Thank you sir. This was very informative. At my age a scope is a must. I'll surely look into this. A side note on these peasant guns. My dad bought my brother a M44 back in the mid 60's for $9.00 at the local hardware store. He still has it.🙀
I installed the J-Meck mount on my 1943 Izzy M91-30 four years ago and the mount is holding solid. It has not lost zero and I have carried it in all kinds of weather. I hunt deer with mine here in Pa and have taken several doe and one nice buck. My hunting buddies were a bit skeptical at first but a few trips to the range for annual sighting in and just plain plinking on the weekends has calmed them down. They always expect me to show at deer camp with it every year. Great mount, just follow the installation instructions, it took me about an hour to install mine, but I took my time. Used locktite on all the cap screws. I have a picture of my 91-30 on J-Meck's website along with the first doe I shot with it.
Thanks for the question. JMeck is an awesome mount for a no-drill or tap mount that is very solid. If you are not worried about drilling the receiver, an ATI is an affordable and quality option. I have not used Rock Solid but have heard great things about them. I think you will be fine with whatever you choose but for the cost, the ATI drill/tap is hard to beat. I just like the JMeck so much and have waited so long for it to get here.
Enjoyed the tutorial. Very straightforward and easy to follow. Just a thought, but you should probably credit the music you use in your videos. It's only fair for the artist(s).
Thanks for watching. The band that recorded this song is no longer together but they did this song especially for our show. Good point though, I will do that in the future.I agree it is only fair for the artists.
a friend has one and I just can't like it. yes its rock solid but I don't like how high it is over the bore. I can only get a chin weld. I give it a 10 for ease of installation and no drilling. for now, I will continue to use what IMO is the best option, which is the Accu-Shot mount which attaches to the dovetail under the rear sight base. I like a scout scope anyway and this combo provides a excellent cheek weld. you did a great video by the way!
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment and experience. I have three other Mosins that have the scout scope set up so I am a fan of those as well! Thanks again for the feedback.
Dustin Warncke I find target acquisition is much faster with a scout scope. especially on a running deer. what do you think? I also put a Finn sear and trigger slack spring by C&R Surplus in my sporter build and achieved a 3.75 LB trigger. I have a video demo of my trigger improvement if you'd like to see it. also some bluing and wood working vids. I like your vids, I subbed you. I'm not looking for subs either, I just like sharing stuff that I know works! :-)
It should since you are only sanding a portion of the stock, not in-letting or bedding the whole stock to the barrel. I see no disadvantage to doing that at all. Thanks for watching!
If you have a matching number stock, I would get a different stock for this application and then if you want to sell the gun, you can put the original stock back on.
Thanks for watching my friend! The companies website is still up and you can email him through it from what I can tell. Check out: www.jmeckscopemounts.com/ Please let me know if you are still having issues and I will see if I can get you in touch with him directly. Thanks again for the comment and for checking out my videos!
Hey Dustin! Thanks for the reply especially on such an old video! I decided to go with the low profile see thru mount accompanied with the z plate so I can keep my straight bolt. Lastly I decided to put the Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 Rifle scope DBK-04-BDC w/ Vortex Medium Rings. Hope it works out (:
Great video, Can the rail be reversed so that the scope doesn't cover the bolt? So the scope actually goes forward more. I'm trying to keep upgrade costs to a minimum and don't want to buy a bent bolt.
I don't see why not. If you are planning to do a scout mount style, forward of the receiver, I would recommend a S&K, Rock Solid, or other scout scope style mount which will save you having to fit the band to the receiver and sand the stock. Great question!
thanks for the reply, but I'm leaning more to the jmeck mount. The mounts that use the forward holes of the stock rear sight, then have the set screws that tighten against the sight spring become loose after 20 or so rounds.
Indeed. The best rear-sight replacement scope mounts aren't like the cheap NcStar Chinese ones. They are notorious for stripping out and coming loose. I think you will do well with the JMeck. Any decisions yet?
Do you know if it is necessary to inlet the ATI stocks? I have one on the way and I really want to put a scope on my Mosin. This sounds like the perfect option.
Thanks for watching buddy! This mount is still holding strong many year and hundreds of rounds later. Really a solid option for this rifle series! Thanks again for tuning in and I hope you check out my Mosin hunting videos.
Hi dustin, thanks for video.I've heard this mount gets losened after shooting, when the receiver gets hot and you have to tighten it every time,is that wright? thank you
zurikela vashalomidze Thanks for watching the video. I am grateful you tuned in. I have not had that experience with it nor have I heard people having those kind of issues with it. Overall, it is a solid product that doesn't need constant adjustment in my experience. Thanks for the question and I am here if you have any others!
Matt Urioste Thank you so much for watching and subscribing to my channel. This particular gun was not refinished by me and came to me like that, supposedly from the factory. I have refinished a few Mosins and I like a Red Oak or Red Mahogany stain followed up with some Tru-Oil Stock Finish from Birchwood-Casey, which you can find just about anywhere guns or accessories are sold in big box retail world. The finish goes on glossy so you can use some 0000 steel wool to take down the gloss if that is what you want to accomplish. Thanks again for watching and feel free to check out my other work at www.dustinsprojects.com!
Yes, just a little though. Same as wood, just use a dremmel tool and it will carve out the material needed for the scope mount band to seat correctly. Great idea!
Dustin , I have a jmeck see thru mount and I love it . My issue is I can't get the horizontal cross hair to adjust down far enough , I have it adjusted all the way down and the rifle still shoots about 2 inches high at 50 yards . The vertical is perfect , what do you think I should do ? Try a more expensive scope maybe , thanks
Great instructional video. Thank you for this. I'm thinking about the Jmeck mount for my M44. Wondering if the high-profile mount would work with a straight bolt. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Yes, you would need a bent bolt for the high profile mount in my understanding. The mount is not high enough for a straight bolt to clear it. The bent bolt I purchased was from eBay and was a great value for its quality. Thanks again for watching!
I have a question about the low profile mount since you obviously have it, can you fit a 40mm scope at all? I know you said that the high profile mount would be better for this but I'm more looking into a good cheek weld to the stock and a mid size objective (40mm). I'm just asking because I want the scope as low as possible but I don't want to be limited to 32mm objective lens. Or do I just have to find the lowest profile scope rings available?
I am not 100% sure but I am under the impression that you might have to modify it in the inside of the stock to make room for the band and for the gun to sit even with the barrel in the stock. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching. It SHOULD, although I've not personally tried it. You will need to inlet the Archangel stock but from what I've seen it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks again!
+BeastGaming I think so. I would e-mail JMECK to make sure though. Since it was originally a Russian Mosin that was captured by the Finns, I think it should. Thanks for watching!
Yes. You can get the See-Thru or High Profile Mount or the standard Low Profile Mount. The See-Thru version allows you to use it with iron sights. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for watching.I highly recommend Max Shepherd Bolt Products. He is a specialist on Mosin bent bolts. www.maxshepherdboltproducts.com is his website and I love working with this guy. His work is top notch!
Thanks for watching and for your comment. Have you tried: jmeckscopemounts.com/ ? That sight comes up for me. Jeff is usually easy to get a hold of there too. Let me know if I can help! Thanks again!
I just got myself a very nice 1948 Carbine, I was thinking of putting a muelleroptics.com/mt451440 on the rifle, will this scope work with the low mount mount? I know I need a different bolt, which I plan on getting already, any advice would be awesome.
Great question. My understanding is that since that is a 40mm scope you will want to go with the higher profile mount. If you elect for a 30mm bell, you would want to go with the low-profile mount. I am getting a high profile mount for a friend of a friend's gun and just got the bent bolt back from maxshepherdboltproducts , com. Fantastic work if you are getting bent bolt work done by the way. I plan to shoot a video on that company soon.
I actually got lucky, a friend from work I told I was getting a Nagant and he had a Monte Carlo stock, A bolt which luckily already had a ATI low drop bolt attached to it! SO SCORE, and a Magazine assembly/case unit, no trigger set though, and a ammo box or something, double small pouch belt thing, all for 20 bucks. So, serious score. I was also looking at the advanced rifle parts mount, im not 100% how well it works though, that mount seems fine, the one you used, but idk if I will like the high mount. I will probably end up buying a 2nd Nagant to put the stock, scope, bolt on. My current one is a barely used, I cant see myself butchering such a nice rarely used gem.
Jeremy Vonk I would agree with you. Keep the next to new one in original shape and mod out another specimen. The ATI bolt kit is fine but something you can even use on your next to new Mosin is a JMeck scope mount. You don't have to modify anything but the stock and I like the mount better than the ATI in my opinion. In this video you watched, I did the low profile mount but I just finished installing a high profile mount. Thanks again for watching my videos!
If you are looking for a regular target scope, I would recommend Optics Planet as they are a great online store with lots of quality optics, rings, etc. at good prices. JMeck mounts can be purchased from his website.

Everyone talks like drilling and tapping is like picking fly shit out of pepper with boxing gloves on. It’s not that hard!
Dustin Warncke oh, sorry. I didn't realize the song was made for the show.
I think I’m going to make my own and sell them. This is the third one I’ve watched and they are all hokey AF!
Cana box lll do a video on it!
I want to buy one. ive been to the jmecs site and CANT GET A REPLY. IS HE STILL MAKING THESE?
a friend has one and I just can't like it. yes its rock solid but I don't like how high it is over the bore. I can only get a chin weld. Where did you get the scope mount for the Mosin. I have one and want to mount a scope to it
JMeck (Jeff) has a waiting list you can get on. There are some other NDT mounts out there but this one is hard to beat for the money
After the dremel sanding, and you decide to remove the scope, because you sanded the stock, will the barrel fit tight again?
It should since you are only sanding a portion of the stock, not in-letting or bedding the whole stock to the barrel. I see no disadvantage to doing that at all. Thanks for watching!
If you have a matching number stock, I would get a different stock for this application and then if you want to sell the gun, you can put the original stock back on.
Fine video indeed,..although I must be looking in all the wrong places,..can't seem to find this mount anywhere,..any suggestions Mate?

Hey Dustin! I’m interested in this mount! Is there a 3.5x scope that fits to this mount that you would recommend?
Like a PU Sniper original style scope?
Hey Dustin! Thanks for the reply especially on such an old video! I decided to go with the low profile see thru mount accompanied with the z plate so I can keep my straight bolt. well done!! Certainly an option. I may have to buy another Mosin and give this a try!!
Thanks for watching buddy! This mount is still holding strong many year and hundreds of rounds later. Really a solid option for this rifle series! Thanks again for tuning in and I hope you check out my Mosin hunting videos.
Very good knowledge, thanks
Hi dustin, thanks for video.I've heard this mount gets losened after shooting, when the receiver gets hot and you have to tighten it every time,is that wright? thank you

Great video presentation I was wondering what stain and or lacquer did you use one your rifle
Matt Urioste Thank you so much for watching and subscribing to my channel. This particular gun was not refinished by me and came to me like that, supposedly from the factory. hey Dustin, will this Jmeck drop into a Archangel 91/30 stock without modification or is there still some moddy required?
I am not 100% sure but I am under the impression that you might have to modify it in the inside of the stock to make room for the band and for the gun to sit even with the barrel in the stock. Thanks for watching!
The Archangel stock needs some extra dremeling with JMeck.
Please tell me where I could find this mount, I have looked everywhere
jmeckscopemounts.com/ and let Jeff know I sent you. Thanks for watching!
What's up..will this work on a archangel stock....
Thanks for watching. It SHOULD, although I've not personally tried it. You will need to inlet the Archangel stock but from what I've seen it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks again!
Hello I am French so I have a little trouble understanding everything can you give me a link or have his equipment for modifications thank you
What kind of scope rings do I need if I go with just removing rear sight and mounting scope?
Penny 4life if memory serves, a good set of medium rings should be fine. On the inexpensive side I use UTG/Leapers hardware. Thanks for watching!
Hey would this fit my M27 1931 Finnish Mosin?
+BeastGaming I think so. I would e-mail JMECK to make sure though. Since it was originally a Russian Mosin that was captured by the Finns, I think it should. Thanks for watching!
can you use the iron sights with this mount?
Yes. You can get the See-Thru or High Profile Mount or the standard Low Profile Mount. The See-Thru version allows you to use it with iron sights. Thanks for watching!

I have been sanding the crap out of my rifle, and it just won't sit flush. feelsbadman
How did it turn out? Did you get it to fit flush?
Nope. Ended up selling all my milsurps. Not my problem anymore.
Use lipstick to find out where to remove material.
Where can I buy the items, including the scope for the mosin-nagant M91/30?
If you are looking for a regular target scope, I would recommend Optics Planet as they are a great online store with lots of quality optics, rings, etc. at good prices. JMeck mounts can be purchased from his website.
nice nice job ;)
TheAntokiller thank you so much!
;)
Aluminium is about 3 times weaker than steel lol i would go for the steel mount. From a mechanical engineers point of view
i didn't know the word "Mosin" had a Z in it
mosin collect what 15 million of them ..Christ are you fucked up and drone on and on and on
That scope mount is a piece of crap.
