    I enjoyed your story of the wheat cent. I had no idea. But I believe your right. It was an inspection to me. I will never look at the penny the same way again. Thanks to you. Gene from Santa Fe new mexico.

    A short saying. See a penny pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck.
    I have wondered about why the wheat sheaves are on the LWC and your study and answer really makes a lot of sense.

    I’ve watched three of your videos. And I like how you give a history lesson a long with the coins. I’m happy to support your channel ,keep ‘em coming bro… I’m 38 and 4-5 years into collecting and nobody I know in my small town collects so the only thing I can do is buy books and watch videos here and there a lot of misinformation on Facebook and other platforms…. Appreciate ya.

Awesome theory of the reason for the wheats (which I feel makes complete sense and was something I often wondered myself!" You have yourself a new subscriber!

    I always pick up any coins on the ground and few years back I picked up a Indian head penny with the 1800’s year and this was around 1994 I remembered calling a coin collector in the yellow pages that’s correct yellow pages! and the person at the other line of the phone told me its only worth $20.00. I gave it to my Aunt for safe keeping( I regret giving it to my Aunt)

    • @thehistoryofmoney2464
      @thehistoryofmoney2464  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yaaasss! Wow the yellow pages takes me back. Thanks for sharing; IMHO the story alone is worth more than just having the Wild Indian without any context!

      Hello and welcome! Congrats on your find! I recommend visiting the CoinFacts page on the PCGS website for descriptions of each individual coin/year/mintmark combo. 1913 has a similar story, and the ones minted in SF are the rarest. Happy hunting!

    I enjoy your comments, but it is really a cent not a penny. The late Arthur Romerhaus of Evansville, Indiana had dealt in coins since 1914, and he would bristle when we said penny. He told us that it was a cent, not a penny like Great Britain and Australia. He lived to be 96, and his knowledge was encyclopedic.

    • @thehistoryofmoney2464
      @thehistoryofmoney2464  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jerry. I really wrestled with this one as I was making the video; cent versus penny. What I ultimately decided is that one cent is the denomination, and Penny is the colloquial name. Do you have a similar problem with calling a five cent piece a nickel? Even usmint.gov refers to it as a penny. I think that I’ll talk about this issue when I cover the mercury dime, because in my opinion, there are three units in American coinage: the dime, the dollar, and the Eagle. Maybe the cent is the fourth? Stay tuned, and thanks again.
