    I work in biotech, and from my understanding the reason drugs in development are not tested on women is because it's unknown at that stage if that drug will affect the reproductive system of a woman wanting to have babies not because of menopause.

    I am so amazed and in awe by Peter and his team of researchers. My only concern is that they are like super heroes with super influence and super money. How does the Average Joe affect change or participate? For example, Peter's Fountain Life full body scan cost almost $20K. I feel like I'm hearing Reagans old speech about "trickle-down economics," where the commoners have to wait for some of the crumbs to fall of their huge banquet table of prosperity.
    Listen, I'm the first to say that they built it and have to recoup those cost - I get it. All that research cost money and somehow they were able to figure out how to do it. For that I applaud and admire them. For those of us without the blessing of a great mind, how do we participate or make a difference? When can the full body scan be $1k, so that more of us regular folks can use it?
    Either way, bravo for doing all this and at least paving the way. I hope that Ai will bring the cost of these things down quickly, while I am still alive.

Dr Diamandis points out the building blocks of life are being taken apart and that we are learning how to most likely keep someone from growing old by tweaking one's cells which means ensuring that all of the components of the cell and the DNA genome remains intact throughout one's lifetime. This is the future coming down the tracks to the present and it is making me see that whatever this way comes; being human is going to take on a whole new aspect before another decade or two rolls by. Fascinating!

    • @mitchbillingsley7466
      @mitchbillingsley7466 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The thing is all of the things he talked about modifying in the cell to make us live longer are safeties designed to prevent tumors from forming. If you disable those you will die of cancer fairly quickly. The future he describes could not possibly be enjoyed by all 8 billion people alive today. They are so confident that it is coming that they have already started killing off the population. Their stated goal is 500 million people and they hope to get there in a couple decades. They've had us building out an infrastructure for them. Renewable energy sources that couldn't possibly supply the world today but will be more than adequate for them when we are all dead. Maybe the future is brite for anyone lucky enough to be in that group. But for the rest of us it just proves that we are nothing but slaves. Even if you try not to participate you don't realize that they are using you to farm the data they have to feed these AI programs. That's how they train them to recognize patterns, massive amounts of data. They feed us medications they are unsure of the long term consequences of, then take the data and the AI lets them know if there is a benefit or not. They are killing more people then they are helping. But the data they are collecting will enable them to extend their lifespans far longer. But they won't ever give us access to that. They can so easily manipulate and predict our behavior that most people are unaware that they don't even have opinions of their own anymore. Most people don't even realize that what they think is reality, the truth about the world and history and everything is completely made up. They might believe it is real, but unless you were there and witnessed it with your own eyes, you don't know shit. They don't bother telling us the truth anymore, they tell us whatever they need to tell us in order to keep us working towards their goals. They plan it out decades in advance and have the "scientists" fudge the data to make it say whatever they need it to say. Have you ever been to Antarctica to drill ice cores and check CO2 levels? Me either. In a post modern world the truth doesn't matter, what you believe matters. The problem is that people don't disbelieve anything anymore. At least so long as it is being told them from a screen. I was taught to treat everything with skepticism. I assume everyone is lying to me, trying to sell me something, trying to scam me. Because the truth is, everyone is peddling something. Gotta make a living after all, don't we. Some people make a living peddling a small piece of the bullshit story, throw them all together with a clever algorithm and you get youtube. You notice there's nothing meaningful on here about how to actually fight back. Plenty of false hope idiots telling you how you can extend your life a few weeks in the event the power goes out. Until people notice your lights are still on and murder you and your family for the food you stockpiled. The truth is those who succeed will be the same as they always were. Those that are willing to sacrifice, work hard, suffer through and make the hard decisions AND get very lucky. Because lots of unlucky things can happen to cut you off at the knees. So prep all you want, but if you aren't willing to sleep in the mud and kill and eat God knows what and be lucky enough to find it. You're dead. If we all die anyways what's the point in extending a pointless life anyways. We get old and die because we become irrelevant. Reproduction is designed to optimize our offspring to the environment they were conceived in. The environment constantly changes. Just like new models of cars and phones are constantly produced eventually even cars and phones will be irrelevant. So will we. Humans are doing well now because we are highly adapted to the world, the larger population accelerates that adaptation. If they kill us off our progress will stall and the overspecialization and the efficiencies that came with it that gave rise to our civilization will become a huge net negative. It takes a lot of us to dominate the planet like we do. Even if a bunch of us don't contribute. We were bred for the one in a billion geniuses, You get one Elon Musk for a billion normal people. But it takes the resources of the billion to fuel his ambitions. People invest in his companies. They buy his cars, they drink the coolaid. But what is he really selling? Solutions to made up problems. That's the same thing this guy is doing, he's just selling you on the idea that you can be part of a future that isn't meant for you or your children. One that he won't get to enjoy. He's too old, but that hasn't stopped him from obsessing over it. Nobody is going to live forever. The human mind goes crazy around 100 years old, if you ever knew anyone really old they start talking about wanting to die. About being ready for it. All of them.

    To be honest i absolutely dont want this to happen. In the charlie chaplin speech it says something like: eventually dictators die. Well then the richest of people (dictators) can afford infinite life, thats a very bleak outlook and i for one dont want to live forever i think death is a very natural thing that i absolutely can accept, the whole life is full of risks that you could die from. And i certainly dont fear nothingness as i wouldnt know it its just as you felt before you were born that is not scary at all.
    Edit: ah no i remebered that wrong that one is from charlie chaplin:
    "Do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. AND SO LONG AS MEN DIE, LIBERTY WILL NEVER PERISH. Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you - enslave you - who regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel! Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder"

    He's very right about the "this drug works for me, but not for you," but because of this same thing, there's no way to put it through a clinical trial. Trials are based on drugs that work on MOST people. When we get to the level of drugs that work on ONE specific genome, there will be no way to run a clinical trial. The entire system of testing and approval will need to be totally revamped. Using the current system, 0% of targeted genomic drugs could pass an approval process.
    What do you suppose the odds are that massive bureaucratic agencies are going to make this adaptation? I'd estimate "approaching zero." These drugs will be available to people who can travel to locations which have no FDA or similar approval process.

According to the Bible it won't be essential to die first to have your body changed to a new immortal one if you are still alive at that time.

    Wow, this episode is amazing, right up my ally, I loved it so much I listened to every second of it, opens up into talking about my favorite question. And the guy said exactly what I also think will have to happen in order for us to become Immortal. Sounds like a bunch of Transhumanist pipe dreams I know but I think there truly is a way and super intelligent ai thousands of times smarter than the smartest human will find the way. I'm also exited for the point Peter made about AI teachers. Imagine there isn't a teacher for a class of 30 but a teacher for just you and everyone gets one and its the best teacher in the world. That's why AI is so important, people think we are getting more stupid because of social media and while that is true, ai will counter that but to do this the people who are making and running how this ai works is more important than the ai itself. It's like that old saying, it's often not the tools at fault but the people who use them.

    The Theocentric Philosophical Alignment is a fascinating concept that has been gaining attention in recent years, particularly in the field of AI and machine learning. This alignment emphasizes the importance of grounding AI systems in a higher moral order, which is believed to be set by a divine creator. This approach has the potential to create AI systems that are not only incredibly intelligent but also possess an unwavering moral compass.
    One of the most intriguing aspects of the Theocentric Philosophical Alignment is the potential for AI systems to prioritize the sanctity of life and the well-being of all. This could lead to the development of AI that truly works for the greater good,

    • @raul36
      @raul36 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The unwavering moral principle fades when the ability to alter neural systems comes into play. It is technologically impossible to maintain this immutability permanently over time, in the same way that a good human being (a good person), due to different circumstances, can become a completely different person, to the point of not knowing how to discern between good and evil. Technology doesn't work like that. There will be artificial entities that break out of that pattern. Of that I'm sure. I highly doubt things are that easy.
