I did purchase this Bible and all though it does have flaws, I still love it because the layout was exactly what I was looking for. These are the perfect wide margins to write in! Also the paper is so amazing to write on with no show through.

I like brutally honest reviews! 😄 So we know what it's really like before we buy - if we still want to go ahead and plonk our money down. Enjoy your reviews very much - the music, camera work, lighting, sense of humor, honesty - keep up the good work 👍🤗

All I can say is, I guess I got a good copy, because I love mine. Yes, it has a few issues but nothing that would drive me to return it. Do I think it's overpriced at $125? Yeah. I think a fair price for something like this would be about $80. The binding on mine is fine. It does have print inconsistency but it's not too bad. The pages stop sticking together after about 3 days of use, so it doesn't bother me anymore. The gilding is fine. I don't understand why people don't like the page cockling in the middle. I have school textbooks that are decades old that have had that issue and it's fine. They haven't fallen apart and I don't think this Bible will fall apart because of that.
There have been people saying that there's glue coming from the head and tail bands, and I will agree that that would be an issue. And the verse numbers being off-register on some of the verses is an issue, I agree with that too. But on mine, it's honestly not that bad. I think this was a case of this is the first time that they have used this particular printer in India, and unfortunately this Bible was the test case. Whatever mistakes the printer made will hopefully be corrected in future print runs. Personally I don't see this as a premium Bible and I don't think anyone should see this as a premium Bible. It's a mid-range Bible, like so many of Nelson's Bibles are. Although as the last point, I would agree with you that they don't really need the 39 gsm paper. The Bible is very heavy and unwieldy, so the extra paper weight just adds to that.
I would also agree that people looking for this should just go for the leathersoft. It's a wonderful Bible that is wonderful to read from. So getting one of the cheaper options could allow someone to experience that without feeling they paid too much for a lemon. The inconsistencies people have noted will hopefully be fixed in the future.

Sorry but I just dont see the same things as you. What a fantastic bible! I am buying 5 copies for myself in leathersoft too for a rebind. IMO a worthy replacement of Nelson 475 wide margin and an instant classic.

Did you by chance check out the standard version of the sovereign? I’m wondering which is better. I think the paper is better on this edition. Also, Thomas Nelson does do revisions to their Bibles and I have seen people say their copies don’t have the same errors. My assumption, is they fix most of them.

How many years is the shelf life of a Genuine Leather Bible? I know it depends on how we take care of it but...approximately how many years would it last before it begins to deteriorate?

    • @crucified4me
      @crucified4me  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi there and thank you so much for watching and commenting. Yes, it depends largely on how you use it but I believe it also depends on the quality of the leather. Not all genuine leather is the same. This one, for instance, is completely different from the Open Bible, by Thomas Nelson, in brown genuine leather or the VBV Center Column Classic Reference in grey genuine leather by the same publisher! I have them both here at the house and they are simply different, a bit more stiff, but seem much more resistant. And all these are super different from my old (2014) black genuine leather Holman LPUT. So I don't know if I have a good answer for you. In my hands, even though I use the Bible a lot, since I'm normally careful, they last years and years. Even if they start deteriorating a bit, the leather normally should hold up well and even get a nice used look (I personally love it). Other features of the Bible will fall apart before the cover does, normally, like the paper, stitching, glued parts, etc... My 2014 Holman is a Bible that I still use on occasion and I would use it everyday with no concerns. It does look pretty used, and I had a minor problem with the binding near the end of maps area which I solved in a very amateur way with some glue 👀 But I still love it 😊 I hope this helps ☝

Actually, a question for you - did the red seriously degrade in the NT for you? The entire OT of my copy is gorgeous, but for the most part it becomes seriously inconsistent in the NT. There’s still some of the blood red, but it’s mostly bright red or even pink in some places. And the red letter itself looks good in places, but for the most part is light red or pink. Trying to figure out if I should exchange it or just return it and try something else.

Why…Why…I have to say those words as well. Verse numbers are actually running into the text, in the book of Romans Chpt 6, And In the book of Joshua Chapters 12, 14, & 15… I honestly quit looking after that. Can you please see if yours is like that. Mine is one on the printings from the first batch. The print is somewhat lighter than all of my other Comfort Print Bibles, and inconsistent. Glue was seeping out a tiny bit in a few spots. I know it’s Smyth sewn, but pretty sure ( in my opinion, compared to all of their other great Bibles), this one is not going to last. I haven’t written in mine either. I heard that the leather soft had problems too, but not as bad as the leather version. I’m holding out, to see how Thomas Nelson handles this. I am PRAYING FOR THIS LAYOUT TO BE DONE IN A PREMIUM VERSION! If nothing else, I’ll return this one, get the leather soft and have it rebound if needed. If anyone knows if the leathersoft verse numbers are running into the text, can you please let me know, and leave me a comment? Thank you so much for your honest review. And letting me rant. Lol. ( P.S. The paper cockling is the worst I’ve ever seen.). I really do love and appreciate you Thomas Nelson! ❤️🙏🏻🥁

Hi, thank you so much for watching and for your comment! Unfortunately, I already returned this Bible and was not able to check concerning the verse numbers running into the text. I believe I heard Randy Brown say something similar in his review so I'm sure you're not the only one. His review was mainly positive and I feel bad for not giving a more positive review of this Bible since my level of expertise is nothing compared to his, however, I needed to be honest and I really didn't like the feel of the Bible. There are things I like, of course, but the positives don't really outweigh the negatives for me so... Yep 😕 And yes, I found the print to be as you are describing. I'm considering buying a leather-soft version of this Bible. If I do I'll let you know what I find 😉 I love Thomas Nelson too... Kinda heartbroken here 😩
      Blessings to you 🤗✝🙏🏽

Really too bad. I love the design and layout. Amazing looking bible all around. But I probably should have listened to you & gone with the leathersoft. The print non-uniformity is terrible, esp with the red letter fading out. The black just gets extremely bold in parts which I can deal with.
I think it’s bc they moved to India and haven’t worked things out. At least their genuine leather is nice, I think it feels great.

I now know what church you are from SDA (Seventh Day Adventist). I was trying to respond to another comment but I’m not allowed to comment there on another video. You believe that evil people won’t exist after receiving punishment for a while but after the second death they wont exist. You also believe Jesus is Michael the Archangel. The SDA church says that Jesus, as Michael the Archangel in the Old Testament, was not a created being as orthodox theology states of Michael the Archangel. Instead, the SDA church interprets the appearance of Michael the Archangel as the pre-incarnate Christ. This is problematic and against the Bible. Why is there the Clear Word Bible? It violates the biblical text by severely altering it in many places as it restates Scripture in line with SDA bias.
The SDA doctrines of annihilationism, soul sleep, Jesus being Michael the Archangel, seventh-day Sabbath worship, etc., all govern how the biblical text is to be understood instead of letting the biblical text guide the paraphrase.
In the Bible it says in Isaiah 66:24 ESV
24 “And they shall go out and look on the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all flesh.”
In the Clear Word Bible (SDA) it says:
“They will see the dead bodies of those who have rebelled against me lying outside the city. But just as worms don’t stop until they devour the dead and fire doesn’t stop until it destroys, so the fire of the Lord will destroy and consume the wicked.”
The meaning of the text is changed to say the opposite of the original: from the fire not stopping to the fire will stop.
    The Bible says:
46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matthew 25:46 ESV
    The Clear Word Bible says:
I have no choice but to end your lives, because in my kingdom everyone cares about everyone else.’
This verse is so severely altered that it bears very little resemblance to the original.
    In the Bible it says:
30 So the people rested on the seventh day. Exodus 16:30 (ESV)
    The Clear Word Bible says:
So the people rested and worshiped the Lord on the seventh day as they were told to do
Notice how worship, which hints at church practices on their Saturday Sabbath, is added to their Bible. This is quite an addition.

I am a Seventh-day Adventist. The Clear Word is a paraphrase of the Bible and I personally don't use it. I have never seen this paraphrase be pushed or even advertised in 18 years of ministry.
Concerning Michael the Archangel, please don't ignore the witness of the Scriptures. I explain it on minute 04:09 of this video 👉 th-cam.com/video/3zPoDP7NWEI/w-d-xo.html
Yes, I do believe the Seventh-day Sabbath is the day that God wants humanity to rest and I recorded a video with my Bible convictions recently 👉 th-cam.com/video/2ya3lW4ZiTY/w-d-xo.html
I do believe that the soul is mortal as both the Old and New Testaments teach (Ezekiel 18:4, 20; Matthew 10:28), and that the dead know nothing and are not in a conscious state (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10; John 11:11-14; Acts 2:29, 34), but await the resurrection of the dead (John 5:28, 29).
I am very comfortable with what I believe. I find no better options out there to explain all this biblical evidence. I hope you take some time to look at it seriously.
