen plenty of westerns because my Da was into them, but this was just so much cooler because it was badass cars and trucks instead of horses.

I remember my brother thinking the same thing, how the cops should’ve drove down the hill sooner to cut off the Bandit. I bet the Bandit would’ve floored it at just the right time to pass the first cop to reach the bottom anyway. Even if he missed narrowly.

You know watching this nowadays you realize that Big and Little Ennis hired the wrong people. It took the Bandit and Cledus several days to get to that point but Reggie and his mounties made it from Quebec to Texas in less than a day.

No it's just for the story, hell technically Buford had no jurisdiction in the first movie when he left Texas.
I like the first movie better. But Buford T. Justice is my favorite character in the movie. Especially his interaction with his dimwitted son 😆.
Jackie Gleason always had the best one liners ever.

One of the greatest car chase scenes of all time...Hal Needham was a master!
Had to be the pinnacle of his career. For sheer spectacle, this was his Lord Of The Rings. Like, even the Fast & Furious movies, the only franchise that comes close, has nothing like this. And if they tried, they'd use CGI.
Hal Needham was the greatest stunt director past, present and future.
I really like that for the second Bandit seemed actually scared and helpless and Buford being the victorious.
Oh yeah. He had nothing at this point. He couldn't figure Buford would bring THIS much heat down on him. Frog got sick of him and left. He'd told Snowman to beat it. What options did he have here? Floor it until he ran out of petrol or try to do donuts around Buford's cavalry until he wrecked Trigger. If Snowman hadn't brought The Avengers, Bandit would have been finished.

Im replaying it on beamng drive i will tell you the cars.Bandit's car is the gavril barstow Buford's police car is the ninety eight regency. The other police cars. The canadian police cars is the oldsfullsize and chevy caprice. The white police cars is the bruckell moonhawk and the gavril bluebuck. I inspired it i spawn like 10 cars. Beamng drive is a car crash physics game

@@aycc-nbh7289 in 1980? ....yes I'm confident it wasn't editing trickery. There's a scene earlier where you had an actor play his two other relatives and they take a photo together and they could barely edit that together.

Burt Reynolds said he hated doing this movie, but even he’d have to admit this scene was a lot of fun.
The original Smoky and the Bandit was a classic. However, the two sequels were way over the top cartoonish. You could see the first one actually happening but the other two were just silly.
Yeah, typical of sequels, like Rambo and Rocky. They took a few liberties in the original with the car still being drivable after jumping the bridge, but it’s reasonably realistic for a movie.
Another reason why Bandid was fortunate Snowman showed up with the troops. Trans Ams aren't built to drive on dry ground especially a desert. Buford and his troops' cars really weren't either but they could take more of a pounding as we saw later in the "chicken game".
Again, step aside Bandit, Snowman coming through!

Not sure I can't remember if they said in the movie but it's somewhere in the South. My guess is it might be Georgia.

Oh, they are Pontiac Bonnevilles. The same as the white cars along with Buford and the others. I think they had 50+ Bonnevilles used for this.

They got a little stupid with Bandit II. With Jackie Gleason playing three different parts seemed a bit cheap. Of course he played those parts perfectly. Still, II didn't measure up to the first. Spin offs rarely do.

Hey so why didn’t Bufford bring any of his men from his county? He enlisted the help of his brothers and their officers but couldn’t muster up troops from his side? Could’ve boxed Bandit it and circled the wagons.
Like.....why didn't they drive down onto the road and block Bandit in?? Falling into formation behind Buford and his brothers was pointless. It put Bandit ahead, and allowed him to get to the safety of Snowman's 'cavalry'.........plot!!!

How the hell did 2 brothers get 50 officers each to a desert were they on duty and did Buford’s brothers say that the bandit is wanted or something and how the frick did reggie get his troops into the us did they all have passports and how did they get from canada to Texas so fast that’s hundreds of miles and wouldn’t it seem suspicious to see a line of Canadian police cars going down the highway also how did the snowman get so many trucks so fast did there happen to be a bunch of trucks in Texas that happened to be passing by close to the desert and what happened to the officers did they car pool in the less damaged cars back to Canada and dropped off the others along the way
