      It's definitely on my bucket list to do another visit there and enjoy a ride in the gondola and walk around the narrow streets there and maybe also get lost there again like I did on my first visit there years ago. I had a wonderful day there in Venice but the end of the day was terrible when I saw the news in the evening, I was there on the 9.11 (11.09.2001)

      My husband and I are going the first time next month and we can’t wait!! We are most excited to see Doge Palace and the bookstore that’s “under water”. We are leaving on Thanksgiving and will be in Europe for a month. 17 of those days will be in Italy! Thanks for the video and mentioning the tour. Will check it out! Safe travels to you!

    This brought back some lovely memories! There were many favorite things about Venice that I experienced but I think having fun getting lost over and over and discovering so many little hidden gems was my favorite. I only stayed two days but I'm so grateful I got to experience this amazing place.

    One thing I learnt from visiting Venice is if visiting during a period of the monthly spring tides, the ones around the equinoxes are higher, be prepared to get wet feet, although tides in the Med/Adriatic are measured in inches, spring tides can be a couple of feet or more causing flooding in many streets and squares. Only to get worse with rising sea levels. Cheap flights in Europe are a bonus for travel throughout, few places are more than a two hour flight unless going from one edge to the other but I prefer the trains, more scenic and greener.
    The Venetian traders brought the silks and spices overland as more reliable than sea travel back then, using the silk and spice roads as the routes became known.

    I went to Venice back in 2009 or 2010 and it was very magical and special. Unfortunately I lost my bag of all the souvenirs I bought from there (and Florence) so I'd like to go back one day and replace them!

      “Venice became part of Italy only very recently, in 1966. Since 697C.E., in fact, Venice was a free and independent Republic for 1.100 years. This makes the Venetian Republic the longest-lasting form of Government in the world, ever.”

    • @WAYAWAYWithAsh

      No Offense taken but what is it about Venice you wouldn't like? You ONLY like being in the country?

      @@WAYAWAYWithAsh 1. excuse me for using ur platform to tell my opinion 2. I’d rather sit far from traffic in a meadow , listening to the birds or myself & or friends than sitting in a cafe or restaurant or sleeping in a Hotel or walking through surrounded by hundreds of strange people ❤️ but I respect u . Some folks like New York , I think it’s a sewage bowl .

    • @marineforces3214
      @marineforces3214 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I give all another example , yes it may be obvious if u are just an American tourist that u think Paris , Venice , London may be great , to me they are just f’ed up cities , I rather get into my car & go for example to the “ mosel River , sit in the vineyard hills watch the river from above & have a bottle of local vine , or go somewhere in Italy to the landscape called toscana , or to France to Camargue , or a nice surf spot like Hossegor , or Portugal or famous Andalusia in Spain watch Flamenco music drink sometimes Vine & watch horses . Marocco (North Africa ) & Gibraltar is not far from there

      @@marineforces3214 Oh I'm sorry. My comment was not an unkind one. I'm sad it came across that way. I was just curious.
      I appreciate you sharing with me your opinion. I like difference of opinion although I think we are not so different as I love also all the lovely things you described about the country...including traffic in a meadow.:)

    • @marineforces3214
      @marineforces3214 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WAYAWAYWithAsh no problem , I forgot to mention : there are cafés in very tiny villages all over too , but it maybe the possibility that u & ur friends sitting there all by urself . I do not know what u mean with traffic in or on a meadow , usually there is no car traffic except birds & maybe some insects ❤️❤️❤️ anyway I agree cities have their advantages, but only if I really want or need to be there ❤️ and speaking about cities u may check out Avignon in south France or Hossegor if u prefer the beach & little surfing . Avignon has also great history and is a city still in the middle of medieval walls , & Hossegor is touristically not that highly modern overcrowded , it still has this romantic kind of hippy flair if u start to know it better . ❤️ peace & out
