That's one way to compete. Offer colors other automakers don't. If fact make a list of everything others refuse to offer and do as many of them as you can.
Interesting how VW can admit that a DCT is the wrong choice for this type of car. Hyundai/Kia seems obsessed with trying to make their DCT work, despite their obvious reliability issues.
It's more of the fact they stuck a bad one in it compared to their normal dsg we'd see out of a Golf R/GTI, was not the normal programming we've come to expect with serious delays and slow shifts which made it kinda dangerous.
Vw has been making their DCT/DSG’s gearboxes for a while now ! Basically since the early 2000’s, fairly reliable when you change the fluid and filter on time
Never owned or driven one, but I’ve always been a fan of this little suv. It looks handsome and I always notice them in real life. Good to know they gave it more power and some refinement. It is reminiscent of Q3 vibes.
2022 Taos here. The transmission is a little jerky and weird sometimes but once you get used to it i kinda like it lol. Only issue I have is with the front brakes I don't know if they just installed really cheap brakes before selling me the car with 17,000 mi on it but i do 100 mi a day for amazon / door dash and its been pretty good so far. Also I'm doing oil changes at every four thousand miles instead of every 10,000 like Volkswagen dealership told me.
This video helped me decide to buy a 2024 Taos Comfortline Black Edition model! I love the looks of the 2024 vs 2025. I also love that the 2024 has actual buttons for the climate control! 2025 is gorgeous but I’m so happy with the looks of mine :) thank you so much!!!!! ❤❤❤
Love that color. I just hope the price increase is minimal or non-existent, because the current Taos was already expensive for its class and even got very close to a nice mid-trim Tiguan in price. Should be a great car as long as it doesn't get even more costly.
4:21 woah, a USDM spec German vehicle with proper separate amber turn signals! Now that we know they are capable, there's no excuse for the rest of the German models.
I had the 2022 for two years and that jerky acceleration is one of the big reasons why I just traded it in for a different car. I’ve never gotten rid of a car so fast it was a huge disappointment.
Wow that color looks great! I wish vw would put brighter fun colors on the atlas too… so boring looking at used ones. Every one is black silver or white or grey. So basic.
VW now has very incoherent tail light designs in its US model. Some have red turn signals, some have amber. VW is always consistent in its design look across multiple models, both inside and outside. It should just make every model use amber rear turn signals.
I think it looks awesome. I don’t know about the 1.5 T but the 1.4T that was the predecessor to this engine is extremely reliable from Volkswagen…. several of my friends have had the one 1.4 and they are nearing 200,000 miles no to minimal issues, as well as the Volkswagen community praises it for reliability. They have similar designs so I would hope that the 1.5 is also reliable.👌💯
I’ve driven both and my dad has the 1.5T and it seems to be smoother and get better mpg. He can easily get 50 mpg for a whole trip at 75 mph. The engine has been out in Europe for years so it should be decently reliable.
I like the greens that have been coming out in the industry the past few years. Ford with shelter green, BMW has a nice one, i like this color as it gives it character, and im happy to see it. Im so over white/black/gray. The last 4 cars i had were white, and im waiting on my Ranger Raptor to be built in shelter green
@pine111 Outside of Tesla, GM sold the most with the BOLT. The BOLT is coming back next year, so another problem for VW. ID.4 is way over priced. Otherwise, nothing against it.
That exterior color is kind of magnificent! Also really like the exterior design. Nicely done light design. Interior design, Not really a fan. Not horrible, but they missed the mark a bit. Could have used a larger main screen, and the gauges are lack luster. The main screen has WAY too much plastic border around it. They should move knobs to the bottom and increase the size to at least 12" by doing so.
Good stuff. Very nice exterior, the change to the 8-speed auto is good, because if you're not going to use your top of the line DCT, then this is the answer. The power is adequate for what this is. The infotainment screen though... what is up with that?!
Adding that screen to a gloss black plastic frame makes it look even more cheap. Please get rid of that already or change the bezels and button layout at least. It looks like that screen comes from a VW parts bin left over for like the past decade now.
Ugh, hope they fixed the engine, my 2022 had to have the engine replaced. And why does that screen build look like they pumped the breaks because their software was so crappy and just tossed in the old screen from a decade ago. VW needs to do way better than they have been!!!
I'm not sure about these changes. Glad that AWD is now available with the 8 speed automatic. The infotainment screen seems like a step backward from the integrated screen on the previous model as does the loss of actual knobs for the climate control. I didn't think that the Taos needed more power so the engine changes make me nervous about buying this in it's first year. I was really hoping for a green color option, my 2007 Rabbit was a beautiful sage green, but this color looks like it was selected by a 5 year old - not for me.
So, in the background, I see a drawing of a 2025 Tiguan on the wall, but the picture definitely shows a current gen one. Does it mean that the next generation Tiguan will be a 2026 Model Year?
VW SuperBowl commercial stated it was the lowest cost to own vehicle in its class before it was even on sale. Im on my third set of rear brakes and the last two have cost me out of pocket. 18k miles
It looks like a gussied up last generation leftover vehicle. Anyway, I stopped the video at fake exhaust. Just kidding, but I do hate fake exhausts. The one thing I do like about VW is their sunroof is designed in a way that it covers well into the rear of the car.
No automatic brake hold , something that VW and Audi do not add to the theirs cars in USA And I am so used to it … if do not have it is a deal breaker to me
I can't believe this is the top trim with that absolutely awful and cheap looking tiny center screen. The giant milky cheap gloss black plastic is an insult and the screen is tiny. It looks like a toy chinese tablet from 2012. The old version looked better integrated into the design of the dash. At least it didn't have that ugly giant black bezel with the cheapest looking plastic ever invented sitting there raised up on a pedestal front and center like it's the center piece of the VW soul. It's a downgrade. Awful. Ruined the whole car for me. RIP
Love that color. Any color in a car that’s not white, black, silver, or gray is a major plus.
That's one way to compete. Offer colors other automakers don't. If fact make a list of everything others refuse to offer and do as many of them as you can.
my sister got a 23/24 taos s. she absolutely loves it and the base s comes with so many standard features
The DCT in the Hyundai Elantra made sense, but everything else was strange for Hyundai.
To be fair, VAG makes the best DCTs in the market. The ones sourced by Kia group are junk.
Vw has been making their DCT/DSG’s gearboxes for a while now ! Basically since the early 2000’s, fairly reliable when you change the fluid and filter on time
Kia removed DCT from Seltos...
That green looks good. I would probably prefer a darker green more like what Porsche does
My cousin has one of these and the ride is really comfortable.
What about the fuel economy ?
@@alfonsom8286 28 city, 36 highway.
I have a 2023 Taos i have long term average of 33mpg. Sometimes i go up to 38-40mpg in highway. Really depends how you drive

Wife just bought 2024 yesterday and it is very sporty. I have has a 2025 Honda CRV Hybrid for a month now and like the Taos ride better.

I was about getting a Taos. I'll wait for this one.
Huge fan of this color with the silver accents.

Congrats on your purchase!! Fuel economy on the Taos is great and it’s a comfortable vehicle
I love my Tiguans 8 speed transmission. Glad VW put it in the Taos.
One VW car that did not need revising
OMG color is amazing! Good job Volkswagen!
Beautiful color! Fantastic redesigns and upgraded powertrain. This is perfect for me!
Love the color, hate that VW didn't do more work to change the interior, especially the infotainment setup.
Agree with the interior part
I love that they retained the physical buttons and knobs, hate the new buttonless design trend, makes using while operating such a PITA
@@jakes5530 This is definitely a positive with this previous generation interior. Otherwise it does need to be updated.
Actually looks kinda nice tbh
Great review. I'm thinking of the Taos as my next vehicle.

This 💯
The front reminds me of a Kia Soul. I love that color! Thanks for the video!❤
Great summary. Thank you
Love the interior design! Feels really premium for such a budget friendly vehicle
I wonder when the pricing will be released along with the lower trims
This is the best Volkswagen ever, IMO.
GTI is the best
Love the green colour.
4:21 woah, a USDM spec German vehicle with proper separate amber turn signals! Now that we know they are capable, there's no excuse for the rest of the German models.
That infotainment screen is just diabolical.
Seeing this excites me for the new gen Tiguan! It’s supposed to get some really good upgrades this year from what I’ve seen in the EU market.
So basic.
Good to see they finally updated the 1.5tsi to make the power it should've made from the start.
wait.. the mirrors have no turn signals!?
VW now has very incoherent tail light designs in its US model. Some have red turn signals, some have amber. VW is always consistent in its design look across multiple models, both inside and outside. It should just make every model use amber rear turn signals.
No power liftgate?
hopefully reliability will improve, its a decent looking SUV
Felt pretty spacious for a 6’4 guy like me. Gas mileage was great. However I prefer the pre refresh head unit. This new one cheapens the vehicle imo.
I think it looks awesome. Wow much nicer then the Corolla cross
These are for sale in the USA? I've never seen one on the road.
Nice to see they don't have the awful haptic sliders. Real buttons and knobs!!!
Love the strong door hinges.
Love the new green! Have been holding out for a new smaller suv hopefully the added power will work
I prefer the previous style but this one looks good. Great car!
I'm waiting for the vw ID7 to be seen on this channel thanks for today's update on the taos greetings from southern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I’m seeing Accord taillights 🤔
when ru going to review the new redesigned tiguan in the usa??????
Wow! I like this Taos much more with the upgrade. Did they actually use bright white LED lights on the overhead lights?
A little more interesting design, let’s see if it will be capable to push sales. Shame this cool color won’t be regular on the streets.
I drove the 24, and it was just fine and saw no issue!, Not sure about long term reliability of VW and many others but prices must go far down!!
Volkswagen you owe us hybrids !!!
For real! I want to see their line ups have hybrids. They perform so well already, I can only imagine what they’d do with a hybrid drive train
Perhaps this is the way to go, their EVs are a failure so far.
@@MrAndreCoutinho They sell more EVs than most manufacturers. So not a failure lol.
@pine111 Outside of Tesla, GM sold the most with the BOLT. The BOLT is coming back next year, so another problem for VW. ID.4 is way over priced. Otherwise, nothing against it.
Its funny how the Taos Cross Over has a more upgraded intuitive center dash compared to the ID4 you would think it would be the opposite.
Hey Sofyan! LOVE the Moss Green color! I also have a VW Jetta 2024 SEL and VW is awesome!
I'm hoping the production model has a different front (while still keeping the light strip) cuz it looks terrible
love when car companies make not boring ever day colors. to bad some of those colors come in higher trim levels
I'm waiting for 2025 Tiguan
The front bumper seems to follow other manufacturers styling choices. The bumper looks like it’s modified to accept a snow plow attachment.
Lmao

24 taos is a fun car. This 25 is better big time. I am gonna upgrade cuz i need a daily
thats a nice refresh
Unfortunately, just like the newly facelifted Jetta, the interior and infotainment are still stuck in 2017; they are still a generation behind.
It’s better than a huge tv screen blocking the dashboard or with no buttons.
It's a matter of taste. We have become a bunch of spoiled brats and bitch about insignificant shit.
Na. If its a huge screen it will get outdated soon. Its a car not a tv. .
Adding that screen to a gloss black plastic frame makes it look even more cheap. Please get rid of that already or change the bezels and button layout at least. It looks like that screen comes from a VW parts bin left over for like the past decade now.

will it need rear brakes every 5k miles is the real question we need answered 😅
They need an automatic liftgate and an r-line model!
That infotainment looks like it was made for a 2018 car
It’s better than a huge tv screen blocking the dashboard or with no buttons.
Despite the layoffs at the VW factories in Europe....
Wait for the next model year when they give it an actual modern infotainment display...
@@NeoTechOps Probably more like for a few more model years until the next generation arrives.
It’s better than a huge tv screen blocking the dashboard or with no buttons.

Nope
VW SuperBowl commercial stated it was the lowest cost to own vehicle in its class before it was even on sale. Im on my third set of rear brakes and the last two have cost me out of pocket. 18k miles
Interesting how VW is making more CB angels for the Taos for 2025. And the pricing is going to be a bit more expensive around $35K-$40K.
That screen is unacceptable-
Yeah fr like wtf is that?!??!
It's funny, I think that might be the best part. We don't need huge screens in cars. Simpler the better. More buttons, less screen.
And their main competition Bronco Sport just got a 13.2 inch screen. VW often tends to make sure you get less when you pay less.
@@Key_City_Kyle to me it’s the huge bezel that makes it’s a deal breaker. It already looks outdated.
Right! Why go with the tablet style and then give it those huge bezels? Would've been better to keep it integrated with the dash.
Sad that this is what replaced the Golf wagon and Golf for the US market. 👎🏻
@@TheCarGuru how true. I have golf all track.a perfect vehicle.

the rear reminds me of the accord and lincoln.
