Really appreciate you did the guide. It means a lot. Yes, a lot happened since this guide was released (almost three years ago!). They ended successfully the 10 BABYMETAL Budokan shows in 2021. Went on hiatus later that same year (October 2021 - October 2022). Then reappeared with a new album The Other ONE. Momoko Okazaki was announced as an official member on April 1st 2023 under the stage name Momometal. And then they toured around the world setting their absolute record for performances in one year at 94.
A lot happened since. New album (song that you reacted before is from that new album), new member, new collaboration, new tours, new shows... I think the best way for to continue is to check their song Megitsune. If you have time you need to check both official video and live. With Babymetal it's always better to check live, but Megitsune official video is so iconic, it's a must to see from my point of view
Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥 Nice beginner's guide to follow your BM journey, but like many comments you saw it's updated until early 2021 and a lot of things happened since then, mainly they went on hiatus for 1 year, came back with an album and new lore announcement as well new shows, world tour and later after album released they announced a new official member, Momoko Okazaki (one of the 2019 "avenger" mentioned in the guide) became MomoMetal, this is not strictly a replacement for YuiMetal, it's more like a new incorporation for this new metalverse lore and of course bring back the holy trio when performing on stage, she totally deserves it btw, there's also a new song feat Tom Morello outside of the new album and going back to their roots with the happy kawaii metal. Another song collab released last year was with the rapper Lil Uzi Vert called "The End" but that is something fans would love to forget, apparently lol The long version of this guide include more info about the lore so you can watch it when you're into more BM songs to understand a little bit more about it. There's a new recent more updated guide even shorter than this one and really enjoyable, it's called "So... What is BabyMetal" by Briaghh. Clubs works differently around the world, in my country clubs are outside of school system and are non governmental organization and association of people with multipurpose activities and sports, the biggest one are notorious for being football club (or futbol for us and soccer for northamericans). Japanese schools use this club system as way to give extracurricular activities for the students as well gather people with the same interests and hobbies, regardless BM under Sakura Gakuin where a fictional club as well all the clubs because SG wasn't a real school, although the show did a sort of training field for the girls and getting them ready for the entertainment industry. Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions: - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast. th-cam.com/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/w-d-xo.html - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo. th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014. th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997. th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one. th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014. th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do. th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs. th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday). th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live. th-cam.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/w-d-xo.html If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is. th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal. th-cam.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/w-d-xo.html - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014. th-cam.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/w-d-xo.html - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro. th-cam.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/w-d-xo.html - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case. - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts. th-cam.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/w-d-xo.html Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo. - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song. th-cam.com/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/w-d-xo.html This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list. th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html There's a more recent beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... Thank you for taking the time to watch one of the guides so you could find out more about BABYMETAL. They do have a very interesting and unique history. Also on April 1, 2023 Momoko Okazaki officially became the third permanent member of Babymetal. She had toured with them since 2019 and we are very happy and proud for her.
The biggest issues I have with the current guides is that they are out of date, and it still treats them as their past selves. They grew up, new member, new album, and new tour. For example, Moa is a complete 180 from when she was young, doesn't cry at all now, and is probably the most stoic of them now. It's kinda disappointing, considering the guide was made in 2021, so they were very much adults when it was made. Imagine having your personhood being immortalized when you were young, perpetually into the future, no matter how much you changed.
Most of their known personality traits are from their Sakura Gakuin days (and yes I know that they might have been acting even then since they are idols) purely because they don't really let their personalities show that much in BABYMETAL. They are almost always acting as their metal personas. So it would be kind of hard to update the guide because we just don't know how they are nowadays. Ofcourse it would be best if they guide said that this is kind of old info and said that nowadays the girls might not be like they were when they were like 15 years old so people watching would not get the wrong idea.
I don't think that's a problem. They were so cute. And anyone with half a brain should realize people change as they get older and also that they were acting. We don't know anything about them as people.
@@Tyyppl They are in fact very candid in interviews, that is how we know Moa doesn't cry at all, anymore. You update it by removing it altogether and only leaving in what current observations and information can reveal. Remember, I am not talking about past events, but what their personality entails. Momo still radiates joy and smiles a lot, even when she isn't suppose to, for example. If their past self aligns with their current self, then that is fine. Another example, the guide says 'off stage', but anyone paying attention to the 2019-2020, and especially this tour knows the Su's dorkiness has been unleashed. The idea that their 'metal persona' masks them disappeared when they grew up and no longer needed it. Case in point, Su acting like a complete dork on stage. Read through all of the Japanese sit down interviews, and what these girls are like becomes much clearer. We learn a lot, including their fears, and all the hardships they've gone through and how it's changed them.
Really appreciate you did the guide. It means a lot.

Thank you for taking the time to watch one of the guides so you could find out more about BABYMETAL. They do have a very interesting and unique history.
As you know this short guide was posted nearly 3 years ago and a lot has happened with several changes since then - but other comments have already said about those changes ... the most important being that the Avenger Momoko became the official third member to join Su and Moa in the "new" BABYMETAL on 1st April 2023, so she is now Momometal and finally she has a microphone and joins Moa in charge of 'scream and dance'.
There are a couple of more up to date guides which explain what else has happened, one is by Briaghh the other is by Omajination. You already have a lot of suggestions for more songs you can react to in the comments below - pick anything, you can't go wrong - just expect the unexpected since every song will be different to the last and the next will be different again.

Awesome! Really nice of you to take time to get to know the band you’re reacting to! Cryptic Misery’s guides are excellent. The longer version adds a lot of great details, so worth a look on your own.
A few other points to add:
*1). Sakura Gakuin:* I look at Babymetal’s “origin” group as a “trade school” to train young girls with aspirations to join the entertainment industry (music, acting, modeling).
*2). Babymetal’s Formation:* Producer Koba-metal, an avid metalhead, started Babymetal to revitalize a dying metal scene in Japan. It was an unproven concept without much financial backing early on.
*3). After the Guide Ends:* At the end of their 2021’s 10 Budokan shows, Babymetal went on hiatus. They returned at the end of 2022, with new singles, resumed live shows in 2023, then released their 4th album.
*4). Momoko Okazaki:* She continued to support Babymetal as the only “Avenger”. At the end of “Babymetal Begins” Day-1 show (Black Night), on Apr 1st, she was announced as the official 3rd member, now donning a mic as well, just like Moa.
*5). After Apr 2023:* Babymetal has done an EU tour with Sabaton, a US tour with Dethklok, and returned to EU for a headlining tour, along with various festivals in Japan. They’ve done almost 100 shows this year!
*6). Kami Band East:* Kami East started playing partial concerts in 2012, then became Babymetal full backing band starting 2014. After Babymetal went on hiatus in 2021, many Kami East members went on to do their own projects (also started new families). Doesn’t look like they will be able to continue to support Babymetal in the immediate future.
*7). Kami Band West:* Became Babymetal’s primary band after their return from hiatus. They have played 100% of Babymetal shows this year:
Anthony Barone (Drums, previously Shadow of Intent).
Chris Kelly (Guitar)
CJ Masciantonio (Guitar)
Clint Tustin (Bass)
Chris, CJ, and Clint were/are members of the band “Galactic Empire”.
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

Good luck
