Greatest source of info on cuniculture and aquaponics on you-tube. Do you have a problem with sterility during dry season ? Why don't you all stack your cages to maximize on space ? As far as content i would like to see ; butchering not the dispatch but skinning, cleaning, packaging for the freezer. (Ah two recipe could pass too) Thanks alot for the content, people from all over the world tuning in to learn from 2 guys in TRINIDAD . Allyuh making us proud keep it up

Yes, in the last few years we experienced some sterility, so we are taking measures this year to keep those guys cool. The processing video is on the cards, stay tuned. We have some content on cooking rabbit planned so the recipes are coming.

I’m a huge fan of this channel. You guys are really informative. Have u guys done any videos of bringing in a proven buck or doe from outside your rabbitry? How long do u wait to bring them into your rabbitry? Do those new rabbits have to be quarantined?
Hey Scott. Yes, all rabbits coming into your rabbitry must be quarantined for a minimum 2 weeks. We will touch on this more in our next video, stay tuned.

Don't forget for production that's why we chose the Rex rabbits for meat and fur we will be selecting back our largest kits from our largest bucks and doze in order to replenish our herd with larger and larger Rex we hope to achieve 15lb Rex which will also increase the hide size mean while keeping the highest-quality Furs for our garment business that we will open

Good evening,nice video and very informative. You mentions about the litters being more than 8 which you keep plus you will keep a few of the litter to either replace, but if i have a rabbit that only drop 6 everytime I line her lets say 3 times I should get rid of her? Correct? Can this be due to the buck lack of performance why am only getting 6 litter everytime? Your advise, thanks
A litter of six isn't bad if she's weaning all. It could be the buck, doe or both. Your records will help you summarize. You also have to look at the buck's performance with other does. It might just be the doe's top tier. If she not weaning all then in my rabbitry she would go.

Sorry but we don't have a video on that. Why would you want to keep so many bucks anyway, if they're not intended for breeders?
@@seansrabbitry Want to prepare them for meat market and my problem is not having enough space to avoid them fighting, especially the bucks.. I prepare them for market between 90 to 100 days and they started fighting over 2months what should I do to avoid this please?
Only thing I can say is don't mix litters. You have less instances of fighting if thry grow together. Also, it's usually one bully that starts everything. If you can identify him and remove him from the cage you'll have less fighting overall
Hello Sean, i am an avid follower of your channel and find your videos very informative. I intend to start up a rabbitry. I reside in Benin (west african) My major challenge here is getting the right breed to start off with. The only pure breeds that are readily available here are the Flemish Giant and Harlequin. I know very little about those breeds. Do you think they are goods breeds to start off with ?
They aren't the best rabbits for meat production, but it can work. You can cross-breed them and create hybrid production does and go from there. In due course you can try to import some stock.

What's the best breed to use for meat production?
Normally I would say NWZ and Cali.
But with the latest soaring temps I would suggest you look into the Tamuks and Tamuk Composites

Hey Roy, happy to hear from you. We do export breeding stock as long as your country will receive animals from Trinidad & Tobago. trinidad is tropical country.. which breed is good for keeping ?? european breeds may not survive.
The NZW and Cali do ok. But look into the new Tamuk breed that was created in Texas for higher heat tolerance.

I wouldn't recommend it. That type of Inbreeding should only be done under very special circumstances.

When breeding a doe, must it be with a buck that's bigger(weightier not smaller than her?
Size isn't that important if the buck has the drive

Those the temperature in the Caribbean get so cold that an expose kit can be killed by it? If no is the answer than a doe that dose not pull fur and urinates on her kits may have learned from her experience as a kit that been under fur is not the preferred environment for her litter in these condition and the reason the doe urinate on her kits is to keep them cool. If the above statement has any validity would this doe offspring be the preferred traits to keep?? The above statement is a question and I am looking forward to a response.
The temps here do drop low enough to kill exposed kits. A doe that doesn't build a good nest isn't the best mother. Also rabbits are habitual, if they urinate in the box it's probably because the box is resting on the spot where they usually urinate.

The A.I. kits are sold on Amazon and Ebay. That's where we bought it.
The semen extender that we use is unique, I don't know of any other company that makes it.

I do not breed anything closer than three generations I think that line breeding which is just a fancy name for inbreeding is wrong I breed three generations apart minimum which means if there's anything the same within three generations parents grandparents great-grandparents they don't get bread together
