All Eurovision 2006 Song Intros Sorted by Length

  • DETAILS
    - the "introduction" here is defined as the opening part of the song before the main credited artist (if not applicable, main vocalist) starts singing the main defined vocal line of the song
    - backing vocals can be part of the intro
    - only live performances count
    Other notes:
    - I decided not to acknowledge the "tuning" before Latvia as part of the song, it appears purely functional (like count-ins in the orchestra era) rather than a stylistic choice (like the count-ins for 2 other songs this year).
    - It was difficult at first (you may remember from the older version of this video) but, possibly due to better audio quality, Mariana Popova is just about audible singing in the intro of Bulgaria (coming in a fraction of a second later than the backing vocals).
    - Just another reminder that spontaneous speech to the crowd can count as part of the intro but speech that is part of the song doesn't (Iceland contains an example of both).

    Almost all the countries have nice intros but Norway's was the best
