    First class storytelling as always Josh. You’ve got a new “Into-history” supporter. (I’ve been rereading The Frontiersman by Allan W Eckert, circa 1967, it’s about my 5th reading, and it’s a pleasure to take a break now and again and let you do the storytelling!) Btw, I’m an old Jarhead (60) who has a degree in early US History from the the currently second-ranked (football team that is) in the country. lol. I’ve had a couple (very minor) articles published in our state’ archaeological quarterly-The Ohio Archaeologist. I only mention that not out of any kind of boastfulness but just so you’ll know I have more than a passing-interest in history. I’m passionate about it. I want to congratulate you on your decision to “go full time” with what’s obviously YOUR passion too. There are about a ga-jillion history channels out there in the ether-world and I subscribe to or at least follow about half a ga-jillion of them. Your channel is among my top ten favorites. Best wishes to you and yours and Godspeed in your endeavors to make this passion your profession. I’m betting on you. OK. Off to find your into-history site and send a little money your way. Thanks for your work. I look forward to it like a little kid looks forward to Santa coming. Semper Fi and keep your powder dry. ❤️🫡🤘🏼

    Said it before but you are my favorite story teller on TH-cam. I love history but my knowledge on these subjects are basic so I have enjoyed learning about them. And the mixed in humor is hilarious. I listen to Donut Operator, Salty Cracker and Mr Ballen to name a few and it is my opinion that you should also have millions of viewers and I bet you will as well. You are definitely as entertaining in your story telling realm as they are in theirs and in my opinion even a little better.

    In the old days before TV, Radio and the myriad of was we have today to keep us entertained, story telling was a part of our everyday experience. Be it listening or telling of a tale, often people became vary good at it. This, I'm thinking, has all been lost to the ages save for a handful of people gifted in the art.
    Take a moment and think of Samuel Clemens sitting on a veranda after supper with friends, a good tobacco smoke, a half glass of room temperature 8 year old whiskey telling a story. There's a person who could hold captive an audience from young to old. It is this art of telling the tale and not just providing facts which distinguishes the truly talented story tellers.
    It pleases me to see this art-form survives. "Credit should be given where credit is due" and I for one, tip my hat to the young narrator here. Apologizing now for wanting to get my thoughts written before getting the details and name. Our narrator in all the series seems to be consistent and well applies his skills to what would otherwise be random bits of trivia & historical fact. He's got me riveted and focused, bring to me excitement not from what was done but by the method and how it was delivered. I'm now 73 and my interest in things in general wains.
    Dear Sir (narrator), You bring life to a place where I thought the fire was out and rekindle something once ablaze. WTG . I am only one, but I have an opinion from what I've listened to, you are as gifted as the author Mark Twain.
    BRAVO !!!

    The browns hole references might not be as simple as you think... there is a place just south of Moab, Ut, called Browns Hole as well, which is known colloquially to have been a hideout for Butch et al. Some fo the references you've read mentioning Browns Hole might be referring to that spot.

    • @WildWestExtravaganza
      @WildWestExtravaganza  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. The Browns Hole where Tracy was at the time was definitely Browns Park, it's where his companion killed that kid not far from the Jarvie trading post.

      Yea, I think one might actually be browns park one might be browns hole but then some folks started using them interchangeably. Who knows. Keep up the great work, your Soapy Smith video was awesome, hands down the best one I've seen. Legends of the Old West did a great video on him, but not only did your video have a lot more information, your tone and style matched the subject matter perfectly. That channel is kinda Ken Barnsish and while thats great, I think that especially for old west stuff and especially for Soapy Smith, your style to me feels like a (very well researched) barroom or campfire storyteller is so much more on point and enjoyable. @@WildWestExtravaganza

    He was welcome in the hole in the wall every outlaw was and he probably at least knew Butch Cassidy but Butch Cassidy did not want to ride with him because he felt like they would all have hanging posters because he was gun crazy. I had a book and although that book said Tracy new Cassidy he never was a member of the wild bunch. That book also said he would occasionally bang Cassidy valuable information for which he was sometimes paid a little bit out of the robberies. I don't know if it's true that's just what the book I had said.

  • @danielwebster5748
    @danielwebster5748 ปีที่แล้ว

    With the exception of Harvey Logan who was a true gunfighter Harry Tracy might be the second most dangerous man in the wild bunch that's why Butch didn't take Harry Tracy and sometimes Harvey Logan because he said they were too quick to pull their guns and use them. Butch Cassidy is never known to have killed anyone and since that shoot out in Bolivia I believe was two other men then he probably never killed anyone for his entire life all the way up until he really died which was probably in the 1930 along with sundance Elsa Leigh which is Butch Cassidy's best friend that surprises a lot of people they thought Sundance was his best. He went to prison which is how he survived and he said in the twenties he saw Sundance and Butch Cassidy multiple times. He claims he even went into a mining partnership with Sundance kid and he did go into a mining partnership with somebody with an alias.

    Harry Tracy forced countless people to give him a meal. Two different partners he got rid of because he said they were too timid to force a meal. Almost every day he forced two mules and it didn't matter if the husband was there or not. Sometimes he would help the people that he forced to mail out of one time a man went up on his roof with a couple of other people he needed to fix the roof and Harry Tracy went up there with them to help them. But most of the time he just forced the meal and rode off. When I was looking at an article on Harry Tracy a while back he done more meal forcing than anything else. Usually he would have the housewife of fixing a bag of food as well. If he had money he paid if he didn't he did not.

    Butch Cassidy was one of the few intelligent outlaws and he planned and planned and planned again for every possible outcome. And he said he did not want to ride with Harry Tracy due to his gun crazy attitude. For the same reason he did not ride with Harvey Logan in a lot of his jobs because Hardy Logan had a hair trigger temper and would kill on the slightest provocation. Harvey Logan is now ranked as one of the top gunfighters of all time and one of the few that was not from Texas.
