**Thank You** for these recordings. I remember seeing the Skaneateles Shortline many times as a child in the late sixties and seventies, even downtown on Fennell Street. I watched Dad for many hours as he created a splendidly detailed HO scale layout of the short line in its steam years, hand making the locomotives, rolling stock and buildings. I recognized the station in the film as one he modeled. 14:04 As a kid, I took a nasty spill on my bike when my front wheel got caught between the track and pavement downtown near the stone mill. Then I remember as they started pulling up the rail, coming into Skaneateles from Mottville. Maybe someday I will model this myself: GE 44-tonners are dear to my heart. 😊💜😊💜😊
My uncle lived in Galton by the bridge by the dam and worked on the WAG and then when they tor it up. Got to see 👀 the center cabs in the shop and yard many years ago. 😢
Absolutely wonderful video! These RRs were slightly out of our area, but I remember Niagara Junction and their electrics along the main road into Niagara Falls. I can hear that RS-1 turbo whistling!
I like this one quite a bit. I model an industrial siding in HO, a shelf layout, and this film gives me great ideas for detailing and scenicking. Thanks!
The last of the Ford GE's, WAG #1700, is at the Lake Shore Railway Museum, NorthEast PA. Really spiffed up, like most of their exhibits. Worthwhile visit, right next to 2 busy main lines,
Skaneateles, in all these decades this is the first time I've ever heard someone say it. Best I could come up with way back when was something like 'Skaneetles'
The Model Railroad club is the CNY model railroad and historical society. Skan had the 44 ton GE and it’s still operating in the same pint to this day as LBR 1946?
I have a short book on the W.A.G. but I never expected to ever see actual footage of the railroad. I wonder what percentage of tractive effort is lost when the rails are well-lubricated with slippery plant matter.
That's funny about the slow motion brakeman. 😆 Wonder what he would do for the reverse angle replay? (did they even do that on sports in the 70s, I don't remember)
Holy Crap bro...get a life..... this guy is showing us railroad gold that might be the only to exist in the amout he has and you post about how his mispronounced a town??.... wow

Can we take a moment to appreciate how GORGEOUS this film stock is?
100% It's stunning and alive!
It sparks the imagination in a way that 4k doesn't.

This was thoroughly fantastic. Thank you so much. What great footage. I could watch it again and again. And will!
Keep these wonderful films coming... What treasures you have!

I watched the first minute before doing a big thumbs up.
Very excited to see the Ford diesels!

Nice. There's a GE still running a short connecting line here in Detroit.
Thanks Guy for sharing these historic pictures with us. I think the saturation of the colors in the filmstock is really bringing the scenes to life.
Not much video of the WAG out there but this is by far, the best footage ive ever seen of it. Nothing comes close to it. Cheers Rob
Thank you for sharing your great footage! This is my favorite period of American railroads.

This is the first WAG videos I've seen. The center cabs are very cool! Thank you GW!
Welcome!
Those center cars were delivered to Ford.
Were really sexy with chromed handrails, cab windows even on front grilles.
Google GE Ford locomotive
Nice! Skaneateles Shortline action. Thank you for posting this.
Amazing scenes, lovely color.
Beautiful areas to film! Like a real life model train layout.
Great production
Love center cabs, diesel and electric. Another great video.
It's really nice to see old movies of the small railroads. Thank you.

Lovin' all your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Glad you like them!

Great video !
Lots of grass, brush growing on some of those tracks! Must be rarely used
Curious if you know what film stock this was shot on. I live in this region, and this is exactly what the hills look like in summer.
My dad used 16 mm Kodachrome film
Sure glad we replaced grass-covered tracks and electric locomotives with asphalt and diesel trucks.
If my memory is fine WAG Funits were banned missing footboards....
Thanks so much...
You're welcome!
Coudersport is pronounced cowders-port, not cooters-port.
