Nobody can make fun of Doctor Who the way Whovians can. As we've mentioned under previous videos, one of the guys who went on to be showrunner for six seasons, and even wrote a story multiple Classic Doctors have named as their favorite of the whole show, got his start with the franchise writing a spoof which poked fun at many of the tropes and foibles of the series. And that parody is commonly well-regarded among other fans!
Oh, it is amazing. But some of these are true as well. NuWho is not light hearted exactly. It can be intense at times but the humor part of it is equally great too. Actually, NuWho is more cinematic and has serious arcs. Plus, there are so many great storylines.
I could get in trouble for this, but I'd say NuWho is more....accessible? Meaning it was designed to appeal to a wider audience, hence the humor, hints of romance, ever improving special effects, etc.
Dr Who is supposed to be a hyper-intelligent alien, why would he be romantically drawn to what fir him is an orangutan... Dr Who was sexless for this very reason.. it remain contemporary without binding itself to current events. Past events, yes, but current events come with current narrative and political agenda and doesn't date well.
The great thing about this show, and you can see it through the diverse clips you watch, is that you never know what u will get... new who is DEFINATELY NOT goofy... I, my wife and kids all cried many times (especially the first 4 or 5 seasons).. sometimes it can be quirky, sometimes very serious, sometimes it can be genuinly scary... sometimes a massive battle adventure..and many times.. heart breaking... when u have a show that can go anywhere and anytime, it has few boundaries (even the budget had periods of heavy spending) ... yes there are many historical stories and yes many are British (it is after all a British show, similarly watching American shows like supernatural are set primarily in the states) but he's visited other places too... met presidents, Romans, cowboys, Chinese etc...
I haven't watched Dr. Who in years; my Sister used to be a big fan of the show. I swear that THIS was the BEST summary of this show that I've ever seen.... and funny as hell on top of it. 😂😂😂😂😂
Three things I enjoy in this video: doctor who, honest trailers, and your reactions. The biggest difference between the original and revival is that they were mostly half an hour, told in stories that were serialized anywhere from 2 to 12 episodes with cliffhangers being resolved between each episode and even stories with only two told in one which even by the 80s was considered old fashioned, and very few times did seasons have a recurring story. Despite how cheap it often looked, how silly the stories were due to what was available or how hastily written they were, or relying more on exposition due to the visuals not being too impressive, the fact it lasted 26 years is a testament to its popularity and success. Even the modern show has similar issues every so often, but its part of the appeal and no matter what doctor who is a show about change that adapts to the modern day. Even if many aren’t fans of the current era, and I can understand some of those problems, one can’t deny that the people involved not only love the show but want to push it further and aren’t afraid to tackle some big risks.
This was well-done. There's a misconception that the show is a comedy. In fact, it's considered a family drama and that's the category for which it's won multiple awards. The David Tennant era made me cry repeatedly. There are funny moments and episodes that are more funny than not, but I would not classify any season as a comedy. I do think the Matt Smith era is written to be funnier, but it's a different type of humor than in the RTD era. Sillier, I think. More childish.
I would say the new who is more fast paced, more action and more romance, but even classic who evolves over its 26 seasons,at the start it is more like a play and it's more about timepiece than monster of the week
NuWho is a condition of demonising returns due to a constant decrease in quality and structure of the overall story and adherence to canon,a shame because it started so well, built up to Matt Smiths incarnation and then suddenly nose dived into the atrocious stories and bastardised canon they've created in the last two seasons. Something THEY feel justified in abandoning, but most of the Dr Who fans see as a betrayal of the entire show.
