WyseGuide I made your potato soup it was good. My garnish was sour cream on top, and pieces of crispy bacon. I added carrots, and peas for some veggies. When my potatoes were ready I mashed them, and the carrots to small pieces. Then I added my cheese let it melt. Then I took it off the stove added my cream. The flour I added to broth on the side, and stired it. Then I added it to the potatoes, and carrots while they were cooking. It did thicken up the soup. I feel I could have added the flour mixture one more time. But, next time besides that it turned out good.
I made this soup for a gathering we had last night and this recipe is SPOT ON! People raved about this soup. I offered sour cream to dollup with the bacon and cheese to garnish. This recipe is a keeper! Thank you Caleb!
Hey Kaleb .... Love your video . I was searching for the perfect recipe for Potato Soup . This is it . The ingredients , the texture , and winter is coming . This Will Be The Comfort Food . Thank You .
Since I have retired and the pandemic, I never cook the same thing twice in a month. Thank you for all your delicious recipes. I have made about 90% of your meal choices. Not all the desserts though.
My husband loves baked potatoe soup! He always orders it at restaurants! I made this recipe for him & he loved it!! Gobbled it up! I made him a big pot & stored the extra in freezer containers for him. He told me omg that soup recipe is so delicious, it’s a keeper!
Yummy! Great hardy, cold- weather soup! I have a funny story about bacon grease. In the south, we save bacon grease, too. When I was a young girl, I saw my mom saving the grease. When i got married, I started saving it in a jar. But one day, I realized I didn't know why I was saving it. So I called my mom and said, "Hey mom, I'm saving the bacon grease like you do. But what do I do with it?" She laughed 😂😂😂 and said,"I use it when cooking to flavor vegetables" (mostly peas & butter beans). So, with that mystery solved, I started flavoring my veggies as mom did! Happy New Year's everyone!
Kaleb, this looks good! I make a mushroom soup with the same technique, but I also chop up carrots for the aromatics and diced mushrooms…after sautéing,I add chicken stock, cream, heaping T.of sour cream, sprinkle of ground red pepper…then add bigger slices of mushrooms…let simmer..serve with shredded mozzarella cheese! The aromatics of the onions, celery, carrots and mushrooms are essential! I use this recipe to make beef stroganoff by adding fried ground beef and pouring over cooked noodles!(anyone wanting to make this,it is not with potatoes and bacon) I was led to find a good recipe because most of the canned soups have bioengineered ingredients. Enjoy, folks!😊❤️
I usually prepare my potatosoup without flour, but i am blending most of the potatos for binding instead. Greetings from a farmhouse in Switzerland to a farmhouse in Iowa. Happy New Year!
I’ve made this twice using this recipe and it is the best hands down My wife absolutely loves it especially now that it’s fall In Vermont it’s perfect for a cold day
I have made your soup and it was a huge hit. When my sister-in-law saw me mash part of the potatoes she said well I'll be😅.Never to old to learn.Thank you
I made potato soup yesterday and it was hideous - no bacon, no celery, not enough fat, no cheese. I’m going to try your recipe next time - it looks GREAT!
This is still my go to chicken soup after 4 years. I'm actually cooking it for a friend who returns home from surgery on Friday. Thank you for this recipe, it's one of the best👌
I had a potato soup with corn today. We were on the same wavelength. I love your version of using the celery leaves. Thank you. I flavour with herbs, onions and pepper because I cook without oil, butter or animal fat. Love your ideas.
This is one of the soups my German husband grew up with, but not with cheese. It wasn't until l made it for him with added cheddar that he now loves ! Sometimes l add cooked smoked sausage in place of bacon, equally as delicious 😋 ,
Everyone knows I love to cook but I love to eat more. Try this potato soup I can't enough. I try potato soup everywhere I go This one is truly delicious!!!!!!
I made this soup a number of days ago and , while absolutely delicious, I had to throw it away because it was way too salty. BUT I’m not giving up,as I believe that was my fault. Will get back to you again. Love your videos !,
Making this for dinner tonight. I'm at the simmer stage. I found you because your Christmas home tour popped up when I was watching those in November and December. Oh, am I so glad it did. Been binge watching your cooking videos.
I soo need this in my life. I never made potato soup. My mom would boil potatoes, onions and celery, add milk and butter to the water and call it done. That soup was made every Thanksgiving eve and served with crackers. It was very tastey...when i was 5. But this I will make. Now can you make and give us a recipe for oyster stew? That was our every Christmas eve dinner. She basically swappped out the potatoes. I need a grown up recipe for oysters stew in my life too.
We are on our way to Florida but to me it’s still the Christmas season. This potato soup looks fantastic and warm weather or not I’m going to make it when we get settled in the south.
I'm making a baked potato soup for St. Patrick's Day. I'm going to follow your pattern, as I don't make this often at all. But I'm going to roast the garlic and squeeze the garlic paste into the roux at the end (the roasting of the garlic creates a beautiful flavor and blends perfectly to whatever you add it to). For the garnish I'm chopping up some chives instead of the parsley. Can't wait!
Hi Wyse, I have Never had potato soup yours looks really good, Im written down the recipe, so I'll be making it real soon, I'm a soup girl during the winter months and it does keep my weight down LOL thank you for sharing this video, have a wonderful rest of the day.👋🙂 Happy New Year's🎉
I don't use the celery, etc, can use veg broth, my recipe calls for cream cheese cooked in it. Love ut. Though i make a whole recipe if too many potatoes. Next time i need to use smaller amount i suggest putting in the cream cheese!
You posted a recipe for cranberry sauce using orange zest and orange juice, but it was more as a side to another dish. I cannot find that video. Can you post it again if you know what I'm talking about? Thank you.
Where is Kaleb lately? It's been 7 days since he put out a video. I haven't checked any other social media platform to see if he put out a message. Does anyone know anything?? Is he just taking a holiday break or what?

Beth here... I just put a potato masher in the pot and mash up enough to thicken. Also, if you want it thicker you can add some potato flakes 😉
I have celiac, so I use potato flakes to thicken my soups. Works great!
What are potato flakes? Never heard of it.

I'm from Oregon and I grew up with my mom using bacon grease in everything, 40 years later I do the same! Can't wait to try this! Happy New Year!!

What is the steel flat scoop you use to bring your cut veggies to your pot? I NEED that tool!
It’s called a bench scraper, I think.
I bought one of those at the Dollar Tree.
Love mine! Great for scraping doughs off wooden cutting boards too. Happy New Year. God Bless.
This looks so yummy! I cant wait to try it your way!
🥂Happy 🥂New 🥂Year, 🎉Kaleb! Blessings,Fran
I add cheese to mine and make cheesy potatoe soup. Some times I also add thin ham instead of bacon sometimes, but mostly I always add lots of onions.

Hello 👋 ❤❤❤

Tis the season for chilli. Lol
How do you cut onions without tears, a runny nose, and stinging eyes?
When they are fresh from the garden, they do not sting the eyes. If store bought and not fresh, cut very cold onions.
I’ve heard that before but never the reason so why can’t you eat a green part of the potato?
It'll give you a tummy ache and you're down for a day
