I didn't like Macross Delta... But I immediately fell in love with the VF-31 Siegfried when I saw it, especially the S variant. It is quite simply a beautiful warmachine.
A recently released promo video from Bandai showed that the DX Chogokin line is finally getting a new stand with the VF-1J release. It looks at least slightly more elegant and at least semi-articulated. While I'm at it, are people excited for the VF-1J in general? Cautiously optimistic? Or don't give a crap because Yamato and high-end 1/48 VF-1s were already a thing? Just curious.
DX 31 is a great toy. Beyond that, a lot of it depends on which design you enjoy the most as we are lucky to have a lot of great Macross toys these days.
Is the the price of this model going to come down any? The messer model is much closer to msrp. Is this model special? Its got the nicest colors i think. Thanks!
Barring a reissue, no, the price won't come down. The price shot way up after Bandai announced they were making the armor accessory (my review of that accessory will be posting this upcoming Sunday)
Great review! Always enjoy them. I just got mine a few weeks ago and haven't had time to open it yet. Now I'm waiting for my YF-19 DX Chogokin. Btw, where did you get the spinning turn table base?
I definitely do NOT recommend my spinning table base. It's awful, it wobbles and the reflective top is a cheap reflective sticker that came scuffed up. If you find a good one, let me know as I'd definitely upgrade. DX YF-19 review is daunting... so many accessories.
ScorchedEarthToys Can't wait for that review. Yes, it's daunting indeed! But I know you'll do a bang up job. Will you also compare it to the VF-19 Advance? Also, I will look into other spinning display bases and let you know how they turn out. Thanks.
Well, the VF designs are probably one of the best things out of Delta. Anyhow, any comment about the new armored pack design from the movie? Looks too fat lol.
The standard version of these - the VF-31A - have low-visibility paint schemes like you'd expect out of a military fighter. These ones are the Delta Flight versions, which are more colorful because they're supposed to look less "military".

Great review as always, waiting for your yf-19 chogokin review now
I actually have the scale model that I built, I bought it assuming it was the chogokin version. building was fun.
I saw 1/60 VF-1 Angel Birds there! I wanna review and more photos! Cause it's really rare
Noted!

What are your current fav chogokins for Macross? Im new so figuring out the best figures to buy is a bit daunting.

@@ScorchedEarthToys ah, i see, bummer. Perhaps the armor may fit on the prior models. Thanks for the upcoming review.
Great review. What´s the scale in this VF?
Bandai doesn't mention it but measuring it and comparing it against the published 'real world' stats comes up with 1/60 scale.

New Valkyries look like damn race cars not military machines.
These ones are supposed to have "air show" paint schemes.

I just can't get past how awkward the wings look in gerwalk and battroid mode.
