    on "Man on fire" the HS8 destroys the HS7. Lower mids and bass response seems vastly superior without losing any upper mids and high end accuracy

    The HS8 are my favorite speakers on this channel. The HS8 have near perfect bass extension control and impact with great transient response and just enough flair in the treble. The HS7 is near identical in the mids and vocals and has a much splashier treble. Some May prefer that in the HS7 but the 8 is much more my cup of tea.

    HS8 if you dont want a sub but if you can combine the HS7 with HS8S sub you get the best of both the world that is perfect accurate mids with deep low down controlled bass. Standalone HS8 will sound better but I found it very hard to tame the bass when combined with HS8S so I went with the HS7.

      Are the 8s that much different to the 7s? I'm stuck dunno which one to get. I'm mainly getting them for my 88 key Roland fp-60 piano so a lot of piano will be played on them. The 8s are just so frickin big.. otherwise I would get them. I was thinking if the 7s feel bass lacking, then I could always pair them up with a JBL or Yamaha sub?

    I am very curious from an engineering standpoint about why the HS7 has that high-mid nasal tone compared to the HS8. The HS8 comes across flatter. I know anyone with the HS7's would simply be able to figure out the emphasized bandwidth and EQ it down, but it's almost like it's been put there to incentivize getting HS8's. Not trying to be negative. Just surprised they don't sound more alike only with the HS8 extending lower than the 7. The tweeters are the same, the woofers are the same material, and the cabinets are the same except for dimensions....right?

    • @KyronVance
      @KyronVance 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a mid bump due to port resonance. There seems to be less of that in the HS8. maybe This is a design error or intention.

    • @KyronVance
      @KyronVance 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      IMO, From a music production perspective, we should be talking about what the monitors can produce rather than the measurement science or listening experience of HIFI audiophiles.
      -Beyond the engineering perspective, I think They try to provide speakers that have a more useful balance in the mix, even if their speakers don't give a better first hearing experience than other modern speakers. They don't focus on frequency linearity. If you've studied speaker measurement, you know that speakers are not judged simply by their frequency response, and Also humans don't hear things linearly.

    • @KyronVance
      @KyronVance 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      And in my experience, HS8s are for big rooms, please. If you have a small room, get some HS5s or 7s and some good headphones. Playing with those sub-frequencies gives the perception of a flatter, more controlled nasal tone. But it's false. You'll hear a mess of booming and dip in the bass, not accurate full range monitoring. Oh sure, it sounds great to listen to.

    • @michaelrice6620
      @michaelrice6620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your room is not acoustically treated go with a smaller monitor. Honestly the less bass the better. I would say go hs5’s out of the ones you choosen. Play with the knobs in the back in decreasing the highs or lows if you think it’s to much. Don’t turn the bass up on the monitors though, if anything turn the bass all the way down and mix like that then when your happy turn the bass back up to normal and finish the mix.
      Obviously my opinion is if your mixing music though, if your just using it to listen to music get whichever it really doesn’t matter they all sound good.

    Definitely Yamaha hs7 vs hs8 comparison is very exciting. My opinion is that Yamaha hs7 as studio monitors is very good if you work with a small room even without special treatment with acoustic panels of the room. I'm a yamaha hs7 owner and as such I can say that they are definitely quite flat sounding speakers. I sometimes use the speakers for movies and they definitely don't perform well there. Because the volume must be too loud to shake the room. That's why I added presonus tremblor T10. So the system is complete and with one touch I can change whether it is only the speakers or together with the subwoofer. The speakers definitely don't sound as impressive on record as they do live.

    HS8 wins for me in the test here, both monitors rock nevertheless. HS8 seems probably on the top of the food chain within a price bracket leaving Kali Audio LP8 II / JBL308 / Adam T8V / Presonus Eris 8 close behind in the 2way 8inch camp. Great time these days, as technology gets cheaper, so the "pro-sumer" priced products offer a lot for the user enabling him to achieve professional results for fraction of the price of the gear compared 3 decades ago, (interfaces, Ad/Da, monitoring in particular)- not to mention the quality / performance of the products of today.

    IMO, Yamaha hs 7 - the middle frequencies sound narrower, like through a tube, while with the yamaha hs 8 the middles have a wider, more open stage; otherwise, at high frequencies it sounds the same. The low frequencies are obviously won by the hs8, having a 20 cm speaker. It is clear that the hs8 is the winner, both in the midrange and in the bass.

      @@vietht is this due to poor mix & mastering or do these speakers just not favour that specific genre?

    HS7 は、低域不足‼ HS8 は、まあまあですが、それでも低域不足。
    ウーファーは、最低12インチ必要。1度聴くと、分かります。
