I find those dyno gains incredibly hard to believe from just a snorkel. If the inlet size to the stock airbox is unmodified it doesn't matter how big the pipe is from that point.
Without other adjustments just a snorkel hooked up to the stock air intake wont improve performance. When your driving there is no measurable temperature difference between the air under the wheel well or around the a pillar, that's just whishfull thinking. Plus you are adding more length for the air to travel and extra bends, so yes just a snorkel hooked to the stock box does not improve power it will probably cost you. 4x4's also dont travel fast enough for any ram air effect, you cant push more air in then already sucked in by the turbo in case of a turbo diesel. There are better ways to modify your intake and increase fording depth then adding a snorkel unless you are a real diehard overlander or in a job that requires regularly crossing rivers that deep you need a snorkel. That is offcourse without taking into account the coolfactor of a snorkel
The vehicles are always brought up to operating temperature for use on the dyno. You may not be able to see the dyno fan in the video but every vehicle is always dyno tested with our variable speed dyno fan. The bonnet is closed for all testing to replicate real-world driving.
