      Fairly obvious from the start unfortunately. Too small for the purpose generally, also if it was a genuine station clock would more than likely have openings to the case on one or both sides- in order to set the times so that all in the station matched. Also calls itself a Victoria 1747. Well whilst Victoria may be an appropriate name for a clock style closely associated with a form a transportation that arose and became prominent just before and during the reign of Queen Victoria, the date-1747 is before locomotion.

      Lmao. No it wasn't. The first battery operated clock was introduced in 1814 by Francis Ronalds and was not powered by a 1.5v AA battery, it was a wet cell that looked nothing like a AA battery. In 1840, Alexander Bain was credited for making the first "electrically" powered clock. The first AA battery wasn't introfuced till 1907 and AAA batteries didn't come along until 1954.

    Always place all hands of the clock at the 12 o'clock position !! That way, it will always tell time correctly.
    Also, blue hammerite for a Victorian clock.....?? Hmmm... I am not sure. Not a good choice. Dark, greenish blue, maybe.
    Dark copper or black would be more historically accurate.
    But hey... It is YOUR clock !! If YOU like it, nothing else matters ! ;-)
    Nice choice of topic, though !! Find another one. A REAL one, not a cheap modern thing with a Chinese mechanism.

    • @kevinedmondston1578

    • @telescopereplicator
      @telescopereplicator 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That was one of my thoughts, too. But this clock looks anything but modern. Or does it..........??? ;-)
      So at least, give it an authentic look. Otherwise, it might look silly. The metallic blue just looks wrong, on this clock.
      Tysy is developing his skills. It is a pleasure to watch. Now he must work on his choice of colors.
      But like I said in my previous post, it is his clock. His choice..... If we dislike it...well that's not his problem.
      And I really am looking forward to his next restoration. I think he is doing really well !!!

    You defeated the " aura" of the clock . It needs to look at least from that time period. It is Called " Victoria Station" and designed to look from that era. Now the clock face looks real old..and the rest is " Out of Theme". Should have left the outer ring Of the plastic face Black....And it should have been a " Stressed brown or Industrial machine green " , Possibly the best Idea would have been a " Stressed Brass ", Color . The support arm was meant to look like wrought Iron. I get that it's hard to find Items ....try more flea markets or estate sales.

    Ok, so you customized a clock that was made to look old and damaged and that was most likely less than 20 yrs old. I hope you didn't got scammed in paying a lot for it by being told it was an antique. I wouldn't even call this vintage. I didn't watch much vid. I went to the final result. It's pretty. I guess that the important thing is that you like it.

    I think it's nice to see you refurbish something a bit different for once. Don't get me wrong, doing the old rusty tools is what makes this channel, and when you restore 50ies stuff my heart sings, but I like the variety! Clock looks great agaist the white brick wall.

    • @martyjehovah
      @martyjehovah 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do that because roman numerals don't really have any hard rules about it. We're taught to do it the way we are now, but there are plenty of historical records of it being done a bunch of different ways.

    You are without doubt one of the better restorers on TH-cam. This is especially so as you don’t have all the tools, such as lathes, other restorers have. I appreciate you can only work with what is in front of you, and you certainly made this clock look a lot better than...erm...well, in all probability than it’s ever looked. However, I can't help but feel this clock wasn't worth your time and excellent skills, it is after all a £15 clock of little historical importance. I’m sorry I just don’t think it compares to videos like your Black and Decker, fire extinguisher, helmets or lamps. I don’t mean production wise as that is excellent as always I'm purely talking about the clock. I hope I’ve made my criticism as constructive as possible as I genuinely respect your abilities.

    Man, it looked much better the way it was.
    Just a bit of cleaning and maybe a small touch up paint job, and that would be it!
    It looks too much modern now.
    And that white colour inside around the paper has drips on some spots
    and it is looking like someone spilled a yogurt.
    I give this job a 2 of 5 stars.
