Some FAQ's i didn't answer in the video - 60% scoped Sens - Dual Zone - 100 Aim Assist & Aim Smoothing - Yes, low Sensitivity is preferable for all hitscan heroes (Except Tracer) & hitscan weapons in other shooters Updates to my settings: - Sens upped to 35/35, making it easier to play Pharah & Tracer, both of which i play more in Comp. - Widow aim has suffered slightly. If you play McCree, Widow & Soldier only, i would recommend a sens in the 15-30 range.
GrimLoxx It's better on the pc, but you need the low sensitivity to react well in a console setting for sure. High sensitivity is only good for split second flick aim, which is super hard, you get way more bang for your buck on something lower.
GrimLoxx it depends on the hero you can also play on a low sens but lowering aim smoothing which feels like a higher sensitivity personaly i play 90/90 dual zone, 95 aim smoothing (it feels very different even its just 5 lower than normal), 95 aim assist so after practice you can play every hero with a high sens and with this tracer and genji becoming just "normal" heroes

Tracer - high sensitivity, high aim assist High sensitivity is a must for Tracer mains as you often need to 180 after blinking or performing similar moves. The high aim assist seems like a strange combo, but it works well for tracking targets. I would also suggest binding reload to one of the joint sticks so that you can continuously aim while reloading. Genji - moderate sensitivity, low aim assist Long-range shuriken fire is difficult to balance with close-range alt fire. I suggest you find a moderate sensitivity that works for you. Higher sensitivity also makes Dragon Blade more effective but lowers accuracy. Widow / McCree - low sensitivity, moderate aim assist Landing headshots with these characters is needed, so low sensitivity is helpful for accuracy. And I would suggest a higher aim assist for McCree than Widow because tracking is more important with him. Widow can have moderate or high sensitivity unscoped while the scoped sensitivity is adjusted separately. Hanzo / Junkrat - moderate sensitivity, no aim assist Flick shots with Hanzo look cool, but they don't do as much as consistent accuracy to land those one-shots. And aim assist with these characters is the opposite of helpful. You need to account for projectile time and drop-off, so aim assist only drags your crosshair where you don't want it to be. I've spent a fair amount of time with each hero here, and these are the settings that I've found work best for me. The gist of it is that projectile weapons should have low aim assist and precision weapons should have low sensitivity.
Low is 20-30, moderate is 50-60 and high is 80-100. The exact numbers don't really matter because it's mostly personal preference (I have tried everything with Hanzo's sensitivity). I usually test the changes in the training room to get a feel for them. And of course play a few quick play games to get adjusted before comp.

I'm really glad you mentioned the short crosshairs thing. A lot of TH-camrs say that dot is best, but for hitscans, like you said, short crosshairs would be better, considering how that is built to help you hit what you can see, rather than what the reticle is blocking.
Personally bloom does more harm than it helps. Some people can still ain with it no problem which is great but for most people its just too much of a distraction.
I'm far from one of the very best Widows on console. That said, basically all Widow mains in Masters or above, have mouse and keyboard hooked up to the console via. XIM

Jhonn Willian tbh linear ramp helped me aim. I used to be a cod player then switched to overwatch. Switching to linear ramp is more precise and feels just like cod.
Jhonn Willian I've done a lot on everything, and linear ramp is the bomb. it's only problem is that it's hard to do slight movements because the deadzone is a bit too big.
i come from STRAIGHT linear zero deazone apex legends and i could not stand ow sens at all honestly im playing on 66/66 linear no aim assist and i can finally hit way more shots

HOW TO AIM ON CONSOLE LIKE A PC PLAYER! PC players use a mouse so they aim different. To aim like them just follow these steps. 1. Switch Dual-Zone to Linear ramp. 2. Turn aim smoothening to 0. 3. PRACTICE! (It may feel weird at first.)
David White Linear ramp is the same system other console shooters tend to use. The further away from the center you move your stick the faster you turn going up linearly. 1x 2x 3x 4x The problem with this system is that those other console shooters (COD, BF) all have ADS. Meaning that you actually have 2 sensitivities. The hipfire one you use to move around and snap to targets and the aim down sight one which is slower and used to track targets. Since Overwatch doesn't have ads on most characters it might be difficult to either track targets or feel like you are turning much too slow on linear ramp. No aim setting is perfect but if you are comfortable with your aim in other console shooters it could definitely be worth trying out.

I am a widow main in console with 89 hours on her. I don’t play much competitive and I am at 2611. I can hit shots well with 67 horizontal and vertical sensitivity and 67 for my scoped sensitivity. I use a small red dot as my reticle and it is quite helpful. 97% of my kills are flick shots. I don’t know why but it works very well for me.
I would like to point out the sensitivity, yes, lower sens can be good but a higher sens is better for tracking and flicks but really it depends on you, I would say higher sens is better than lower and also turning aim smoothing to 0 helps a lot with widow, it just gets a little bit if getting used too
In the near start of the video- the suggestion of having the sensitivity lower doesn't really work for me when I play widow,but it does work for other heroes other then her. Which has helped! Also,helpful tips and excellent video. :)

Trust me when you claimed playing high sens is always bad you couldn't ve closer to incorrect. I'm currently #37 on Xbox 4555 sr. I Play 100/100 I know almost every player in top100 aswell as a huge majority of players in top500 and almost all of them play 100/100 and we all have near perfect acc while playing in game. I Play mccree at 100/100 and have a 61% avg acc. Consistently hitting dinks on pharah. Trust me, low sens is nothing but bad news. Honestly anytime I've seen anybody playing low sens at high levels I go tracer and abuse their turning disadvantage... Lows sens helps when you're already accustom to it. But if you take the time to learn 100/100 you will be much much much better
Yes, you can flick and turn faster at 100 sens, but that's worth absolutely nothing if you're not hitting anything. Some players can make it work, i don't doubt that, but this video is intended for players who are struggling with accuracy.
i never understood the 100 vertical sensitivity on characters. since the vertical plane of movement is usually confined to about 35 degrees as opposed to the 360 degree horizontal. and for me anything above 50 seems clunky af.. unless your using something other than a controller. *cough* *kbm* *cough*
Running high sense manipulates the fuck out of aim assist, low sense relies more on actual accuracy. Beyond a certain sense you starts pixel skipping and it's genuinely impossible to place shots at long range. However, using low sense makes you really vulnerable when you get dived as it takes much longer to turn. I've found a pretty good spot to use generally over most characters-60 horizontal, 40 vertical. It allows you to flick, manipulate aim assist, whilst still allowing you to place slow shots, have minimal pixel skipping and still 180 quickly when necessary.

Many other videos for aiming with widow on console say that you should have aim assist at 100, but many times when I try to aim at a target that is in close proximity of another target my crosshair will go crazy and try to lock on to every target it sees, and I choke many picks because of it. It is very annoying and I'm sure I'm not the only person this happens to. I would like to know what aim assist sensitivity you play on, and if you even play with it.
I main Symmetra and she is garbage with high aim assist. It ruins her whole kit. Aim Assist needs to be shifted from champion to champion, which sort of makes the game infuriating on console.
Can someone tell me a good sensitivity on PS4? I've been stuck in platinum for a very long time now. I just feel as if I've been missing easy shots sometimes
Finalhour10 I personally recommend playing at 100/100, 97 Aim Smoothing, and 100 AA. Go into the training range for around 15-30 minutes a day to build muscle memory and get used to the sens. This well help, but will be hard to get used to, if you are coming from a low sense. Play more also, that's how you will get better honestly. Just play more comp, record games, look over them for mistakes, and what not.
What rank are you on PS4? I feel like the consensus is that most high level players use high sensitivity. I think I'll try it. Right now I use 60/60 for most everyone except winston and rein (which I use 100/100).
I've been stuck around 2700 for a couple seasons. Another quick question actually...I use less aim assist for projectile heroes like most people in the comments suggest; however, how low do you think I should go with hanzo/genji/pharah? Right now I use 90 aim assist on them. And why 97 aim smoothing? Seems rather specific and would you even notice a 3 percent difference?
I am a ps4 player 70% winrate w tracer. 65% winrate pharah. just above 50% mccree. I play in diamond and master. I play dps most of the time with some tank flexing, and i have very good aim from a decade of playing fps with some mlg experience. I disagree with this video but respect his advice TIP: PLAY ON 100% SENSITIVITY, get used to it. HERES WHY- you need to be able to not only do quick flicks so you can get your shot of faster, but many heros require you to be able to do 180s mid fights. FOr example with pharah, if you want to play above diamond level with her uou need to use your concussive blast for your own mobility, this means swinging 180 degrees, using it, and swinging back 180 degrees. any less than ,max sensitivity will give you disadvantage. overwatch max sensitivity on console is lower than other games. for example cod max is much faster. i played years of mlg cod on max sensitivity so overwatch senitivity isnt even that fast to me, id put it at 120% if i could.
With tracer, you when you blink side to side, you need to have your crosshairs on the target by the time you get out of the blink. WHEN YOU BLINK STRAIGHT THRROUGH A TARGET you need to 180 right away to deal damage immediately. she needs very jittery quick aim adjusting, low sensitivity raise the time it takes begin doing damage. LOW SENSITIVITY LOWERS SKILL CAP if youre playing mccree and someone sneaks behind you, you have to 180 and flashbang so fast, low sensitivity you have such a lower chance of living. if you want to push high SR you cant forfeit those opportunities to live. another ADVICE: your left stick can be used to aim also, especially with mccree, TO LAND QUICK FLICKS- do the flick and if you are off by like 1-2 head lengths, you strafe in the direction of where u want to hit. being able to use both stick movements to aim will improve your accuracy so much
I play ALOT of Hanzo, and I find that the only way that I can take on a Genji or Tracer is to play at between 75 to 100 sensitivity. 15 sounds almost unplayable to me, because there is NO way you will be able to deal with fast characters why they jump on you.
pro tip, try enabling "dual zone" in the controls settings, it makes so that no matter if your sensitivity it's max out,moving a little bit your sticks moves barely your reticle, moving your stick so that it's at the max angle moves your reticle at the sensitivity you have
I would only recommend that if you 1. Play a LOT, & 2. Play no other shooter games. If you play other shooters that don't have the option for Dual-zone, your gameplay is gonna suffer in both.
Dual-Zone is enabled by default anyway, so you probably have it enabled without even knowing. Its much better than the other aim method "exponential ramp".
T Dub high sensitivity is not needed at all. It's bullshit. You need max 65 sensitivity. It just fucks your aim. Even on PC they lower their sensitivity, so 100 sensitivity just sucks. I had 100 sensitivity and when I switch to 60/60 i get better a lot. A LOOOOT BETTER

Although your argument for low sensitivity does have basis as being a generally benifitally gameplay choice, it should be noted that higher sensitivities on console shooters is very effective for "flicking" or as the more popular term, quickscoping, but applicable to most hitscanning mechanics. Im directly not reffering to the mechanic most applicable to sniper rifle in cod games but instead the act of moving your weapons' aim quickly past your target, firing when it moves over the target and stopping during or immediately after. I'm explaining this terribly, but essentially it's moving said games' camera linearly from left to right and waiting to fire when the camera is near the target
At around 1:40, you said that a lot of high skilled pc players use high sens. This is incorrect, if you see kephrii (this guy especially, you can see in his mouse can just how much he moves the mouse for a relatively small flick), sayaplayer, big boss pine and shurfour (lol don’t remember how to spell his name) use incredibly low sens. This is because even using a low sens increases accuracy as small mistakes(which nobody can make none of) have less effect on the overall shot, and using a mouse means you can quickly snap a long distance even with a low sens. Nice video though, you gave some great tips for console players.

Being good at Widowmaker is hard on CONSOLE (specifically XBOX), you mostly have to know the spots in maps. Even in bad widow maps! BUT remember a bad widow map is never a thing! people only say it's a bad widow map due to their play style and how much knowledge they have about it. for example go to route 66 in custom game. and then go look at every pixel of the map, also keeping the high ground is hard against hanzo. It's best to jiggle peek, move around, or etc. it's also best to know that route 66 is a Map with floating pads. Only use floating pads that go behind walls! being Widow also depends on how your team selection is, if you have orisa DON'T go behind shield! Why? Because the orisa shield can get broken quickly also orisa is a popular shield tank! orisa's shield is targeted because of it's size even reinhardt's. Sigma's shield also isn't good because it can be moved manually or quickly maybe even float and let your feet glide through! you should mainly use the surrounding's, like walls, high ground,or maybe even hide behind a high health character like D.VA. I recommend asking a friend that likes to be flexible and play tank to maybe protect you. Also tip: SENSITIVITY DOESN'T HELP! it's all about reticle, but sensitivity will be nice to change to 28. Having HIGH sensitivity ruins how you move.

bloom doesn't change the actual gun, its simply a graphical representation of the spread of the weapon so you can minimise the spread more easily.
I know that, which is also why having your reticle bloom doesn't help, when Bloom is maxed out after 2 shots

HOW TO AIM ON CONSOLE LIKE A PC PLAYER!
PC players use a mouse so they aim different. To aim like them just follow these steps.
1. Switch Dual-Zone to Linear ramp.
2. Turn aim smoothening to 0.
3. PRACTICE! (It may feel weird at first.)

Linear ramp is the same system other console shooters tend to use.
The further away from the center you move your stick the faster you turn going up linearly. 1x 2x 3x 4x
The problem with this system is that those other console shooters (COD, BF) all have ADS. Meaning that you actually have 2 sensitivities. The hipfire one you use to move around and snap to targets and the aim down sight one which is slower and used to track targets.
Since Overwatch doesn't have ads on most characters it might be difficult to either track targets or feel like you are turning much too slow on linear ramp.
No aim setting is perfect but if you are comfortable with your aim in other console shooters it could definitely be worth trying out.

I am a widow main in console with 89 hours on her. I don’t play much competitive and I am at 2611. I can hit shots well with 67 horizontal and vertical sensitivity and 67 for my scoped sensitivity. I use a small red dot as my reticle and it is quite helpful. 97% of my kills are flick shots. I don’t know why but it works very well for me.

I would like to point out the sensitivity, yes, lower sens can be good but a higher sens is better for tracking and flicks but really it depends on you, I would say higher sens is better than lower and also turning aim smoothing to 0 helps a lot with widow, it just gets a little bit if getting used too
In the near start of the video- the suggestion of having the sensitivity lower doesn't really work for me when I play widow,but it does work for other heroes other then her. Which has helped! Also,helpful tips and excellent video. :)

Trust me when you claimed playing high sens is always bad you couldn't ve closer to incorrect. I'm currently #37 on Xbox 4555 sr. I Play 100/100 I know almost every player in top100 aswell as a huge majority of players in top500 and almost all of them play 100/100 and we all have near perfect acc while playing in game. I Play mccree at 100/100 and have a 61% avg acc. Consistently hitting dinks on pharah. Trust me, low sens is nothing but bad news. Honestly anytime I've seen anybody playing low sens at high levels I go tracer and abuse their turning disadvantage... Lows sens helps when you're already accustom to it. But if you take the time to learn 100/100 you will be much much much better
Yes, you can flick and turn faster at 100 sens, but that's worth absolutely nothing if you're not hitting anything. Some players can make it work, i don't doubt that, but this video is intended for players who are struggling with accuracy.
ApexCris playing at a high sensitivity is better when you hae dual zone cause low sensitivity range is equivalent to have a normal low sensitivity.
i never understood the 100 vertical sensitivity on characters. since the vertical plane of movement is usually confined to about 35 degrees as opposed to the 360 degree horizontal. and for me anything above 50 seems clunky af.. unless your using something other than a controller. *cough* *kbm* *cough*
Running high sense manipulates the fuck out of aim assist, low sense relies more on actual accuracy. Beyond a certain sense you starts pixel skipping and it's genuinely impossible to place shots at long range. However, using low sense makes you really vulnerable when you get dived as it takes much longer to turn. I've found a pretty good spot to use generally over most characters-60 horizontal, 40 vertical. It allows you to flick, manipulate aim assist, whilst still allowing you to place slow shots, have minimal pixel skipping and still 180 quickly when necessary.

I main Reaper in quick play and in comp I main widow. I use a 39 sens and can consistently drop 20 bombs in quick play.

Many other videos for aiming with widow on console say that you should have aim assist at 100, but many times when I try to aim at a target that is in close proximity of another target my crosshair will go crazy and try to lock on to every target it sees, and I choke many picks because of it. It is very annoying and I'm sure I'm not the only person this happens to. I would like to know what aim assist sensitivity you play on, and if you even play with it.
I play with 100 aim assist. AA can be annoying at times, but the benefits far outweigh the downsides.

Aim Assist needs to be shifted from champion to champion, which sort of makes the game infuriating on console.

Finalhour10 I personally recommend playing at 100/100, 97 Aim Smoothing, and 100 AA. Go into the training range for around 15-30 minutes a day to build muscle memory and get used to the sens. This well help, but will be hard to get used to, if you are coming from a low sense. Play more also, that's how you will get better honestly. Just play more comp, record games, look over them for mistakes, and what not.

What rank are you on PS4? I feel like the consensus is that most high level players use high sensitivity. I think I'll try it. Right now I use 60/60 for most everyone except winston and rein (which I use 100/100).
I am a Mid Masters (3720) player, it is all personal preference, but 100/100 does help. I use 95/95 on mos heros.
I've been stuck around 2700 for a couple seasons. Another quick question actually...I use less aim assist for projectile heroes like most people in the comments suggest; however, how low do you think I should go with hanzo/genji/pharah? Right now I use 90 aim assist on them. And why 97 aim smoothing? Seems rather specific and would you even notice a 3 percent difference?

I am a ps4 player 70% winrate w tracer. 65% winrate pharah. just above 50% mccree. I play in diamond and master. I play dps most of the time with some tank flexing, and i have very good aim from a decade of playing fps with some mlg experience. I disagree with this video but respect his advice TIP: PLAY ON 100% SENSITIVITY, get used to it. HERES WHY- you need to be able to not only do quick flicks so you can get your shot of faster, but many heros require you to be able to do 180s mid fights. FOr example with pharah, if you want to play above diamond level with her uou need to use your concussive blast for your own mobility, this means swinging 180 degrees, using it, and swinging back 180 degrees. any less than ,max sensitivity will give you disadvantage. overwatch max sensitivity on console is lower than other games. for example cod max is much faster. i played years of mlg cod on max sensitivity so overwatch senitivity isnt even that fast to me, id put it at 120% if i could.
With tracer, you when you blink side to side, you need to have your crosshairs on the target by the time you get out of the blink. WHEN YOU BLINK STRAIGHT THRROUGH A TARGET you need to 180 right away to deal damage immediately. she needs very jittery quick aim adjusting, low sensitivity raise the time it takes begin doing damage. LOW SENSITIVITY LOWERS SKILL CAP
if youre playing mccree and someone sneaks behind you, you have to 180 and flashbang so fast, low sensitivity you have such a lower chance of living. if you want to push high SR you cant forfeit those opportunities to live.
another ADVICE: your left stick can be used to aim also, especially with mccree, TO LAND QUICK FLICKS- do the flick and if you are off by like 1-2 head lengths, you strafe in the direction of where u want to hit. being able to use both stick movements to aim will improve your accuracy so much

I play ALOT of Hanzo, and I find that the only way that I can take on a Genji or Tracer is to play at between 75 to 100 sensitivity. 15 sounds almost unplayable to me, because there is NO way you will be able to deal with fast characters why they jump on you.

pro tip, try enabling "dual zone" in the controls settings, it makes so that no matter if your sensitivity it's max out,moving a little bit your sticks moves barely your reticle, moving your stick so that it's at the max angle moves your reticle at the sensitivity you have
I would only recommend that if you 1. Play a LOT, & 2. Play no other shooter games. If you play other shooters that don't have the option for Dual-zone, your gameplay is gonna suffer in both.
Dual-Zone is enabled by default anyway, so you probably have it enabled without even knowing. Its much better than the other aim method "exponential ramp".

Although your argument for low sensitivity does have basis as being a generally benifitally gameplay choice, it should be noted that higher sensitivities on console shooters is very effective for "flicking" or as the more popular term, quickscoping, but applicable to most hitscanning mechanics. Im directly not reffering to the mechanic most applicable to sniper rifle in cod games but instead the act of moving your weapons' aim quickly past your target, firing when it moves over the target and stopping during or immediately after. I'm explaining this terribly, but essentially it's moving said games' camera linearly from left to right and waiting to fire when the camera is near the target

At around 1:40, you said that a lot of high skilled pc players use high sens. This is incorrect, if you see kephrii (this guy especially, you can see in his mouse can just how much he moves the mouse for a relatively small flick), sayaplayer, big boss pine and shurfour (lol don’t remember how to spell his name) use incredibly low sens. This is because even using a low sens increases accuracy as small mistakes(which nobody can make none of) have less effect on the overall shot, and using a mouse means you can quickly snap a long distance even with a low sens.

Being good at Widowmaker is hard on CONSOLE (specifically XBOX), you mostly have to know the spots in maps. Even in bad widow maps! BUT remember a bad widow map is never a thing! people only say it's a bad widow map due to their play style and how much knowledge they have about it.
for example go to route 66 in custom game.
and then go look at every pixel of the map, also keeping the high ground is hard against hanzo.
It's best to jiggle peek, move around, or etc.
it's also best to know that route 66 is a Map with floating pads. Only use floating pads that go behind walls!
being Widow also depends on how your team selection is, if you have orisa DON'T go behind shield!
Why? Because the orisa shield can get broken quickly also orisa is a popular shield tank!
orisa's shield is targeted because of it's size even reinhardt's.
Sigma's shield also isn't good because it can be moved manually or quickly maybe even float and let your feet glide through!
you should mainly use the surrounding's, like walls, high ground,or maybe even hide behind a high health character like D.VA.
I recommend asking a friend that likes to be flexible and play tank to maybe protect you.
Also tip: SENSITIVITY DOESN'T HELP! it's all about reticle, but sensitivity will be nice to change to 28. Having HIGH sensitivity ruins how you move.
