All of the Cattleman’s seasonings look incredible, and I’ve tried a few. (Awesome!) But a video describing each one and what makes it unique (without giving us too many secrets) would be amazing! Or maybe like a Chef Tom’s Top 10 spice blends sold at ATBBQ or something. I would love to see it! Good work as always!
My wife (a self-described "novice" in the kitchen) made this dish tonight and it was amazing! Seeing her confidence grow in her abilities after following this recipe was awesome. Thanks for another great video!
Has anyone tried pureeing the whole soup to a thick creamy consistency and topping that with the sour cream & chive? Cause I just did, and it was wonderful! I also added a diced jalapeno to the mirepoix. I did this all stovetop, no smoke available so I added a teaspoon of Liquid Smoke and I took the pot off the heat at the end and added 1 1/2 cups of freshly grated sharp cheddar. I garnished with sour cream/sriracha and scallions. Another wonderful recipe from ATBBQ.
This recipe came in the nick of time. My dear neighbors furnace just crapped out on them Thursday night, & the part wont be in till Monday. Gonna take 'em a couple huge bowls, and a extra portable heater. Thanks again!
You're a good neighbor, I'm sure they appreciated that. It's always nice to see the vanishing art of being a decent human and taking care of one another isn't fully lost.
Tried this recipe this weekend and it was amazing - it was definitely too spicy/peppery though. We will be halving the cattleman’s seasoning next time so the kids can enjoy it 🙃
That, Chef Tom, is one hell of a nice-looking soup. And with the weather we are having (you are getting worse than us Hoosier/ Ohioans) perfect timing too. Awesome. On the grocery list for tomorrow, damn.
Use left over mashed potatoes., alfredo sauce, cook carrot a little ahead so your celery isn't mush. . Don't drain bacon , grease is flavor. . i also add broccoli and spinach. sharp chedder. home made Ham broth also makes it better. ☺
Does this recipe freeze well? Single father and I really wanna try it but I don't think my son and I would be able to finish it all. I know I could cut the recipe in half, but I would love to have quickly accessible frozen potato soup
Recently watched an 18th century cooking show about how potato soup was the #1 poverty food. This is like the version that found the princess's missing slipper!
I think I'd cook onion & celery in a cheesecloth sachet and blend that up along with a little bit of tomato. I just don't care for the texture of onion in any form & find cooked celery to have an unpleasant texture also.
It’s called that because it’s half milk, half cream. I guess it’s around 12%fat, we Americans use it a lot in our coffee, at least I do. I’m sure he used it in soup to keep it lighter and half and half doesn’t curdle so bad at a boil like heavy cream does. Hope this helps!
Chef Tom has forgotten more than most Chefs will remember. If you cant get a great recip (thats slang for recipe) from this channel,....well you should give up!
Looks delicious. BUT, cheese if used as a garnish always must preceed all other so it can melt, never sour cream first, nor lettuce first on a Taco, etc. This is a Cardinal food sin. And add a splotches of Cholula and your really dancing.

The Cattleman's grill website has info on all their spices and what it's used for.
I would love that as well! @allthingsbbq
We'll look into this idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
I’ll be looking to try this in 3 weeks. Going to follow your recipe. We shall see.

That's awesome to hear!
The sound of smooth knife work is like a wind chime on a midwestern spring day!
Music to our ears!

As good a meal as I've ever had,my Mother used to make a similar potato soup.
That’s lovely, thanks for sharing!
This would be awesome with a ladel of that green chile chicken soup mixed in :p
Totally!
Recently watched an 18th century cooking show about how potato soup was the #1 poverty food. This is like the version that found the princess's missing slipper!
That’s so interesting!
I'd bet some clams would have really made that soup great
Totally!! 🐚

Life is too short for Half n Half...
😂😂😂
EZ PZ, Im doing that soup tomorrow, got chili going right now.
lemon squeezy!
As a non-American, what is half and half? :-) Sure cream of sorts but not sure though. Thx.

@@ethanschenk1666 Thank you, much appreciated.

😂😂
This is the fast version. Really no need to blend anything... spuds will fall apart and cream up over time.
