Everyone chill. For those critiquing at home, this isn’t a performance of the song. This is a sound & line check. A ‘run thru’. A rehearsal; more for the crew, than for the musicians. All that gear has to work every time ‘all that time’. The sound engineers are mixing & adjusting & tuning a very complex system of ear monitoring, frequencies, feedback, etc. So then later, they’ll all dress funky and perform the material.
love soundcheck performances as the musicians offer up some variations, more relaxed and the crew can get their checks and balances done. Cracking version
Interestingly, I recall him discussing how playing and singing eventually become so connected in muscle memory that he sometimes finds it harder to only play bass without also singing the lyrics.
@@fontbot True, I wonder do schools keep us still on purpose? And I don't suppose all schooling is to produce innovative people capable of independent livelihood.
Listening to previous versions of this song, that’s exactly not what the drummer is doing. People waiting for the Colaiuta fireworks mights be disappointed but it’s just a very sober style of no nonsense playing. Technically you can’t compare the two styles but both serve the songs.
Thank you for this real documentary of what a professional stage is, I really appreciated to see every single cab, light, stomp and all the microphones. Very technical, thank you so much from a musician point of view ❤
He's been doing this for years, regardless of the tempo. I realised this a couple of years ago already. I was a huge Police fan back in the 80s and I also loved Blue Turtles to bits (along with the live album) but after Nothing Like The Sun I lost sight of him, only occasionally checking out what he did in the meantime (of which I really, really love some stuff). Which is to say I didn't catch the gradual changes over the years, I mostly have snapshots to compare and any changes become much more noticeable this way. And a couple of years ago I realised that he had started to slur his words. Even in interviews he can sound somewhat mumbly. I'm not sure if I would have caught that if he still had been a constant presence in my life all this time.
Who's the total slice of a drummer totally overplaying everything? Ruined the whole this with that stupid 1/2 kick drum note constantly through the song. Keep it simples mate, that's what the song needs.
One of my favorite Sting songs.
I've always loved All this time since it came out in 1991...32 years on...Time flies

and Sting’s sound check is better than allot of today’s acts shows.

Never underestimate how tricky it is to play bass and sing at the same time ! Love this song 🎵
Andy and Stewart weren't impressed. So he tried harder.

He is NOTHING without ANDY !!
Sorry Dominic...close but NO CIGAR !!
Superb! The editing is giving me a headache though.
This song is a masterpiece.
I really, really like this version. The tempo gives it a different vibe. Such a pretty melody, it gives me chills!
This is the same tempo as the record basically, the drummer is just overplaying.

Did a trainee do the video edits? Felt like it was spliced from 6-7 flies wearing GoPros.😆

Who’s on drums
Sting is a mint Bass Guitarist. He's deffo had his monies worth out of that Tele Bass of his.
What a great songwritter he was!
Was? He’s still alive you know!
@@John-df1nr He's lost his songwriting mojo though. His last album was crap.
Who's the drummer??
Josh Freese?
The drummer is zach jones
Surprised Sting didn’t tell the drummer to calm down a bit. Quicker than the great Manu groove
...and tune his drums, the snare sounds sloppy in my opinion 🙄
Okay I'm glad someone pointed that out. Bro needs to find that pocket and sit there.
Boogie Squad. All those Lonestars on stage gonna create a black hole and swallow the earth
Great song....Camera work totally sucks though 😝
His thumb is out but his voice is
Where's Dominic Miller?

Way too busy on the kick,Jesus! And way too fast!!!!!!!!Feel completely gone!

They wanted lunch !
slow down camera guy, I'm dizzy.
the cameraman was in a hurry! why? my eyes hurt! common man!
Drummer playing Achilles Last Stand
yikes... what happened to his band?!
Camera man…… slow down….l
Too fast, he’s slurring words

The drums are so sloppy on this. The kick is so busy too. This isn’t Stings regular drummer.
completely lifeless time to kill off corporate music best music comes from grass roots
Horrible camera work
I can't get behind this version of this band
same
Yeah the drums sound rushed.. Vinnie made the difference
Manu Katche
@@fragglerock5696the drums on the album was Manu Katché, however, Vinnie Colaiuta is great as well.
Hard cuts= 1980s bad editing

What a Poor drummer!!! Sting I think you can afford someone better .🤷♂
Yeah wheres Vinnie?
Who plays the Drums.....Josh?
That’s Zach Jones on the drums.
I wonder if this means Josh Freese is the new Foo drummer.
@@baybae92 good guess... turns out he is
@@noelghallager4672 Ha! I thought of this post as soon as I heard. My sleuthing served me right 😈
