Love your down to earth approach and being straight forward and real in your perspectives.

I've lived in Vancouver for the past 7 years and I love it! Sales tax? No big deal. Homeless population? Nothing compared to Portland or some other large cities. Crime? What city doesn't have crime - I never feel unsafe walking around Vancouver, day or night. I leave my door unlocked all day while I am home, as do all my neighbors. In the summer some of them leave their doors wide open.
As to the weather: I've lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1973 and I guess I have learned to accommodate it. I will go along with your complaint about the growth of the city but as I am part of that problem I have little to stand on. And yes, traffic can be a nightmare.

Moving to Vancouver has been horrible, I regret it everyday and am moving far away in 3 months. Lasting that much longer is painful.

I love Washington and I love this area. Like any place there are good and bad things to take into consideration. For some, the bad outweighs the good. For me, the good outweighs the bad. The point of the video is to specifically address the negatives, so folks like you, who are considering relocating here can make a more informed decision.

Apartments are terrible here too, zero sound proofing everywhere and rude, loud, disruptive neighbors

In all fairness, I think that's just apartments in general.

I love roundabouts! Why do people not like them? They eliminate stopping at red lights, you can drive right through intersections smoothly....if people navigate them correctly. My gripe with them is people who STOP when entering when there's no car entering where they are. They'll actually stop and wait for a car that enters the roundabout after they do. Most people do well through them, and if folks would learn how to navigate them they'd be even more wonderful.

Vancouver is definitely the place I want to move to, as my initial step into Washington State. However, the escalating crime statistics are a genuine concern. And the growing numbers cannot be just brushed off as an unfortunate reality of an expanding populous. I am afraid the increase could be a direct reflection of "soft on crime" policies.

I tend to agree with you that the "soft on crime" policies have had the biggest impacts on rising crime rates. While there are areas of Vancouver that are sketchy, in my opinion, there are more good areas than bad. What's got you thinking about moving to Washington?
