    I'm currently doing a swap like this. Beware the front carrier bearing will need to be relocated further away from the engine. The yoke comes in contact in the factory position. You may want to get that situated before you get shafts made up. I appreciate you posting this series! There seems to be very little shared information on these swaps. Keep up the great work!

      Yep. Plan is going to be to shift the carrier lower and move the yoke slightly forward or back in the driveline just a tad.

    Hey! Tires look great! They are going to look awesome when you get everything all together. Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep us informed with the videos. Love your project! I think anyone that is working on this type project should be watching all your videos. I mean, you don't have all the fancy shop equipment and added expense of having someone do it for you and you're still accomplishing a great custom swap. Way to go bud! Keep it up!

    Been waiting for this one! Tires look great. I'm going with those same tires with the Cepek wheels with stock offset.

    The reason AM General (Not GM) used the yokes they did is because remember the portal hubs effectively halve the amount of torque that the driveline has to produce. They're more than adequate for the job on a lightweight 'vee. Also the reason they're different is because the front driveshaft has a 27.5 degree offset key.

      Nice catch. Must have been trying to edit too fast and missed that one. Definitely AM General not GM on the Humvees. I try to catch those things while editing but that one slipped by. And that's also what I was thinking on the portal hubs.

      @@tossthewrench Are you sticking with the stock gearing in the diffs with those 40's? I think you have either 2.56 or 2.73's in your diffs (probably the latter). If you're running 40's I'd look at re-gearing to 3.08's :)

      I might consider some gearing changes later on after running it around with the stock gears for a while. The engine and trans tuning was done for the stock gears and 40s right now.

    It’s Am General that made the HMMWV’s, not GM.

    Are you going with the Blue Hummer spindle locks? They are nice

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been looking at different ones. Those are some nice ones. I like them but whoa they are a little $$$. Might be worth it tho if they lock better than the others.

      @@tossthewrench yes, I have them on my Humvee, since the blue hummer store is no longer open, you can get them from Mod Mofia

      Yeah I saw modmofia's listing for them. Bookmarked it for later.

    Would a 1480 yoke for the rear output transfer case fit in that application, ?

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest issue with the yoke out of the back of the tcase is the overall knuckle diameter. It can rub on the fuel tank. I got the smallest ujoint ended yoke that worked for the tcase.

      @@tossthewrench did you get a 1310, or 1350?

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have to find my file for the driveshaft to be sure but I believe we went with a 1410/1350 u joint at the tcase and just the factory humvee size at the diff in the rear. I wanted to find a yoke that would fit the tcase and be a 1350 u joint but couldn't find any or anyone that could make one.

    ...because it runs double the speed; 1.9xx to be exact. So it is double as strong, whatever joint you put into. Due to he portals.
    Same goes for the UNIMOGs - which have relative weak axles compared what we have similar in Germany from Merc, as well or MAN etc.
