- I purchased this rack 8 months ago and this is what I've learned. Great rack, good quality, and hits all of my expectations. The rack has a heavier load capacity than most regular bike racks. It also folds into a VERY compact unit. Here is the Amazon link: linktw.in/iBYZbR
All Accessory Links are below:
I get a lot of requests for Amazon links, etc. I have them all organized here by topic, along with more in-depth information here: www.evolutiona...

Thank you for your video. It had all the info I needed. What you shared with us that other videos for this bike rack didn’t show is the movement of everything after all was tightened. I didn’t know if that was normal. You showed that this is normal. THANK YOU so much for showing that as I had all tightened the way it should but have two 60 LB e- bikes on my rack, is a lot of weight. As you showed us the movement is normal. 🙌🙌 GREAT VIDEO 👍👍👍
You’ve done this before. Rock solid presentation. Don’t stop, you say all the essentials
Thank you, Jean. Nice comments like this are very encouraging. Thanks!! -Tom
Thank you for your time of making this video to help me make the best decision!!🤗
I'm shopping for a rack for my Rad Rover and this was super helpful. Thanks!
Thanks, John. I appreciate the positive feedback. You don't always get that on TH-cam. LOL. -Tom
Good video. If your bikes touch each other on the rack or have close points I always use an old inner tube. Flexible, wrap around easily, long to cover larger bits and easy to tie off and weather proof. Just a thought.
I never thought of that, John. Great idea, thank you. I know just the tube I'm going to cut up! That's why I enjoy the comments so much. Thanks! -Tom
Owner about a year. Very pleased with rack. Two ebikes @ 54 lbs. each. The tight hitch is excellent. There are spacer arms that come across the top and have unlimited mounting options to each frame. Bikes sit still. Use the ramp alone, but loading works better with another person to check for contact points. ***** Five Star. My bikes are 2.5" tire width on Blix Aveny Model.
Ebikes are in the mail and I am looking for a rack, Thanks for your video that is very clear and explains everything very informative. This is the rack I need, both bikes will weigh 68lbs each. One great big thanks.
Your comment is just what I hope for when making videos, Pascal. Thank you very much. You are going to love your bikes!! -Tom
We just purchased 2 ebikes and were concerned about the weight. After listening to your presentation, you reassured us that this is the exact bike rack we need to buy.
That makes me smile, M&J. I hope it's just what you are needing. I would buy mine again today if I were shopping for one. -Tom
This rack euthanized my $10k e-bike because the tilt feature failed. Buy at your own risk.
What happened? I am thinking of buying this rack
@@berniecolin7 , the tilt feature is very suspect. The rack is supposed to tilt so you can open your tailgate. When you tilt the rack back up it “locks” in two different positions when it should just be one. The first position ensures that if you accelerate your vehicle l, your bikes will return to the tilt position and fall off the rack as you merge onto the highway. The second position is actually locked and secures the bikes. It’s VERY difficult to tell the difference until your bike(s) are dragging along the asphalt behind you. This rack should be redesigned so it only has two obvious positions. Tilted or locked. It’s the in between position that kills bikes and is a danger for all on the road.
Thanks for the review. I just ordered 2 folding ebikes. They can fit in my SUV, but I am concerned about their weight versus my back!
Fantastic video. Refreshing that you waited 8 months before you reviewed it, (so we get to learn properly about it and not simply assembly / unboxing). Bravo!
I don’t know how I missed such a nice comment. My apologies. I enjoy feedback like that, thank you!! -Tom
@@evolutionaryTom No thank you!!
Great video and review of the Thule EasyFold bike rack. It's not my favorite bike rack but has several great quality such as it's weight, ease of handling and compactness. We (Kody Technologies) make a bike rack light with tail, turn and brake signals for the EasyFold (and many others) and wanted to share. The lights keep you safe on the road. I've used a wide variety of bike racks since we're in the business of bike racks and you did a great job of summarizing this one. Thanks!
I bought a $3.3K Trek ebike from the Trek bike shop and I also bought this exact rack from the same shop for $799.99 as a sale price and it's brand new unboxed. The original price is $999.99. If I've found your video earlier I would have saved some money on this rack ☺️. Thanks for sharing your video.
Good catch though. You have to keep your eyes open to get it when it hits that “store”. It’s been a good rack for us. -Tom
Hi , nice review, I just got one, you have to slide the ramp lip all the way in and it clicks. if you don't it can slide back out and fall. just push it in till you feel or hear that and its much more solid
Great video and very good straight forward detailed description.
Thank you, Alf. I appreciate the nice feedback. -Tom
Great review with great advice here 👉 @8:29.
Will definitely look into this type of bike rack!
Thanks, Daniel. I appreciate the nice comment. Glad it was helpful! -Tom
Nice currently looking for ebike rack for my fat tires ebike, road bike and mountain bike. Thinking of getting another ebike in the future and this video is very informative thanks and nice video.
Thanks for the nice comment, John. I really appreciate that! -Tom
got mine Sunday...they were not available in BC and was on a wait list in Calgary Alberta. Paid total $1049. The did not come with the longer tie down straps, for the fat tires, so thats about another $100 for 4 straps for the two bikes..drove to Calgary to pick it up. They wanted $300 to ship. Sadly did not look on Amazon only at Thule dealers.
You would think that the price of the carrier would allow them to provide the extra straps in the box. Just like you, I had to purchase mine as well. Love the carrier though! -Tom
Nice job. The only think you didn’t show is how you lock the bikes in place. Thank you
Check out his newer video
Great walk thru. Very appreciated. I have similar setup - radmini for the wife and a juiced CrossCurrent for myself. I will be purchasing this carrier. Thanks
Thanks for the nice comment, V V.
V V Did you buy the XXL straps for the rad mini?
Yes we did, Jane.
Nice demo, thanks. I would lighten the load some by removing your batteries,14 lbs.
I do remove if I'm driving, Jesus. Excellent point though. I should have done it for the video so others get the message as well. Thank you. -Tom
I have almost the same setup as you. I have the same rack and Ripcurrent S and Lectric XP. The youtube algorithm must be pretty good to recommend your video to me...lol
Thank you for the great info but I was able to cross this rack off the list for the bikes being too close. Thule XT2 Pro for me.
Thanks for nice comment, T. If it helped you get to what works best for you, that's what matters. Enjoy! Thule is a great brand. -Tom
Excellent review Tom THANK YOU! from San Diego,CA
Great review I have been looking for a deal as well.
Thanks, Mark. Hope you find one. It was pure luck on my part!
Excellant démonstration and tutorial. Thanks
Thank you, Gerald!
Very nice, informative review. Hope to order one these racks soon for our two Rad Rovers.
Thank you, Connie. I've got Thule's extended ramp coming this week. It will decrease the angle when loading the bikes. I'll be doing a review on that this week. -Tom
Thanks Tom you did a great job!!
Thank you, Charles. I appreciate the nice comment very much! -Tom
Definitely a good choice for an e-bike!
The rack that attaches to the side so that you can guide the bike on the carrier needs to be snapped in place, then it is not so funky to use. You may already know this, but just in case.
I didn't know that at the time I made the video, Ted. I realized that and the next video on that rack I tried to point that out to others. Thanks for the attention to detail and the knowledge share! -Tom
Good ebike rack
Nicely done very informative. Excellent - you could be a product manager for Thule LOL.
Thanks for the very nice comment, M W. Much appreciated. -Tom
I load three bikes (one of them is an e-mtb) on the roof at the moment and I’m considering this kind of rack. But I cannot decide: I actually think either kind of rack is not really safe (watch how much this one wobbles just by touching it)
Best rack for E Bikes that I have found. It wobbles because the back of the car is wobbling not the hitch or rack. Plus our Pedego bikes are 50lbs and my wife can not lift them on the rack without the ramp that comes with this rack. Works really well. Took a 1500 mile trip to Wisconsin with 2 Pedego's and had no issues. One issue I found is with a cover on it will block your tail lights and license plate which is not a good idea when driving after dark.
Well done video. Thanks for the tips of experience.
Thanks for watching!
Great job and nice video. Thanks for your attention to the details
Thank you, Kenny. It's comments like yours that help me get better! -Tom
Just for information, although BRINK tow bars state this Thule Cycle rack will fit an E Niro Tow Bar, I can assure you, it doesn't.
Excellent video, very informative, thanks for posting it.
Thanks, David. I appreciate your positive comment. -Tom
Thank you, now I know what rack not to buy.
Being helpful can go either way!
Might try pool noodles for scrape protection!
Great idea! I'm getting one. Thanks, Mark. -Tom
Unfortunately the Easyfold XT does not fit most Ebikes - the wheel straps are too short and the mounting arms are not long enough. Its a shame because its a nice idea - just not properly designed.
OJ, I had to order the extended straps. I knew that before I bought it but you would think that they would come with those for the price. My JB RCS is the XL frame and it fits well.
My concern is getting the bike onto the rack. Ebikes are heavy. The ramp looked tiny. And, I would be loading by myself. Thanks for any suggestions you might have.
They are heavy, Gloria, but I think a ramp is the easiest way to go. My rack sits up high because of the vehicle. It has a fairly steep ramp approach. I don't think a lower vehicle would have that issue, therefore making the angle easier on the pushing up of the bike. -Tom
very helpful review. thank you!
Thanks for the video, I'm looking for the saving with honey on product from Amazon
Yep.. Batteries always ride in the car
A good ebike rack is hard to find. I personally just fold my Radmini, Radmini Step Thru and put them in the Tucson when traveling. Drawback is no room for other stuff. Positive is better security.
Do they both fit in your Tucson at once, J.B.?
@@evolutionaryTom yes. Have to lower the back seat and place them vertically side by side. Backbreaking!!!
Great review! Thanks 🙏
LOL okay now that i've seen someone load bikes THAT big, i have no concerns with my specialized turbo vado sl 4.0 and my partner's Norco VLT charger
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks, Jerry and Linda. I enjoy your videos as well!
We have ordered e-bikes and I'm shopping for a rack for our Kia Sorento. Disappointed to find that ones beefy enough are expensive! This biking isn't cheap... hitch + rack + helmets+ locks + mirrors + phone holders + add ons!!!!! I liked the rack you showed. We got a Ride1up 500 step thru and a 700 step thru.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Check out this rack, Jerry. It's about half of what the Thule costs. amzn.to/3sBvFKz It's made for the weight of E-Bikes. A friend of mine, Steve, has a channel and you can see his review of it here. th-cam.com/video/9BWwBG4x4BU/w-d-xo.html I got my rack for $418 because it was a scratch and dent through Amazon Warehouse. Kidding of course. It's a great couples activity. I bet they even have an E-Bike club down there. If you have questions, feel free to email me. tchornstein@gmail.com -Tom
Great review....Some racks mention step-thru s like Lectrics XP wont work. Comments
Thank you, James. Yes, some of them need an accessory bar so that you can still use them on a traditional rack that needs something to clamp to. It will be interesting to see how the bike rack companies change their designs to accommodate more of the step thru bikes since they are so popular.
I have one of these for 2 e bikes and i can honestly say its the dogs bollocks!
I had to Google that saying, Trevor! LOL. Glad you endorse the rack as well. Still have mine and it's the only one I've kept. -Tom

Kim, I think you'll find that in my "Answering your Thule questions" video on my channel. -Tom
Great job.
Great video, Tom! I just bought this bike rack for my European e-bike that I moved back with me from Amsterdam. I’m struggling with figuring out how to get the clamp to securely lock to the frame, which is sounds like you had to tinker with too. Any suggestions on which parts of the frame are the best to use?
Thanks Tiffany. I'm literally in the garage right now making a video about that. Weird!!! Should have it out sometime today.
Very coincidental! I’ll keep an eye out for your video. Help is needed :-)
Watched your review again. Looks like you’ve had football days and you’re lucky and you can lift those babies. Don’t the straps come with the rack or does one require longer straps.
Hey thanks for the video , the rack works great ….any suggestions or video on pulling the rack out of hitch ?
I've gotten that suggestion a few times, Joe. Seems like that should be a signal for me to make one. I'll get one out soon. Thanks for the suggestion. -Tom
Very helpful video. In all of your research have you come across a rack for two ebikes that also has a lighting system?
I also saw where the clamps for the frame of the bike only handles a 3 inch diameter.
I have the Rad Mini step through, which should be fine. However, my friend has a Sondor Fold XT and its frame may be a little wider because the battery is built into the frame. I’m just waiting for him to give me a measurement before ordering this rack. TIA
Great review!
Thank you, Fay. I appreciate your nice comment! -Tom
btw you have a different version then the usual one!!
Another great video thank you. That answered all my questions.
Thanks again, Susan. I'm glad that was helpful! -Tom
You got that rack for a deal! It's $1k these days!
Great video. Have been using mine for over a year but you showed me some great tricks. One question how do you put your liscence plate on the rack
Tom I have a RadRunner Plus Step Thru bike. Will I need a bike adapter bar to be able to secure the bike to this rack. Thanks for doing this--very helpful
Great video, question, so after two + years are you still sold on this bike rack? Looking at getting one but the price now is about double what you were able to get one at. Thanks.
If you lift the ramp to a horizontal position, it clicks into the ramp. FYI
Also, the knob on the hitch also clicks when properly tightened.
Thank you, Mark. I learned that after this video was made and included it in my "Questions" video on the ramp later. I wish I would have noticed it earlier. I appreciate your contribution. -Tom
Worth the price
Good job
Thank you, Steven! -Tom
Thank you for this. We have the Thule 2T Pro XT that we purchased for normal bikes, got the e-bikes and went to load them and I can’t lift them on my own, so we are looking at this one. Why didn’t you use the ramp to load the second bike? Would using the ramp have been an option for both bikes?
Thanks for sharing! How’s this rack working for you today? Still lasting?
Good video.
Because we use this bike rack with our e-bikes... we want to cover our bikes to protect them from the weather... but in doing so... you can not see the lights of the car... do you have a way to add the lights like trailer lights
do you know of anyone that sells something?
I just purchased this rack and while all the features are great, the amount of dancing and jumping around the bikes do when going over bumpy roads is concerning. Watching your video, as you push the bikes a bit on the rack, it looks like yours is similar. Do you notice a LOT of movement on the bikes when driving? The rack itself is tight and secure in the receiver - the *platform* the bikes are on moves a LOT.
Thanks for the comment, Michael. It is concerning...... at first. I used to put a 375 pound motorcycle on a hitch rack and I was white knuckled driving for the first half dozen trips, all because of the rocking back and forth. Then I realized it's engineered for it and all was well. I think it's the same with these. You need some rocking and movement in order to help absorb the force of the bumps. If it was rock solid then all of the energy would have to be absorbed by the bikes. I'm no scientist as you can tell, I'm just taking a guess at it. If you look at my latest video on the Saris rack you'll notice that when I show the test drive. They all sway to some extent. I appreciate your question. -Tom
Thank you for the demo Sir.
Thank you for nice comment, D.M. -Tom
You do know 2 Lectric Bike XP's would fold and fit nicely in the back of your SUV. LOL

Still a good one. I'll be using mine today. Great setup!
Thank you. I purchased this bike rack used and came in good shape. However, of the bottom light gray panel / bottom cover is out of place and haven’t been able to clip it back. Any tip to get it back in place ?
No Hitch Pin? Not sure about that !!
Thanks again for the video…can this rack be used for ebike and a regular peddle bike at the same time. Also, can it be used for one or two regular bikes?
$700 is too much to pay for a rack that requires a selection of rags to be stuffed between bikes to prevent damage. It looks like they spent more time engineering it to work well in storage rather than in use. It looks like keeping the bike on the rack could be a struggle until the first wheel is strapped down. I think I'll pass on this one. REALLY good video, though. The level of detail in the video makes it easier to decide whether or not to keep this rack on my list of candidates.
Thanks for the compliment, Evan. I will add that my RipCurrent S is a beast. If I had two of another kind on it, it might not be so close to each other to rub. But, Thule should know how big these bikes are and should/could easily engineer a little more width in there. -Tom
@@evolutionaryTom I'm about to make my first ebike purchase, and the RipCurrent S is the current leader in my choices. I'm really having trouble finding a rack that handles the 70+ pound bikes, is well made, affordable, and easy to use. Getting all four of those in one rack is harder than I anticipated.
I was lucky to find a "scratch and dent" on Amazon. Keep looking. There's deals out there. -Tom

Do you have a video for using this rack with e-bikes that have full fenders (front and back)?
Thank you
You're welcome, Susan. Thanks for the nice comment! -Tom
Does the lock mechanism on the receiver portion of the rack get gummed up? Seems that a simple lock like this, located so close to the pavement, will be subject to getting fouled up by road salt, dirt, etc. and will soon cease to function. When you tighten down the knob all the way, is that sufficient to keep the rack solidly attached to the receiver without locking it?
Great video Tom, what is the Chrome Honey thing that saved you money?
Thanks for the compliment, Brett. Here's a link to the Honey site and you can download their extension. What's cool is that whenever you are in a "Cart" checking out, regardless of the site, Honey will pop up and tell you it has coupon codes that it can try for you. Sometimes it's one and sometimes it's 20 coupons. It automatically tries them all and you usually end up saving money. Works on anything from ordering pizza online to clothes, and all kinds of stuff. Great video, thanks. One question. What if the ebike is a step through, which won’t have a top bar to attach the upper clamp?
Clamps can be moved on the U bar they are attached to. So it allows clamping options Deleon bike. Very versatile. Just bought one.

Great review. I received my Thule easyfold XT 2. I see they offer fat tire straps . Did you have to change the original straps that came with the rack?

Hi Tom, I have a similar set up as you and was curious about the weight for the rack. I have the RCS and its heavy as you know, the rack states it recommends a max of 65lbs each bike. Have you had any issues with your two bikes on your Thule? Does it feel secure?
Hello, Mike. I've had zero issues and it does feel secure. I have no hesitation on long trips. Our second bike on the rack is a Rad Mini. I take the battery off when it's on the rack. I also take off the bags unless were going somewhere fairly close by. I used to have a 300 plus pound enduro motorcycle on a trailer hitch rack that I'd tote around. Getting used to that took a long time before I wasn't driving with white knuckles. I think it's the same for this rack and E-Bikes. Every trip you have with no issues will make you that much more comfortable. BUT, I will say this. Slow and steady on the loading of the bikes is important. I don't think the system is overbuilt. So I make sure the tilt mechanism is in the secure position, that the bar clamps are as tight as I can get them, that the receiver lock pin is in place. I check all of that a few times before I take off. I've heard of people finding out their bikes where tilted back when driving because I don't think they clicked it in the up position hard enough. I don't want that to be me. Those are just my thoughts, Mike. -Tom
@@evolutionaryTom I will be taking the batteries off to help keep the weight down. I think the rack feels pretty strong, but I've only had one ebike on at a time. Thanks for the tips, they are always appreciated !
What about the rear lights of the car being covered up by the bikes? Are those two red things on the rack just reflectors?
Yes, Dr. Patterson. Those are reflectors. I had the same concern and then did this. th-cam.com/video/jPhb83jm1KM/w-d-xo.html -Tom
Have you ever been pulled over due to obstruction of the license plate?
Good question, Nel. The answer is no. I think most LEO's know that if you are hauling bikes, it's a temporary thing. I did do this for safety because I think LEO's do worry about that. th-cam.com/video/jPhb83jm1KM/w-d-xo.html Thanks, Tom
