Paulie B is the master of allowing the photographers' monologue.
This is what folks tried with podcasts for years & it never popped. People want to see the photographer, how they work & their photos. Great work!
This is the best photography channel, all these other channels try and sell you gear.
and it's not even close
It really is. Theres some joke here about leicas tho for sure..
This is top 3 but grainydays is the goat.
Paulie B for sure---but *BIG UPS* and RIP to the Negative Feedback channel. George Muncey is creatively gifted, the videos are never boring and so well composed, it's incredible. I miss that channel. Never sells you shit (minus squarespace), if anything, George encourages photographers to travel and start projects vs buy new gear.
These two channels are best; everyone else are bricks.
comment of the year
Great episode. Sara has some amazing photos and probably going to be one the those photographers that lives forever through her work.
I felt my heart open during this video. Thank you Sara for being so vulnerable and loving during this
Her innocence is her super power. Thanks Sara and Paulie!
So sick! Been a fan of Sara’s work for years. Glad to see her get a Walkie-talkie.
These kids are lucky to have Sara. In 20/30 years they will look back and see clear and bright images to remind them of their past. Maybe breakups and painful moments will be arisen by looking at them, but they will feel something special that nobody else could catch.
Watching someone talk about their path of self reflection and that they finaly feel like themselve through this wonderfull process of walking trough streets and thoughts and taking pictures of what meets the eye and heart is so so beautiful
She's fantastic. Whatever skills or talent or mindset you need to be a great photographer, she's got.
Oh man I love her! What an exciting drop!
It’s very inspiring as a 23 year old street photographer who’s been doing for around 2 years to hear the same kind of insecurities from such a great photographer like Sara! Keep up the great work Paulie!
One of the best walkie talkie's yet. Big fan of her work, so glad you featured her!
The best thing about this format of videos is getting to know people with cameras like Sara; real people that you can relate to for their human being and perspective of the world by photography. Love his passion and process of being and introvert but wanting to be out there capturing life. GREAT EPISODE!!
Sara's perspective and work, especially of the teens she met in the park, is SO beautiful. I'm not typically a street photographer but this video single handedly made me go out and take street photos yesterday and it was maybe the most fun I've ever had taking photos. I might be hooked.
This was one of the most enjoyable interviews and good job keeping the format of walkie talkie similar for everybody it helps as a viewer. Sara seems like a lovely human and this humanity glows from her work , its hard to believe she only started before Covid but its her personality that shines through most of all and what she sees.
20:42 "I feel like when you're making your best images, it's when your subconscious takes over. Your brain shuts off and your heart takes over. And that's when you're making images that feel like a reflection of yourself, and that's what it's all about." I strongly connect with this!
One of the best. Loved this ep and Sara’s work so much. Super genuine
“Photography is the exchanging of hearts” I love that ✨
What an inspiring and kind and genuine story. I so love this series. Keep going!
Another awesome ep, Paulie. Sara, your embrace of vulnerability is inspiring. It just goes to show that being a good human being interested in others gets the work.
Probably my favorite one of these I’ve seen so far. One of my favorite photographers for sure.
Love these walkie talkies! These photographers come across like poets. I was very into photography in high school and lost track. But I've recently begun to get back into it, and I'm finding this series to be very inspirational. Thank you!
There was a time 25 years ago where St. Mark's Place would have been a street photographer's dream. It just goes to show how downhill it went when you and Sara just walked passed it without taking a single shot.
Great talk and I love Sara’s work. But I wish there was some kind of discussion about balancing life/finances as a street photographer. Like you touched on assignments, but does she make a living from editorial day rates? Does she have another job to pay the bills? How’s she able to afford living in NYC as a street photographer? How’s she able to walk around the city for most of the day and pay for film/development while shooting with a $3K camera? How’s she’s able to afford 2 month trips to Mexico to make personal work? I know this sounds like I’m hating or something but I’m really just curious about the practicalities of working as a photographer, especially if you’re not doing a bunch of commercial work
a lot of it is grants, a lot of the times, debt.
if i had to take a guess, rich parents
Thank you Sara! I loved learning about your perspective and journey. I'm not into the characteristic male street photographer vibe that is "gotcha" photography. It's beautiful to hear your more connected, heartfelt process, I'm inspired :)
Thanks Sara and Paulie for doing this. This was an episode I was always hoping for. It's such a great conversation. Sara is one of the best. Thanks for sharing this!
i have been waiting for this one ! Have been a huge fan of Sara's work and it's really awesome to hear her talk about it.
Probably my favorite episode so far, I really love Sara‘s work. Thank you so much for this Paulie!
Paulie sir this one is awesome I love your style especially on the documentary side..love her images she has lots of talent...keep up the good work
This is the first video from you I’ve seen in my recommended. I moved away from NY a few years ago, and hearing Sara talk about the city-and photographing the city-like this made me feel so warm. Thanks very much to you both.
"A responsibility involved". So well said. I see a lot of folks cramming a camera in peoples space and privacy. There is a difference between taking versus sharing.
Wow...Sara's photography is awesome! This has to be one of your top "Walkie Talkies" Paulie...good work!
Been waiting for this one for so long, Sara is truly an amazing photographer her work is just incredible.
There really is no place like New York. You’re all so lucky to live there. Great video. Another fascinating photographer.
So good! Fan of Sara work for awhile now!
This was so much fun to watch, thanks for making it. Sara is such a legend.
I appreciate how often you post and put up great content. Best film photography channel, hands down.
Street Photography is like a window into like another world, Like capturing moments like fleeting whispers Like frozen in time. It's like a painter's brush, Like weaving colors and emotions onto like the canvas of like reality. Like through the like lens, we see life unfold like chapters in a never-ending like story, each like frame a new like adventure waiting to be like discovered.
Best hair on the channel!
I love this episode. As a fellow shy person/photographer working on getting bolder, this resonates a lot 🙏 so inspiring!!
Love these videos, but this has been the most Inspirational one so far. What an amazing young woman Sara is.
Great video (again) and i think Sara is very inspiring. Love her work! Thanks Paulie!!
Inspired and great work, Sara! Always look forward to new episodes. My favorite channel! 📷
Paulie, these walkie talkies are my favorite series on youtube. These are the most wholesome conversations I've been able to hear. What Sara talks about at 10:53 really resonates with me and probably a lot of us.
Nice to meet Sara, interesting and funny girl. Great artist.

i do the same thing if i’m caught in a strangers selfie 😂
Love that first photo you showed of hers
Liked this episode a lot. Had not been familiar with Sara's work, and glad to see you featuring more women.
Walkie Talkie time!
Also loved this one!
I grew up in South Jersey 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia so I completely understand her pain. Philly is an underrated city to photograph though.
She has such an interesting and refreshing approach
That was great.
Sara Messinger's photographs are beautiful in color.
Inspiring.
These are fantastic pictures;
Love getting here early
For such a young person, she is wise beyond her years.
Phoenix, AZ
such an amazing soul
love! blessings!
Walking & talking with people + snapping with a camera = Priceless.
Not in this episode lol, no snappy
Perfect timing something to watch with my silog breakfast! Haha
Legend
I would like to pre-order the teen project photobook. Beautiful work.
This was really informative, amazing work both of you…
POWERZ!💪🏾🕺🏿
Magical !!!
Good episode. Paulie, can you feature some Gen X photographers? I think it would be very helpful to get the perspectives from photographers who have been shooting for decades.
Awesome ❤👍
The women photogs you've had on have been so inspiring, they are more passionate for the craft, Love this --- She's amazing too--- Great work Paulie!!!!!
Sarah, such a master!
Very honest and inspiring talk; thanks very much for this! Interesting camera btw: an M4 without a self timer?
Probably an MD chassi and/or early M4-2. Should be very late serial number indicating late production and a notch on the left side of the shutter opening inside the camera, designed for the data strip. Rare if so.
