I really fucking hate the fact that these things cost upwards of $200 to $400 and that you HAVE to order it overseas thanks to Harmony fucking Gold having a goddamn monopoly of Robotech license here in the US - so much so that ANYTHING remotely even Robotech (Macross) related can't be done here locally without going through them. I can't believe in the 33 years I've been into robots, & 21 of those years I been an adult collector, the closest thing to a macross figure I ever bought was a 1985 Jetfire. I've liked Robotech since I was a kid so the concept is not new to me. I have a few questions; Where's the best place to buy the larger Bandai 1/60 scale Macross figures? Especially when you wanna get Alto's jet, and the main cast, and how much is this figure? Do you think the hi-metal R VF-1A is a good starting point? I grew up around the same time as you so hard transformations are not really an issue. Thanks!
TheBesiegeEngineer for real. But it kinda makes sense that it would be difficult for them. The vast majority of their figures are ground vehicles, meaning it doesn't matter how the bottom looks. The airplanes aren't quite the same since they're often seen from the bottom too. They just don't have practice in this sorta thing
TheBesiegeEngineer Whoever makes these toys have been making almost the exact same design over and over and over to work out all the flaws. Hasbro has literally thousands of different designs to incorporate into their toys. Besides, especially with the toylines they have now, the robot mode tends to look nothing like the vehicle mode making it much harder to make a flawless design
John Jack okay, fair point. but i just feel like some alt modes, especially jets, and modes in the RID line, just don't have enough work put into them. hasbro's toys now just feel like pre-production toys, like unfinished products.
Quiet Storm the original Macross is pretty great anime but the animation is a little dated but macross frontier is amazing first couple of episodes (first 3 to be exact)are kinda meh though, and before you watch macross frontier watcg macross zero as theres a reason why

If only Silverbolt could get a jet mode that looked half as good as that, rather than a jet with a folded up robot underneath.
