Linear fluorescent lamp falling down in Pompidou, Paris

I went to the Centre Pompidou in Paris and was astonished by this art - on the wall there was projection of fluorescent lamps falling down of the ceiling. You can hear the sound when lamp is smashed and you see the space getting out of light. Amazing! I can't remember the author, if you know her, please put down in comment.

Only problem is when you take a tube out, and the light is still on, the ballast starts bussing louder in certain types, I’m still creeped out by this lol

I believe the way the guy did it is he made custom wax tube holders and the tubes get warm very gradually, some get hotter faster than others and so they don't fall out all at the same time

These fixtures should be replaced by either LED lights or fluorescent fixtures with covers, because then they can't fall down and break that easily.

The same thing happened in my warehouse! I had a lot of those fluorescent lamps (OSRAM, PHILIPS, SYLVANIA and more), and the decorative lamps too. I went inside to fix the EOL lamps, and then, they started falling one by one! Even the blacklight UV lamps! And what I can't understand, my fluorescent lamps, which were on the wall, all of them have gone off the carcass, too! How it can be??
I have never seen anything like that kind of art in Pompidou! And yeah, that room gets filled by the mercury vapours everytime the fluorescent lights will fall out of the ceiling!

Reminds me of the time my buddy shot a slingshot at a stack of fluorescent tubes outside a store. ALL of them went BOOM!! We took off like scared rabbits.
Can't remember if that was the same day he shot a bottle rocket across the street and it went into a store. People ran out screaming. Again we took off like scared rabbits. And don't forget lobbing a smoke bomb into a ladie's flower bed. Purple smoke all over her white Gardenias. Ouch.

The holders in the ends of the tube, which hold it it, gets warm by usage, it melts gradually and finally it won't be able to hold the tubes weight and fall down

no, they're 5 feet long with a smaller diameter than T12, but larger than T5s, they are very common in household fixtures nowadays

It's definitely the sound of a T8 fluorescent tube that's shattered. I remember once at work I was replacing a burnt out tube in the dough prep room. And I almost broke the replacement tube cause I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings enough. It made the same sound as those tubes did before they shattered. Lucky for me I didn't break the replacement tube for one light fittings in the prep room

Nah. Large diameter 8 footers or 96 inchers are anywhere from T10 to T17 type fluorescents.

@@Warp3326 No, the holder in which the tube is held and powered is plastic, these tubes are run for many hours. the ends of the tube get really hot, which melt, hence, it falls down
