Strong whistle under load from turbo, also whistles when I lift off the throttle too but only under 2k RPM. No lack of performance so far, just had turbo replaced for brand new OEM borgwarner unit. No whistle at idle; Engine is 2.0 tdi CR170 CBBB Do you have ideas what this could be?
I have a 2.0 TDI cabriolet on 2009, I'm getting a loud whistle from the turbo, power is hesitant at low revs but once it builds up it boosts fine. No engine codes. Checked inlet wheel on turbo and no play whatsoever. Small signs of oil nothing major. Can't find any boost leaks so far but these two intercooler pipes in this video feel quite weak and spongy on mine...could these be the problem?
Does having this loose tmake the car sound really really loud even with the engine at idle ? Like a diesel engine at very very very high volume? Pls tell me it's this
@AlexTheGrumpyOne not really a "noise" but the engine at a higher "volume" ,the way the motor sounds is actually "clean" af ,this is just something that went loose and now the engine is super loud ,even without reving . I thougjt that It has to be something like what u are desscribing just because It really males sense but i'll go and check rn as I have a better idea of what to look for . Thx for your time mate
I've changed glow plugs aswell as turbo hose still in limp mode.. Eml light wont go off also glow plug light flashing? Any advice or help would really appreciate it pal
When this fails, does it make it sound like the exhaust is blowing too? When I was driving, there was a bang and whoosh of air - then limp mode. I didn't notice and smoke but the power isn't there anymore (1.9 tdi 57reg). Thank you
Old video so sorry for comment, i have split in my hose so thats how i found ypur video on replacement.. i also have large amount of oil on the outside of the hose? Seal gone ypu think or tab broken causing it to seep out? No lights on dash ?
Hi i drive the same model car i have shudder when accelerating i can say it does not come from suspension....please help from your follower... Lincoln Adams from cape town south africa
I think I have the same Issue mate engine management light is on lack of performance car won't rev over 4000 , so jacked up the car looked at the turbo hose pipe on the left bottom of passenger side and used silicone tape for a temporary fix just to see if it is the turbo hose that's leaking or blown somewhere or the seals are worn ...silicone tape worked for a few days as car was driving fine and went back to normal again car was literally rapid and driving quick turbo picking up quick as usual and engine light went off...but after few days it's gone back into limp mode ...so I'm guessing it's definitely the turbo hose pipe? But I need to get it up on a ramp instead of jacking it up at home I know it's an easy fix as I can do it myself but rather have it up at a ramp at some mechanics workshop..mines a Audi A3 2.0 tdi 2011 just to clarify is this a common fault?
Changed glow plugs and turbo hose pipe still eml light on and lack of performance been told by the AA its the turbo actuator overall literally get the whole turbo replaced... As this is what the AA man advised me whilst he done the diagnostic check... He also said turbo actuator part and labour costs are about £220 rather have a new turbo fitted? But my turbo is solid and still going strong.. Shall I take the AA advice and have the turbo replaced?
Hi, mate changed the boost hose pipe the L shaped one still in limp mode eml light on no change any advice? I've got full AA cover to have them do the diagnostics to have it checked out... But also the car aint blowing black smoke from anywhere.. One thing I am for sure is the turbo is solid on my A3 2.0 tdi
@@AnIdiotAboard_I’ve got similar issues, but getting P0299 underboost. Had smoke tests and everything and turbo seems ok. Sometimes an oil change will fix it. Any ideas?
HELP PLEASE!! So my Audi A3 2.0 TDI Started going into limp mode. Sounds like it has a leak but diagnostics showing EGR valve. Cleaned that and it was caked in carbon. Garage said it’s probably DPF (£1700) But it sounds like a pipe split on accelerating. Loss of power noticeable before any limp mode and it was jerking a bit on acceleration before limp mode. EML was intermittent but now is permanently on. I don’t know where to start. If anyone can help and it sorts the problem I’ll buy you so many beers. The car starts fine but has now started spitting out light grey smoke but this is only on occasions. Limp mode is getting worse now. The car has 115k miles. Glow plugs never replaced. DPF has shown 2/3 times but that’s only been recent. But the air sound seems to have got worse. I’m going to get a rental now cos the damage I must be doing isn’t good. PLEASE HELP WHERE TO START. Thank you
Hi there. Have you got access to a smoke tester? Because that's the best tool to use to find if you have got any leaks in the intake system to isolate that
I got a p0101 fault vox bank 1, reset it car drive ok. Next day same fault, pops up reset it. The driving eml came on, and glow plug, car in limp home. Reset after 5 mins did it again. This time threw P0401 egr insufficient flow P2279 intake air leak P2456 dpf pressure malfunction Mechanic looked turbo inlet pipe had come off, at the screws, front towards front of engine. Put it back And rescrewed it tightly reset the lights, drives fine now. All that because this pipe had come loose

Have you had smoke test done on it?
did you ever resolve that issue?

I would check egr and air flow in that case. It might be getting a bit stuck

That unfortunately depends on the noise. And if it is completely came off then it can make a louder noise. But your issues sounds more involved

legend tbh my turbo hose is starting to make gushes of air again should I change it now or wait for the lights to come on
I would avoid getting to the light stage haja
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne would it be worth investing into metal turbo hoses
I personally would bother to be honest

Hi there. It's a similar noise. Depends on how big the hole/cut is.

Yeah unfortunately it's common for them to have oil in there. Leaks through the turbo and etc.

Hello bud. Well done for trying the tape. That usually helps for a while.
Yes, it's definitely a common issue on them unfortunately.

P0234 Overboost
Clean turbo charger and inspect, and IT IS the turbo

Why is there Oil in an intake pipe?
It usually gets a bit of oil in there though the turbo and etc
Turbo seals leaking (may be old issue) and the oil sits in the intercooler, also the pcv can dump oily mist from crankcase into compressor inlet

Yep that can cause it cause it messes up the air that it measured in one place comparing to the other 😀 well done
