I bought one of these a week ago, and I second everything you said about it. As a rider of 40 years and getting near 70 yrs of age, arthritis makes handling heavier bikes more difficult. This bike brings me so much joy that it makes me feel like when I got my first bike! Such a joy to ride! Thanks for the great video!
Just hit the 600 mile mark on my 2019. I'm a 40 something newbie and this bike puts a big smile on my face and I learn something new every time I go out. Excellent little bike that I may keep for more than a "starter bike". Nice run down, Duke!
Do you still have it? If so, how many miles do you have now? I’m looking to get one to commute 12-15k miles a year on it. Having a hard time finding any reviews with any real miles on it.
I just got my bike last weekend and I am loving it. This is a perfect beginners bike and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You do not need a 600 as a beginner bike, this is more than enough and very fun to ride. Plus within a year you can always upgrade to a more powerful bike as a more experienced rider.
Owned this bike for a year and i love it! So comfortable and reliable and fun to ride. wouldn't really want to tour it too far. So cheap to run and insure too. I get about 83-84 miles to the gallon in real life riding conditions. Its a joy to own. I do sometimes envy the big boys Honda cb650r or cb1000r for that extra torque . Most people, cars and bikers assume you are only riding a 125cc as it looks almost identical and get a shock when you spank them or at least keep up with them on the road. The only slight issue with this bike is having to shift through the low gears very quickly as this can get a little tired on busy city rides. Stay happy and stay safe out there Brothers and sisters.
@@AJC559 It gets up to 80 very easily and comfortably and is also very stable but starts to struggle at about 85+mph. I have managed 100mph with a very long open road and favourable wind and road gradient but this is really the absolute limit this bike can do.
I keep picturing this bike with knobbies and dirt bike handlebars. These little bikes remind me of jumping on my huffy and riding to my friends when I was a kid.

The svelte 315 pounds of this bike is what makes it feel quick. And it’s an overall fantastic machine. It’s arguably the best all-around 300 on the market and does well even against 400 class bikes. I’m seriously considering buying one as a second bike.
Love the styling and that blue color is really nice! Great real road review which leaves me really liking this CB300R. And yes the small capacity game is improved massively.
I own a variety of bikes including this one, and I gotta say it is solid in that it is reliable for 10s/100s of THOUSANDS of miles for 80+MPG even for 200+lb riders. Change oil, tires, lube chain, that’s it. However, it feels a little jumpy even for a seasoned throttle hand. Also has a comfortable stance but seat becomes stiff (for my precious butt at least) on longer rides. *Will perform well in twisties*

Have to agree that the CB300R is a little gem having already owned 2 of them. The engine is so willing and smooth for a little thumper. I've owned many big and small bikes over the years and this one was the one that surprised me the most. It is a very capable machine! For smaller light weight riders, you will have a blast on this bike, especially on twisty country roads. It lacks the Duke 390 Power but personally having owned a 2017 Duke, the Honda wins for me as I personally like to keep my teeth in my mouth rather than spitting them out after a ride on the Duke. Plus 20mpg extra is very appealing. In terms of image, the Honda is great too. I like the Duke 390 but it has a 'Graffiti' image, whereas the Honda has more of an understated by still very classy image. Premium touches round off an amazing little bike that even the most experienced riders will enjoy.
I fully agree on everything you said! I loveeeeee the design they did on this bike, sitting on it is quite comfortable and the shifting does look quite easy to do if you’re a beginner. Saw this bike at MotoGP in Austin and mannnnn! I just knew I have to have it! Soon to be in my garage for sure!

I've had a ton of bikes, been riding 50+ years, currently own a 2021 Yamaha MT-09 and a 2019 (non ABS) CB300R. IMO, the CB300R is much more than a beginner bike. The ultra low weight, the excellent suspension and handling, the sound and feel of this single cylinder engine, all that combines to put a big smile on my face every time I ride it! Speaking of riding, rode my MT-09 yesterday, planning to ride my CB300R this afternoon!
When I first started it was only a Ninja 250 and rebel 250. Now they have really nice bikes at the lower displacement. I started the Ninja 250. I bought it new for $2999
I know you said that your knees were slightly bent and you are 5'9 but I would love to see reviewers like yourself show your riding position on the bike from the side so I can get a better understanding of feet placement, knee position, etc.
DukeOfDC seriously. I’m similarly built and your opinion on ergos would mean a lot. On any bike, never know what bike you might feel like getting next and comfort is a big thing for a lot of us.
Got 2019 CB300R and seems like nothing really changed(just colour). I am pretty happy with mine tho. I feel like it's a perfect entry bike for me. I do not feel like I need a more powerful bike because I do not go on highways in general.
One thing you didn't mention was the weight. It's 56 pounds lighter than an MT-03 and 47pounds lighter than a Z400. The weight plays a huge difference especially for new riders.
bought a 2023 model and it feels great, especially as a first bike... and I gotta say the looks are premium.. broad shouldered with that street fighter look *chef's kiss* and the power delivery is so smooth and you can absolutely have some fun with it and take a few other bikes by surprise thanks to it's close-in gearing. It does 130kmh whenever you want it to and I think that is about 85mph... what more could you want?
Congrats, that's awesome. I'm considering a 2024 model for a first bike. I've noticed in many comment sections that experienced riders also really enjoy this bike for what it is, so maybe it'll be a keeper for you for a good while!
@@KF1 I am genuinely not sure... I want to borrow a few bikes from friends to try them out before looking at something bigger but what little I have ridden.. makes me kind of appreciate the 300 a little more.

I've had this bike for over a year now, and I still love it, but i'm getting the cb1000r on 2020. I need a bit more power, and the same feel, the cb1000r delivers that for me. I love the video, and review.
Like your review, to the point and concise.👍 We get this bike for approximately $4,300 (on road price)here in India, comes in two colors, Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.
I’ve been looking for a starter bike, being 5’9 and 130 A 500 is just a little too much for me right now...But this review makes me want to get a cb300 even more now!
Might have to move to the Dallas Fort Worth area coming this March. I may end up getting my Honda Rebel 500 over there. I'm more of a fan of the cruisers, but I would gladly throw my leg over the CB300 and see how it feels.
Oh my that looks sweet. I have the 650 version, but I can tell how awesome this would be for an entry level bike, especially when compared to others in the market. Personally, that color scheme is *****/ 5 stars, and the exhaust makes it seem like a "bigger" bike, and makes the aesthetic look complete. Lastly of course, and it goes without saying for any Honda bike, is the Honda manufacturing. Reliable and smooth. It's funny, because you'd expect that if something is known for being reliable and smooth, it'd be expensive. But no, Honda may be a little more expensive than the others, but not that far off from them, but the quality is fucking top notch. I guess my only gripe is the turn signals, I may like it more to be a little lower than that... it kinda looks like an insect coupled with the display lol.
Hi man. Should I buy the 300r or the 650r as my first bike? I think the 300 might be a little small and I also love the sound on the 650r... I can't decide 😅
Hey. Bike newbie here. I had a Suzuki tu250x as my first bike. I loved it but recently sold it, as I need a bit more power; specifically more acceleration. Will the slight increase in CC's and horsepower from the CB300r give me much of an additional boost, or should I look to the 500 or 650? FWIW, I promised my wife I'd stay off the highways, so my need for top-end speed is pretty limited.
You've been a sub for 2 years! I really appreciate that and thanks for sticking with me through this recent lull in content. I think it's going to be very worth it.
How much does it cost? What are the extra charges? Basically how much it costs to take this bike to home in US? And what is the yearly insurance like? Pls reply
R3 Elle I wish I could but in Europe for now I’m limited to 35 kw or around 40/45 horsepower, do to my license being only the A2, that’s why I can’t think of anything higher without putting a downgrade kit...
Just about to put a down payment on this in India, can’t wait to own it. I think you said a lot of things I thought myself. It’s a bit more expensive here compared to the completion but honestly I don’t mind spending that bit extra. The way it out made me feel at ease immediate was just a big draw for me. Only concern is it is a little down on power to something like a Duke but then again a few mods (filters, new sprocket, remove the side guard we get only in India and a new exhaust should help add 2-3 bhp and torque. Excellent review cheers mate!
One thing he doesn't mention much in the video but was the main selling point for me is the weight. I dropped probably 10+ lbs with a fender delete and an aftermarket exhaust, so with less than a full tank of fuel this bike is probably well under 300lbs. That is about 40 lbs less than a 390 duke. So nimble, so fun to dart around in the city with.
@@skylarmorknerbrown yeah. So many people point to the low HP but they dont know how fun a like bikr is. Some of us in crowded cities have no room to go super fast like over 80 or 90 mph. Or have needs for speeding tickets.
The ninja 400 has a substantially more power than the 300 which makes it much better for highway speeds and overtaking. It also gives you a bit more to play with which means you'll get more life out of the bike without feeling like you've outgrown it. I've ridden most of these bikes and the 400 was my choice to buy. everyone has their own opinions but dollar for dollar the 400 is much better in my view. have fun riding everyone!
Don't know if you reply to comments on old videos but I am looking to buy my first bike and am stuck between this and the ninja400. what would you recommend?
I kind of want one of these. I almost want to trade in my 2 current bikes (which I have had for a long time and am getting bored with) in on one. I have ridden for long enough to realize that I am not a long distance type of rider. . . .I use a car for that. I like a nice light and nimble bike that is fun around town.

Never rode a motorcycle but have recently started looking into them and learning. Came across this bike online and i’m interested in it
I bought one yesterday and i love it 👍👍👍👍👊👊👊
I've had a ton of bikes, been riding 50+ years, currently own a 2021 Yamaha MT-09 and a 2019 (non ABS) CB300R.
Just put the deposit down on one for my fiancé as a 5 year anniversary gift. It is such a great bike
Yea sunski shoutout! I think they offer the hard case for free right now. Best sunglasses ever!
Noted! I can totally make that happen on my next shoot. The next few videos will be missing it, be look out for that in a few weeks!
DukeOfDC seriously. I’m similarly built and your opinion on ergos would mean a lot. On any bike, never know what bike you might feel like getting next and comfort is a big thing for a lot of us.
Barry Swedeen I’m 5’9 200 and have had this bike since January. It’s very comfortable. I don’t feel cramped at all. It’s an upright position
Got 2019 CB300R and seems like nothing really changed(just colour). I am pretty happy with mine tho. I feel like it's a perfect entry bike for me. I do not feel like I need a more powerful bike because I do not go on highways in general.
x2
One thing you didn't mention was the weight. It's 56 pounds lighter than an MT-03 and 47pounds lighter than a Z400. The weight plays a huge difference especially for new riders.
And us older riders!
Out of all the dealerships in the country... I'm actually talking to DFW Honda right now about buying this exact bike! Funny coincidence.
bought a 2023 model and it feels great, especially as a first bike... and I gotta say the looks are premium.. broad shouldered with that street fighter look *chef's kiss* and the power delivery is so smooth and you can absolutely have some fun with it and take a few other bikes by surprise thanks to it's close-in gearing.
I'm From El Paso Tx, honestly thinking about going to this dealership just because of this channel.. I really want this to be my 1st bike really bad now lol, you got me all excited with this review. Texan subs to Texan ✌
Dude!! That’s so cool, thanks for the support. If you go to that dealership definitely mention you’re there because of the video!
@@DukeOfDC on 2nd though.. that's an 8hr drive from El Paso.. but I am thinking about starting some type of vlog.. so.. content, I guess??
They don't do this colour in australia sadly. love the blue matte finish
Really like honda CB 300r hope there can get that over in England brilliant review ace👍❤️🇬🇧
Love the new format! 😎
Thanks brother! 🤓🤓
Thanks dude really like your vlogs like honda CB 300r class👍💙💯
I am about to swap my 2019 500f for this 300r, I don't care if I lose a bit of power but I am now convinced this is the better bike.
a cb500r should be perfect but next step is the 650...
I've had this bike for over a year now, and I still love it, but i'm getting the cb1000r on 2020. I need a bit more power, and the same feel, the cb1000r delivers that for me. I love the video, and review.
I'm hoping so much that they get this 2020 model in Australia really soon. It looks amazing!
Like your review, to the point and concise.👍
We get this bike for approximately $4,300 (on road price)here in India, comes in two colors, Candy Chromosphere Red and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.
That blue is just beautiful
Hey great video.. do you think this is OK for a beginner rider like myself? Or should I go for a 125cc
Considering this bike in the near future. Great review! Subscribed 💪
I’ve been looking for a starter bike, being 5’9 and 130 A 500 is just a little too much for me right now...But this review makes me want to get a cb300 even more now!
It's my first bike, I don't regret anything, plus I plan to keep it for a long time as a city bike or short trips.
Someone said this is like the Grom’s big brother, which is exactly what I’m looking for. A Grom that’s slightly more capable on the interstate.
loving your reviews! topped with video quality! keep showing us more...
Miss you, Honda CB300R 🎍🎋🧭⏱🔩🔧
And I had finally nailed the gear shifting too QwQ
Thanks fir the review. Just bought one!
I'm not one to buy a motorcycle,...but if I were, I would certainly consider this particular bike.
As a guy that is 5'10 and weighs 235 it's a nice feel, maybe tune the rear to be a little stiffer but that's it, that's my opinion
Nice bike, however the cluster should include a gear indicator on all beginner bikes.
Best reviews, appreciate them.
I have to give Honda credit for that digital gauge.
That really does have one sharp User Display.
Would be nice if they added a gear indicator on the 300. You have to buy the 500cc version just to get the basic essentials.
Ordered mine today, can't wait
I'll sub for the fact you're in my backyard. Gotta watch these crazy DFW drivers
They are literally everywhere. I’m in North Richland Hills and they all think they own the road.
That’s true lol.
Great content! We here at Viking Bags really appreciate your videos! Keep up the good work!
You've been a sub for 2 years! I really appreciate that and thanks for sticking with me through this recent lull in content. I think it's going to be very worth it.
Bought this bike based on your review. It is the a joy to ride.
How much does it cost? What are the extra charges? Basically how much it costs to take this bike to home in US? And what is the yearly insurance like? Pls reply
Can never go wrong with a CBR
Nice review. I’ll be reviewing a CBR300R in one of my next videos
Very cool! I’ll be sure to check it out
Good luck reviewing the 2020 model...honda killed it
Im really torn apart between this one and the Kawasaki z400, two beautiful bikes
Z400. Comes with ABS stock and has a gear indicator.
LemonFrog go for the z650 instead if you’re thinking about z400.
R3 Elle I wish I could but in Europe for now I’m limited to 35 kw or around 40/45 horsepower, do to my license being only the A2, that’s why I can’t think of anything higher without putting a downgrade kit...
LemonFrog i see. Go for Z400 then or mt03 if it’s available in Europe. Ride safe
R3 Elle thanks, u as well!
Love the small bikes for street to track riding, nice bike & review!
Thanks for the love :)
The design really is something that you would honestly not expect from a japanese brand. Thing looks more like an italian bike.
I'm such a huge fan of the 1st person view.... It's the closest I'll probably ever get to driving a motorcycle lol
Great review with helpful info! Subbed from Taiwan🇹🇼
I'm not a beginner. Looks fun to dart around on and customize.
This color is SICK!

And you earned a place in my heart
I kind of want one of these. I almost want to trade in my 2 current bikes (which I have had for a long time and am getting bored with) in on one. I have ridden for long enough to realize that I am not a long distance type of rider. . . .I use a car for that. I like a nice light and nimble bike that is fun around town.
