In fact, the whole OVA is like that. That's what made it great.

And this can be call more stereotypical because the way the action is done here has roots in 60 years of tradition. Japanese action is really like this, it takes a moment of calm, then explode and ends very fast. That's why the tried to do something different with the live action movie because the action director had a lot of experience in action movies from Hong Kong.

I tried to look for something similiar, but fights in this ova (this one and first with tomoe boyfriend) made so quick and deadly that it looks like real fights. Even that jumping on roof killer. Camera work, shifting between speachless characters, dropped sword, animated blood covering her umbrella. Well, I believe i there will be no more something comparable. Some Kenshin vibes was in House of Five Leaves, but its more about decoration, not fights. There is almost no fights at all.

The versions that I watched years ago always had a different translation “Remarkably you made it rain, a rain of blood” honestly not sure which one is more accurate but that’s part of what makes anime cool for some. Interpret the exact meaning of the words how you will.
Imagine the adrenaline from both sides; the Oniwabanshu assassin's anxiety because of not being able to sneakily one shot Kenshin, which was known as an extremely dangerous and skillful assassin and that of Kenshin for recognizing a brutal and merciless assassin standing in front of him in a little dark alley where only one will come out alive.

I had really hoped to see this tragic-starcrossed-romance arc acted out in a grounded/realistic style in live action, but as soon as I saw the first Rurouni Kenshin live-action, I knew it was never gonna be. But fine, nothing is going to replace this OVA.
