I got the same MAD hugger. I only used one of the mounting struts, on the non-drive side. That way you don't have to remove the axle. If you only use one strut, tighten the axle and mounting nuts really tight and check them from time to time.
Great suggestion, thanks!
Thank you for this info! That’s what I was afraid of, taking off the axle.
Lots of mods! How did the bike's performance change with the new filter? And was the slip-on muffler intended to improve performance? Or is it just for looks or sound? How's the knock-off Air Hawk? It's always mystified me why they don't just supply bikes with a high performance air filter if there's that much improvement in performance, but I tend to go OEM always since the engine is designed to work with it. There must be some trade-off in air intake quality, pollution, noise or something.
Got a couple of fantastic rides in on the Valkyrie today. It was the first day since I've owned it that I really enjoyed the ride without being too hot. This evening I almost needed a jacket, it was so cool. I tried to see what I could do with my power port also. It is going to be a bugaboo. With the windshield and the X-grip on there already, there is precious little real estate to put much else on. I can't find anyplace to put the power port on where it is perfectly visible and useful. This is going to require some ingenuity.
Hope the dinner party was a success. Missed the return trip re-entry password shield this time!
crupert23225 thanks bud. Dinner party was lovely. I’m not sure if I got much performance improvement from the K&N and new slip-on. It’s definitely louder! And I shaved off about 9 lbs of weight. I made the mistake of riding the CB, letting it cool while I rode the Valk for an hour, installing the pipe and then riding the CB. So I basically went from the Valk to the CB which is definitely NOT an increase in power! LOL!
I did a high speed test on the CB the other day and only reached 85 mph. I’ll redo that test soon and see if I notice any improvement. I do like the sound, looks and weight saving regardless. I’m thinking about a Power Commander...
The two bikes are so different and I’m loving them both. After riding the CB the power and smoothness of the Valk is doubly amazing.
Lovely to watch ❤️👌👍
Edzoor Tau thank you!
hi mate, did you take out weight in handlebar for end bar mirriors? As i see you didnt and i dont wanna take out also becouse of possible vibration. I tried mount mirrors but i have problem. My problem is weight in handlebar is turning inside of handlebar. This causes to mirrors to fall. Any suggestion for this problem. (sorry for my english:D)
I just jammed and finagled the mirrors into place. When I was done, they were still a bit loose but secure enough to not shift in the wind. Sorry I can't recall more specific details than that. I did remove the bar end weights, though. That, I can confirm. And I didn't miss them--no problem with vibration.
What fender eliminator do you have? I’m looking for one
I'm not sure. It was already installed when I bought the bike. I can tell you, you need to be careful. I finally got my state license plate and it got caught and badly mangled when I hit a good bump and compressed the rear suspension. Yikes!
