Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey.🦊🤘🔥
Super rare first intro song for a BabyMetal reaction, but it's totally cool since you'll get a glimpse of what we said about always expect the unexpected with this group. Another special note is this is one out four songs with full English lyrics, so in general you'll hear the songs singing in Japanese or Japanese mixed with English lines.
It's also one of the most underrated song from this amazing group and I will tell you why next, but let's start with some basic info:
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
    About this song:
Although it looks like a new song from latest 2023 album, this proshot version performed in 2021 it's actually from Metal Resistance album released in 2016 and becomes one of the underrated tracks but hidden gem for some more fans.
This song was performed along with Syncopation in the middle of setlist during the anniversary set of 10 live concerts at 10 BabyMetal Years at Budokan 2021 - Doomsday III and IV (which means live concert 3 and 4 in order), it got that epic and ethereal vibes and it shows a mature side in BM second album, Metal Resistance. Both songs are part of that album, only thing is FDTD was released for international market and Syncopation only locally, of course is another suggestion for next reaction.
This is a long time waited proshot version for the fans, song was pushed to be performed again after many years and being played only one time at Hollywood Paladium in 2017 while on US tour when YuiMetal was still in the group, sadly for copyright disputes that proshot version never saw the light and we only have fancams of that.
Thankfully they performed this twice at 10 Babymetal Years Budokan 2021, and surprised everyone with this astonishing and beautiful production. Momoko Okazaki (now MomoMetal) was the avenger helping to fill the third spot and she did a great job.
About the backing band, they got a set of elite musicians to help her with the metal sound called Kami Band, you won't always see the same crew thou, during latest year they were around with a new set of westerners musicians called "West Kami Band" but during these 10 shows in 2021 they were the Japanese band or East Kami Band, some of them were with the girls since 2012, you can't see them in this clip but they are at the sides of the stage separately. Btw Budokan is a prestigious venue in Japan where many international and local celebrities went to play a lot of shows starting with The Beatles and many more, but it was build as a martial arts arena and for big sports tournaments.
We got some English lyrics of this a little bit more clear thanks to Papa Xan from Reactor Resource although this one is a fan edit with another English translation, but we don't have official lyrics yet, is one out of four songs with full English lyrics. Like someone said before, MoaMetal is like a body subtitles for this song.
Love that dubstep or brostep breakdown, is a genre widely know and popular around 2015 thanks to Skrillex among others, he actually become very good friend with BM and even invite them to perform during a Skrillex show in Japan playing a remix version of Gimme Chocolate!!
There are some more highlights on this Budokan 2021 shows but I'm gonna leave those details for later reactions.
    Next suggestion:
    - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV.
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:
      - Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! live at Legend 1997, SuMetal 16th Birthday in 2013, they got MV of this and is fun, but live is a blast.
      th-cam.com/video/LNFiDWJh2FA/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki, live at Budokan 2014, this is a SuMetal solo.
      th-cam.com/video/g2372C5PJLM/w-d-xo.html
      - Megitsune, official MV is my first recommendation but is usually blocked if you don't put filters, so if you want live and safe to react, check it out Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/dU38CYkpBvI/w-d-xo.html
      - Akatsuki Unfinished Version, SuMetal solo again but with only a piano behind special performance at Legend 1997.
      th-cam.com/video/nwsinmxTxbo/w-d-xo.html
      - Babymetal Death, live at Legend 1997, this is the big finale, you're gonna blow your mind with this one.
      th-cam.com/video/jRc9dbgiBPI/w-d-xo.html
      - Catch Me If You Can with Kami Band intro live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/ng8U_j0gpLI/w-d-xo.html
      - Ijime, Dame, Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014, sometimes the official live MV isn't so friendly so you know what to do.
      th-cam.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/w-d-xo.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      th-cam.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/w-d-xo.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      th-cam.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/w-d-xo.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      th-cam.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/w-d-xo.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      th-cam.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/w-d-xo.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      th-cam.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/w-d-xo.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      th-cam.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/w-d-xo.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official, this one is easily to find but be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      th-cam.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/w-d-xo.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.
      th-cam.com/video/Hg0Rylcg8F0/w-d-xo.html
This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.
      th-cam.com/video/q40VmTHSh4c/w-d-xo.html
And here's a BM guide (the long one).
      th-cam.com/video/gDne0xwniTg/w-d-xo.html
There's a more recent beginners guide at "Briaghh" called "So... What is BabyMetal?" is more short and with some fair update until this year unlike the other one.

"This is different" well, you wouldn't believe, but they got a song even about that, called YAVA!
BABYMETAL have been around since 2010, they made 4 albums so far.
They mix J-Pop with a wide variety of different Metal subgenres, so most of their songs are pretty unique, yet this one is particularly original indeed 😅.

An unusual one for a first reaction. FDTD was the exclusive track on the international version of Babymetal's second album Metal Resistance. This video is one of only three live performances of this song that have ever been done.
Babymetal is Japan's most internationally successful musical export. They are a fusion of Japanese J-pop vocals, dance, and aesthetics with heavy metal music to create a style of metal music they call "kawaii metal" (cute metal). The group is the brainchild of their producer/manager Kobametal, who wanted to revitalize interest in heavy music in Japan and thought that combining it with J-pop would make it more approachable for new audiences. The group began in 2010 as sub unit of the J-pop idol group Sakura Gakuin when lead sing Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) was 12 years old, and backing vocalists and dancers Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) were 10. Yuimetal retired from Babymetal in 2018 due to illness, and Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) became the new third member of the group in April 2023 after serving as a backup dancer for four years. Babymetal has been performing for over 13 years now, so Su-metal and Moametal have been in Babymetal for more than half their lives. Over the course of their career, they have released four studio albums, 18 live albums, gone viral, won numerous awards from the heavy metal media, performed on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, done multiple world tours including 94 shows in 26 countries in 2023, and won a legion of fanatical fans all around the world.
When Babymetal perform live, they are backed by a group of elite professional session musicians hand picked by Kobametal to accompany them that are known as the "Kami Band" (God/Spirit Band). The lineup of the Kami Band is not fixed, with members rotating in and out depending on availability, although most of the lineup are there pretty regularly. The Kami Band for this performance was: Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), Isao Fujita (guitars), BOH (bass), Hideki Aoyama (drums). At this performance at the Budokan, the band is positioned around the octagonal stage, they're just not really visible in this video, because officially the musicians are not part of Babymetal.
Some other Babymetal songs that you might care to have a look at are: Megitsune, Headbangerrr!!!, Metali!, Monochrome, Karate, and Road of Resistance. We always recommend that whenever possible, watch the live performances because Babymetal is in their element when they are performing for a live audience.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊This is a very rare live performance of this song, they have only played it live 3 times, once at the Hollywood Palladium in 2017 (only fancam videos exist from that) and twice at the Budokan 2021 concerts (they played 10 shows there as part of their 10th anniversary celebration.
You didn't see them in this video because of the stage set up, but the Kami Band - two guitarists, bassist and drummer - were positioned all around the stage at north, south, east and west.
The Budokan in Tokyo is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics and now also the most prestigious venue for concerts in Japan, so the stage was at the centre of the arena with the audience surrounding them on all sides.
BABYMETAL were formed in 2010 when the three members (Su-metal - lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal - backing vocals, harmonies and in charge of hyping and involving the crowd through their choreo) were aged 12, 11 and 11. We have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet.
Yuimetal last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
Su and Moa continued as a duo for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member.
BABYMETAL are like nothing you will have seen or heard before, they brought a fusion of great metal instrumentals coupled with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics to create their very own sub-genre ... and they have continued to develop and evolve from those beginnings.
They don't limit themselves to any one main style or genre and you won't be able to pigeonhole or put them in any one box like you can with virtually every other band in the world, they are one of a kind and they invented their own genre and style that nobody has been able to copy successfully (some have tried, none came close) including bringing choreographed dancing to metal (but not as you might know it from pop acts where it is nearly always used just to fill the stage or give you almost naked girls (and boys) to look at to take your mind off often bland music).
BABYMETAL's choreo helps with interpreting the song - a lyric or the meaning etc, but it is designed to involve and lead the crowd, to give them their cues when to jump, shout, pump their fists, chant and so on. BABYMETAL are complete masters of crowd control and crowd involvement.
They are supported in live shows by the Kami Band - some of Japan's very best session musicians, each one of them a world class instrumentalist. They first appeared in October 2012 and became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014.
In 2019 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced and they have been supporting BABYMETAL on their more extended foreign tours since then.
They have nearly 70 songs now, every one of them is different from the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will mix in other musical styles and genres with the metal, often when you least expect it. Some songs lean towards their pop roots others are just good hard metal and they do everything in between - so if you don't like one song no problem - try another, the chances are you'll love it.
You already have some good suggestions for more songs (each one different to the next) in the comments below - pick any of them, you can't go wrong ... the official videos are all very good, but BABYMETAL are a live performance act, that is where they are always at their very best.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

This is one of there more subdued songs, and they often do have the band on stage. I think you'll like what you see even more as you watch more. If you want to go full throttle in Babymetal, check out Babymetal - Tales of the Destinies (Tokyo Dome Live 2016) Eng Subs. It's such a technical performance, they've only done it one time live (in front of a crowd of 55,000, at that).

Hi from Ireland, great reaction and one of my favourites, agree with Enrico, choose monochrome live at pia its epic, then ho way back to their beginnings with road of resistance live in Japan, another epic, after that everything is just another bonus. If you want an epic solo later try Amore live at Wembley. Looking forward to more babymetal 😊

Good reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
Very uncommon song for a first time reaction to them. "FDTD" is a rarity in many ways: musically is a rare mix between dream trance and metal. Vocally: here is Su-metal (the lead singer) singing in falsetto (and then belting some crazy notes). Lyrically: this is one of their few songs which is all in English. About its release: it's only on the international release of their second album: Metal Resistance (not included in the Japanese version). Historically: before these two performances at Budokan 2021 they had performed it only once in 2017 at Hollywood Palladium in LA and they couldn't release that live performance footage due to copyright issues (ironically).
At this point you need to know only a few things: they started in 2010 when they were 12 and 11 years old. They are better live (you have already seen some of the reasons why). They are backed by a live band called Kami Band formed by session musicians, some of the best you can get. They are playing on stage in this video... only that they were almost "hidden" in some sort of trenches around the stage. They like to mix any music genre with metal (this song is a great example). So, always expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised. 😁
I'd like to suggest you something older and something newer, it's on you to pick the path to follow:
"Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): th-cam.com/video/QEsOaMbNFww/w-d-xo.html (this is from December 2013)
"Divine Attack" (Live at Clear Night): th-cam.com/video/INRPP78SvXs/w-d-xo.html (from April 2023)
    Enjoy your BABYMETAL journey!

Welcome to Babymetal, glad you enjoyed this song! Interesting first choice though, it’s an excellent song, but very unique.
Also, the band is always there. This was a circular stage surrounded by audience, with each of the 4 musicians at each “corner” around the stage.
Babymetal is a powerhouse live performance act, and a 13-year veteran of the music industry who started in 2010 when they were 12/11 years old. They have 9 years of world tours, 4 albums, and 60+ songs to their name.
A few suggestions to give you a well rounded picture of Babymetal:
*1). Monochrome (Live, Pia Arena MM, 2023):* A new and heartfelt hard rock performance with heavy metal elements.
*2). Metali (Official MV):* Their newest single, ft. Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. Fun and energetic song about a metal festival.
*3). Road of Resistance (Official Live):* A fan favorite, and Babymetal’s classic power metal anthem of a show closer. Watch 17/15-year old Babymetal lead a 20K sold-out crowd on an epic wall of death and circle pits.
*4). Headbanger (Live, Legend 1997):* IMO, one of THE quintessential Babymetal songs showcasing what they represent. This Dec 2013 concert celebrated lead Su-metal’s 16th birthday. These gals have been rocking shows even they were kids.
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

BabyMetal was formed in 2010 and is a fusion of metal and j-pop which they call kawaii (cute) metal. The group originally consisted of Su-Metal (12), Moa-Metal (11) and Yui-Metal (11). Sadly Yui left the group in 2018 citing health issues. April of 2023 the officially made Momoka an offical member returning the group to a threesome. IF you wish to continue your journey I'd recomend Headbanger (Leggend 1997 show, Su's 16th birthday), Road if resistance (Live in Japan) . If you wish to see the backing band (Kami Band), you may want to check out Rondo of Nightmare with the mischiefs of metal intro.

The band do feature in many of the live shows. They are the Kami band, comprised of a rotating roster of highly skilled musicians.
You'll probably really enjoy any BM song listed with an intro, as the band get to show off their solo skills.

Very nice first reaction. Just wasn't quite sure you knew or not but there is definitely an amazing backing band playing. You just can't see them in this video. Many fans-me included consider this song a somewhat overlooked gem in the Babymetal repertoire. I like that you realized so quickly how unique Babymetal is. They are always testing new sonic waters and influences. Meaning every new song you hear will have surprises galore-including opportunities for the band to shine. Would love to see more reactions, just a suggestion. Babymetal is legendary for their live performances and I can safely say most fans prefer live videos for reactions. Again you couldn't see it here but BM have incredible chemistry with all their audiences and that interplay ads such energy to a reaction video. You got my sub and thanks for the reaction.

But they have today nearly everything between heavy metal to more J-Pop orientiert songs. The Band is on stage but the stage that is Shows is in reality a crawler that can move by itself. It Container the hydraulics, lighting, Audio and smoke-equipment for the three girls to move in the audience, but no Placebo for the Band. Thats the Problem of the oversized arenas in Japan.

Every Babymetal song is different and unique. There are only 3 rules to reacting to BABYMETAL...
    1. Expect the unexpected
    2. Expect the unexpected
    3. Always watch the video to the very end or you may miss something Kawaii.

Subbed off the Tom McDonald reactions and I really dig your vibe.
You should definitely check out more Babymetal stuff. They not only have a great story but because they started as a Metal fusion group they tend to play with various musical genres as well as cultural sounds.
Shanti Shanti Shanti is one of my favorite blends, but not one of their more popular ones.
I'm sure The One will show up with recommendations lol, but you will not regret the trip down The Foxhole.

BABYMETAL is not metal band but 'METAL DANCE UNIT'(in official).😁
I think you'll like 'Bring Me The Horizon - 'Kingslayer' ft. BABYMETAL (Live In Tokyo)' on TH-cam.😁

The band is there, they are surrounding the stage. They aren't the easiest to see already, and unfortunately, to get this particular video on YT, they had to do some video modification which cut them out.
I would suggest starting with recent performances of Megitsune, Road of Resistance, Monochrome, and Mirror Mirror all from their latest concerts BABYMETAL Begins, Black and Clear Night. I included a playlist of recent performances in a reply to this.

    👍 👍
Wow so unusual for a reactors first experience to be this LIVE song/perfomance. But great reaction.
To get a real idea of the talent/ability of these young ladies suggest the HQ pro shot video of a recent LIVE performance (link below)
BabyMetal began 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed little interest and the girls had financing mainly from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again.

Welcome to the fox hole and glad you liked the song (it’s my favorite tho!). The Kami band that was backing Babymetal was positioned around the stage, one musician at each side (drummer, bassist, 2 guitarists) so the fans were able to see them actually.
Babymetal started in 2010, so it’s not a new “thing” and they have been filling huge arenas since then with their biggest show drawing in 55.000 fans on each of their 2 shows at the Tokyo Dome.
Their discography is like no other band, so always expect the unexpected 😂. 🤘🔥🦊
