    I actually prefer the fenestrated sheepskin on my 650s. Everyone told me no, I felt like it def added a little bass but overall the sound remains intact, especially after letting them break in. I have an oratory eq on it and I wont go back to stock pads, these are far more comfortable.

    Best pads are the Original HYBRID Sennheisers that use pleather inside around the ring and velour outside also the gray colour foam inside the pads is highly air penetrated foam . That's the reason that none of aftermarket pads are working. End of story. Everything else jusy destroys the sparkle highs and gives boosted mid bass.

      All the Dekoni pads are a little “deeper” than stock Sennheiser pads. If you wear your headphones for a really long time and THEN you notice your ear(s) starting to touch the foam, then you might consider the Fenestrated or regular Sheepskin because the stiffer material may help the pads compress less.

      the pure sheepskin pads?

    • @evshrug
      @evshrug 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They’re good: the pads make a small sound difference in open back headphones (and the HD 660 are VERY open!), but a nice difference in comfort with the memory foam.
      The Dekoni pads all make a tighter seal than stock Sennheiser pads, because they have a flat surface that makes contact with your head and foam that conforms to your face a little more. Dekoni pads are also slightly deeper, and the sound is slightly less in your head and direct because of that. When reviewers mention dB differences in bass, mids, and highs, keep in mind we’re still talking about less than a handful of dB here. Consider the example that each volume step of an iPhone makes a much larger difference.
      Dekoni Velour sounds the most similar to the Sennheiser Velour... because they’re both velour. Dekoni Velour is a bit of a tighter weave so they retain a bit more bass.
      Dekoni Sheepskin are solid leather (over foam) pads, so they allow the headphone to have even more sound pressure (particularly in the bass, like 2-3dB more than the Velour). Since the smooth inner surface reflects sound waves, you may also hear a tiny bit more of all frequencies, but Treble in particular whose little waves may previously been absorbed by the irregular and porous surface of velour.
      Fenestrated Sheepskin pads have a sound (and heat transfer) right in the middle between Velour and solid Sheepskin. The Fenestrations are small enough that low frequency sound waves still reflect off, but high frequencies are partially absorbed. So, you end up with a bit more of “everything” but a bit more of a “velour like” response as you go up in frequency.
      Hybrid pads have Fenestrated Sheepskin where sound waves interact, Velour against your face (little sonic impact), and sleek looking Sheepskin along the outer face of the pad.

      @@evshrug First of all Pads do.make a huge difference on Open backs and in HD6 line they just destroy the sound.
      Secondly Original Sennheiser pads that sound the.best are NOT VELOUR they are HYBRID they have pleather inside around the ring and Velour outside , also the gray foam that is used by Sennheier is highly air penetrated thats why they sound like that.

    • @thor2767
      @thor2767 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had not tested the fenestrated pads on the 650s. i tested all the others on them tho and found the sound change to be about the same between the 660S and the 650s. but the 650s tended to always have a little more of a of a effect from pads then the 660S. i didnt want to pull off the Fenestrated pads very much because they are the most fragile of all the pads when removing them from the cups. if you want the closest to stock pad sound then i recommend the Fenestrated pads.
