I had beats solo 2 and they broke 9 fucking times in a year. Every time i went to the store where i bought them and they gave me new ones. Have to say build quality in that model is just shit. 7 times right side stopped working and 2 times battery just died.
My left hinge just broke last week. I ordered a 15 dollar hinge on Amazon. Took it apart and fixed it myself. Probably the best solution if you are out of warranty.

@@ThahnG413 I would argue good is about (from an audio hobbyists perspective) the actual tuning and quality of the speakers. Now don’t get me wrong, Beats aren’t good for that either (too much bass, and highs hardly exist), but I personally doubt your $15 headphones have anything but mids.
Ironically, I had this happen to what I thought was a fake pair of headphones a very long time ago. Maybe 8 years ago? I'm not entirely sure if they we're fake though. My HTC phone said that I can increase my bass or audio quality or something because they were beats (HTC owned 51% of the company at the time btw) And they also didn't sound awful...
Mine just broke after about 1.5 years. The right ear stopped working on the wireless setting. I took them in to the apple store and they flat out told me it was a malfunctioning chip dealing with the Bluetooth setting and that it was nothing I did. But I was out of warranty so it was either send them to be fixed for 129$ or buy a new pair. They told me to sell my malfunctioning pair to a third party website to help afford new ones. Long story short, I’m switching to Sony headphones.
I've had my solo 3s for a year. I use them nearly every day while sitting, walking around, and at the gym. The only thing I've had to replace are the ear cushions due to the sweat, which was fairly inexpensive and expected

The sound and all is great but if you have big ears this is not for you for sure. The price yes its overpriced when it released ngl. But i think this should be around 100-150 $ fair price. Mine got few scratches and i dropped them like many times and they still look fine lol idkn about this guy but mine are great.
I know this video is old, but since this also happened to my Solo's I too want to help spread awareness to how crappy and overpriced beats are. Luckily I could still wear mine, they just didn't stay folded/extended on their own anymore. They stopped working all together about a month later. Thanks for sharing
You go to a different store buy the same pair then go in right after within an hour and tell them you want a refund but give them the broken headphones and you keep the good ones, I have been doing this for decades from headphones, MPC players, electronic devices, at supermarkets no staff ever questions Me they just look at the receipt and refund Me. Sometimes they wont refund but they do let Me just go grab a different pair off the shelf so now I have two working pairs instead of one good and one broken, still a win.
I bought the beats ep a year ago. I have not had any issues with them. They are probably the cheapest beats that you can buy. I am very satisfied with the overall build quality and the sound quality is very good. The frame of the beats ep is partially made up of aluminium

Same happen to my friend's solo3. I almost pick one for myself. Luckily, I decided to go for skullcandy cruher wireless. I'm using it more than a year now and it still works perfectly fine. It's my daily headphone by the way.
Yeah, your mileage may vary definitely applies here. I've had Solo3's for almost 4 years and have never had an issue with mine. I may have gotten a golden sample and I use them fairly lightly. I charge them maybe once every two weeks or so.

Had mine for over 2 years, they survived multiple crashes on my longboard going about 30mph falling off my head. The only problem I've had is replacing the ear pads 2 times. Other than that I love them.

Lisa Waller you have 1 year warranty. Just go to the store you bought them and they will take care of it. At least that's what I did but I'm located in the Netherlands so it may be different
Just got a pair of these from a lot of headphones from shopgoodwill, 12 pairs of headphones, mostly junk for $40 total including 3 pairs of beats, 2 wired and these. Im impressed for the value that I paid. Surprisingly the battery and ear muffs are both readily available and easy to replace. Listening on them now, and they are still rocking.
My beats solo 3 wireless headphones shuts down everytime if the temperature is minus degrees outside. It doesn't matter if it's minus two degrees or minus fifteen degrees. Every *ucking time, full battery and still. Headphones are six months old, and now my volum and stop buttons stopped working. I'm so pissed off! My solos broke in the exact same manner. I wear them everyday when I work out and they cracked at the same spot. I called the dealer and they would not fix them because they were out of warranty. I'm now looking into how to fix these myself since I paid over $300 for them.
Beats build quality does not represent Apple's, at all. Solo 3s, have the hinge issue. Studio 2s, have the hinge issue. Do not fold them if you want to avoid this issue. I know stupid, but quality of hinges is just bad. Loss of sound in one cup does happen, especially with Razer, which is another brand I strongly advise avoiding. If you buy any Beats products, always opt in for the extended warranty.

Had my beats for almost 6 months now never had a problem hearing wise and condition Bluetooth works great still i dont really put them in the soft case because its worthless it will eventually break if you toss them around also if you dont want the broken headphones you should give it away or sell it i would b willing to buy
I've had a very similar problem on my first pair and I think I know why mines broke: it's the case it comes with. It's a tight squeeze to put it in and out of it so I tried getting a hard case where it's not folded into or constricted at all. It's been 9 months now and my second pair still works great. So if you get these headphones DO NOT use the case it comes.

Rune these aren’t the EPs so you can’t compare the two. My iphone 4 had antenna problems that my iPhone 5 didn’t have so I couldn’t just say my iPhone 5 never had issues, just take care of your iPhone 4.

+Rune I’m not quite sure you see my point. When I use said device and one of the ears goes out just because, it has nothing to do with taking care of it. It is a common issue with Solo 3s. You are suggesting that thousands of people just don’t take care of their device like you do. This issue is widespread. It’s a manufacturing issue. Check the Apple site. You can’t compare your ep with the solo. And the ip4 was 100% a design flaw. That’s why they changed the design in the ip5. Look up antennagate.
When I got my beats solo 3 rose gold, in 8 months the right ear broke. Funny enough it took 2 months of calling the beats service. The first attempt of taking it to post office, they gave us the wrong barcode. So we had to restart and get right back onto them. It took 1 month for apple to call us back. Only today in October when we were calling them in September and got them mailed off. I seriously want my beats back in the time period they told us: 3 to 10 days. The service is quite terrible. The headphones are fragile and too expensive.
Honestly I’m very disappointed about how the same thing happened to me only one speaker was working and I took it to the store because I had a warranty on them but when I got them back it looked good as new but then 1 mouth later it broke again and I was soo devastated. So I totally agree with you and thank you for making this cuz I thought I was the only one going through this🤦🏽♂️.

Made the mistake of buying a set of these at Sam's Club. Needed to use them in a pro/wired connection, so, of course, there is a consumer mini plug on the end of the cable. Then, after using an adapter, found that the sound "quality" is atrocious! (My KOSS phones sound SOOOO much better. ) So, back to the store the Beats go, for a refund.

2022, had my beats for over 3 years and the are Beat up, but still love them. Replacing the head bar and cushions at the moment. Expecting another 2-3 years out of them.
Mine are still working tho and yeah i really hate that wire that is exposed when you fold em means you just need to turn them a little bit and there you get a broken beats
I have the solo 2 and my sister has the solo 3 and they both broke in that same joint. They wanted a hundred dollars to fix them. I popped them open put the bar back in the slide with a little gorilla glue. Done deal!!! I will share photos later...the ones that Ive had over 13 years are the first beats pro. They don't have all that plastic like the second gen. I've only replaced the headband the replaceable ear pads and the cord which is detachable. They still sound great. Bose are great about replacing their product. I've had two replacements in less than a year. The trim around the bud started coming off on the first pair and then I dropped the replacements at work and ran over the cord. No problem they said after having me send a pic. They had me send them in And then sent a fresh pair again. The bose sport.
I have the rose gold solo 3’s and had to use my warrantee to replace them once because the sound went out in 1 ear for no reason. Also, the leather around the ears comes out but it can be pushed back in, but why should I have to? I would t but the solos again but I’ve just purchased the studio’s.

I always buy the accidental damage warranty from best buy. They usually just tell you to grab a new pair from the shelf if something's wrong. I've been paying 10 dollars for my Bose in ears every two years. I also get them on black Friday for 49 dollars which is what I think they're worth.

I am def with u on this one, I dont think I could recommend or buy beats again, not unless some serious quality issues are addressed, and possibly made good on out of warranty headphones. If u looked at my headphones they look like i just opened the package up, yet one ear not working after about 20 hours use at best. I mostly use my earbuds and those are bose but they are almost 2 years old and 0 issues.
Check out bluedio , amazing headphones really good sound quality , mine i’ve had for 2 years & lasts up to weeks without charging them and best thing about it is you can get them less than $25
My beats solos 3 stopped working a week after the warranty. Thankfully after much wrangling over the phone and getting proof of purchase with the date on it etc I have managed to get Apple to repair it. Won’t be getting another pair though. Before I managed to convince Apple to repair the dam things I got some £16 cheap ones off eBay. I’m half expecting them to sound better lol
You can fix them yourself, just buy the hinge for 20 bucks on amazon or ebay and watch a YT video for the instructions. It only takes 10-15min and a lot cheaper than buying a new one w Apple. Btw this is pretty common on beats, so replacement parts are dmn cheap w good manufacturers like 3M

I’ve had my beats solo 3 since the end of 8th grade currently as sophomore and I haven’t had a single problem with them, dropped them a bunch, nothing seems wrong with it , I’ve put it through days of work, like 3 hours of constant heat (don’t know if they could mess it up) but nonetheless I haven’t had a problem with it , granted I do try and take good care of it but the worst I’ve had with them is I got the white pair the inside ear piece from sweat and dirt and things got a little dirty and the inside isn’t white anymore, but other than that they’ve worked great, I’m sorry to hear your experiences with these headphones weren’t good but I love my beats
I’ve had my ultra violet beats for a long time now and they still work. I wouldn’t put them in the case because the soft case is too small for the headphones. That’s what your problem was
I’m watching this in 2022. My beats stopped working after 2 months. I’m a casual wearer, usually using them at night for a couple of hours. Here in the U.K. they were bought from a large electrical store (Curry’s) and contacted them to be fixed. It took several long emails and excuses as to why I needed to take them back to the store. I bought them online so wanted them returned the same way as I have disabilities that stop me getting out too often and especially to a super busy retail park with not so good disabled parking. To cut a long story short I wanted just over a week and they were returned…unfixed. They claimed I must have broken them. Sound familiar? After lots of to and froing I eventually accepted defeat. I was devastated as I paid a lot for them as I needed them to last me a while. My point is you could have made this video today and it would be exactly the same result after 4yrs. How do they get away with it? I feel bad for you but worse for your kids. They must have been so excited and happy to receive them and then this. So nothing changes and they are raking in the cash 😡.
Every time I connect to Bluetooth my right channel stops working but when I use the aux it performs flawlessly, every time I get a pair of beats something’s wrong 🤷🏾♂️
Hey man. I was having the same problem with my Beats Solo3. I solved it by plugin the cable on Beats then turning it around. When you connect on BT again it should be solved.
What headphones would you recommend? I am hesitant to buy the beats headphones simply because of the cost. I like the built of beats solo3 but the cost is concerning.

Yup solos suck. All 6 pair of ours broke like this. The studios suck, they all cracked on the panels. I refuse to buy anymore Beats at this point. I've bought 9 pair. That's enough foolery for me
I've had some SolRepublic Tracks since 2012. They cost about $100. The headband is a one piece unbreakable plastic. I did replace the cord a couple times but that was maybe 10 bucks each and it uses mini plugs so it's very easy to swap cords. So yeah 9 years of gigs and I just used them over the weekend DJing. Probably never have to replace them at the rate I'm going.
And this is exactly why I purchased the Bose QC 35 II. First of all, their ANC technology is superior to Beats, and there is nowhere near the reported problems as with these trashy things. The base price between the Beats Studio 3 and the QC 35ii is pretty much negligible. You buy Beats if you’re more interested in style than build quality. You buy Bose or Sony if you want an actual quality product.

My beats solo 3 have failed as well, 1 month after the warranty was up. The Left ear stopped working then the earphones stopped working altogether. Apple wants basically asking price to fix them, obviously to replace them because they are not worth it. So I totally agree with this review. I am deeply disappointed because I loved my beats, but cannot afford to replace them once a year.

I work at amazon warehouse and they gave me this headphones for free. Out of 500+ workers. Only 4 of us won. It’s was a raffle btw
Same happen to my friend's solo3. I almost pick one for myself. Luckily, I decided to go for skullcandy cruher wireless. I'm using it more than a year now and it still works perfectly fine. It's my daily headphone by the way.
Yeah, your mileage may vary definitely applies here. I've had Solo3's for almost 4 years and have never had an issue with mine. I may have gotten a golden sample and I use them fairly lightly. I charge them maybe once every two weeks or so.
I bought beats solo 3 3 months ago and a few weeks ago the same thing happens to me but I returned them and got a new one. I’m still afraid that it’ll happen again😥
To be honest I returned them 2 time in only 3 months. The first time one ear wasn’t working and then it brocke. I just wish I never bought them. I spend 269 euros 😭
I didn't have problems with sound on the studio wireless. The pleather on them is coming off though on it. Other than that, it still works.
I’ve own beats since 2010 and as soon as apple started owning them, i’ve been buying a pair every year. I dont wanna change to a different brand bcuz i love beats but they really do get shorts often and the brackets break🤦🏽♀️
Had mine for over 2 years, they survived multiple crashes on my longboard going about 30mph falling off my head. The only problem I've had is replacing the ear pads 2 times. Other than that I love them.

Lisa Waller you have 1 year warranty. Just go to the store you bought them and they will take care of it. At least that's what I did but I'm located in the Netherlands so it may be different

Just got a pair of these from a lot of headphones from shopgoodwill, 12 pairs of headphones, mostly junk for $40 total including 3 pairs of beats, 2 wired and these. Im impressed for the value that I paid. Surprisingly the battery and ear muffs are both readily available and easy to replace. Listening on them now, and they are still rocking.

My beats solo 3 wireless headphones shuts down everytime if the temperature is minus degrees outside. It doesn't matter if it's minus two degrees or minus fifteen degrees. Every *ucking time, full battery and still. Headphones are six months old, and now my volum and stop buttons stopped working. I'm so pissed off! I paid 219€ for my headphones, the worst mistake of my life!

I have Solo 3s and have never had a problem I have had mine for about 2 years now and use them every day I think their perfect but I will say within those 2 1/2 years I bought the beats X and those had a manufacturing defect that has not and will never be fixed you’ll just wake up one day and they’ll just not turn on this happened about a year a little less than a year when I bought them

My solos broke in the exact same manner. I wear them everyday when I work out and they cracked at the same spot. I called the dealer and they would not fix them because they were out of warranty. I'm now looking into how to fix these myself since I paid over $300 for them.
Beats build quality does not represent Apple's, at all.
Solo 3s, have the hinge issue.
Studio 2s, have the hinge issue.
Do not fold them if you want to avoid this issue. I know stupid, but quality of hinges is just bad.
Loss of sound in one cup does happen, especially with Razer, which is another brand I strongly advise avoiding. If you buy any Beats products, always opt in for the extended warranty.

Mine have lasted several years (at least since 2016) and I’m only just fixing up the headband and ear pads now because they still work like a dream!

I've had a very similar problem on my first pair and I think I know why mines broke: it's the case it comes with. It's a tight squeeze to put it in and out of it so I tried getting a hard case where it's not folded into or constricted at all. It's been 9 months now and my second pair still works great. So if you get these headphones DO NOT use the case it comes.

+Rune I’m not quite sure you see my point. When I use said device and one of the ears goes out just because, it has nothing to do with taking care of it. It is a common issue with Solo 3s. You are suggesting that thousands of people just don’t take care of their device like you do. This issue is widespread. It’s a manufacturing issue. Check the Apple site. You can’t compare your ep with the solo. And the ip4 was 100% a design flaw. That’s why they changed the design in the ip5. Look up antennagate.

When I got my beats solo 3 rose gold, in 8 months the right ear broke. Funny enough it took 2 months of calling the beats service. The first attempt of taking it to post office, they gave us the wrong barcode. So we had to restart and get right back onto them. It took 1 month for apple to call us back. Only today in October when we were calling them in September and got them mailed off. I seriously want my beats back in the time period they told us: 3 to 10 days. The service is quite terrible. The headphones are fragile and too expensive.
Honestly I’m very disappointed about how the same thing happened to me only one speaker was working and I took it to the store because I had a warranty on them but when I got them back it looked good as new but then 1 mouth later it broke again and I was soo devastated. So I totally agree with you and thank you for making this cuz I thought I was the only one going through this🤦🏽♂️.

Made the mistake of buying a set of these at Sam's Club. Needed to use them in a pro/wired connection, so, of course, there is a consumer mini plug on the end of the cable. Then, after using an adapter, found that the sound "quality" is atrocious! (My KOSS phones sound SOOOO much better. )
So, back to the store the Beats go, for a refund.
I have had mine for 3 months and they are still amazing no complaints

2022, had my beats for over 3 years and the are Beat up, but still love them. Replacing the head bar and cushions at the moment. Expecting another 2-3 years out of them.

I have the solo 2 and my sister has the solo 3 and they both broke in that same joint. They wanted a hundred dollars to fix them. I popped them open put the bar back in the slide with a little gorilla glue. Done deal!!! I will share photos later...the ones that Ive had over 13 years are the first beats pro. They don't have all that plastic like the second gen. I've only replaced the headband the replaceable ear pads and the cord which is detachable. They still sound great. Bose are great about replacing their product. I've had two replacements in less than a year. The trim around the bud started coming off on the first pair and then I dropped the replacements at work and ran over the cord. No problem they said after having me send a pic. They had me send them in And then sent a fresh pair again. The bose sport.
I have the rose gold solo 3’s and had to use my warrantee to replace them once because the sound went out in 1 ear for no reason. Also, the leather around the ears comes out but it can be pushed back in, but why should I have to? I would t but the solos again but I’ve just purchased the studio’s.

I always buy the accidental damage warranty from best buy. They usually just tell you to grab a new pair from the shelf if something's wrong. I've been paying 10 dollars for my Bose in ears every two years. I also get them on black Friday for 49 dollars which is what I think they're worth.

I am def with u on this one, I dont think I could recommend or buy beats again, not unless some serious quality issues are addressed, and possibly made good on out of warranty headphones. If u looked at my headphones they look like i just opened the package up, yet one ear not working after about 20 hours use at best. I mostly use my earbuds and those are bose but they are almost 2 years old and 0 issues.

My beats solos 3 stopped working a week after the warranty.
Thankfully after much wrangling over the phone and getting proof of purchase with the date on it etc I have managed to get Apple to repair it.
Won’t be getting another pair though.

You can fix them yourself, just buy the hinge for 20 bucks on amazon or ebay and watch a YT video for the instructions. It only takes 10-15min and a lot cheaper than buying a new one w Apple.
Btw this is pretty common on beats, so replacement parts are dmn cheap w good manufacturers like 3M

I had the original beats solos and they worked fine for roughly 2 years and they worked great until i broke them by throwing them out of anger (about something else)
On a second note, Apple has a back to school sale for college students where if you buy an Apple computer or iPad you can get free beats solo 3

I’ve had my beats solo 3 since the end of 8th grade currently as sophomore and I haven’t had a single problem with them, dropped them a bunch, nothing seems wrong with it , I’ve put it through days of work, like 3 hours of constant heat (don’t know if they could mess it up) but nonetheless I haven’t had a problem with it , granted I do try and take good care of it but the worst I’ve had with them is I got the white pair the inside ear piece from sweat and dirt and things got a little dirty and the inside isn’t white anymore, but other than that they’ve worked great, I’m sorry to hear your experiences with these headphones weren’t good but I love my beats

I’ve had my ultra violet beats for a long time now and they still work. I wouldn’t put them in the case because the soft case is too small for the headphones. That’s what your problem was

I’m watching this in 2022. My beats stopped working after 2 months. I’m a casual wearer, usually using them at night for a couple of hours. Here in the U.K. they were bought from a large electrical store (Curry’s) and contacted them to be fixed. It took several long emails and excuses as to why I needed to take them back to the store. I bought them online so wanted them returned the same way as I have disabilities that stop me getting out too often and especially to a super busy retail park with not so good disabled parking. To cut a long story short I wanted just over a week and they were returned…unfixed. They claimed I must have broken them. Sound familiar? After lots of to and froing I eventually accepted defeat. I was devastated as I paid a lot for them as I needed them to last me a while. My point is you could have made this video today and it would be exactly the same result after 4yrs. How do they get away with it? I feel bad for you but worse for your kids. They must have been so excited and happy to receive them and then this. So nothing changes and they are raking in the cash 😡.
Every time I connect to Bluetooth my right channel stops working but when I use the aux it performs flawlessly, every time I get a pair of beats something’s wrong 🤷🏾♂️

Hey man. I was having the same problem with my Beats Solo3. I solved it by plugin the cable on Beats then turning it around. When you connect on BT again it should be solved.
Well I have Powerbeats 3 use them every single day working out, had them for almost 2 years and they’re in perfect condition.

Yup solos suck. All 6 pair of ours broke like this. The studios suck, they all cracked on the panels. I refuse to buy anymore Beats at this point. I've bought 9 pair. That's enough foolery for me

I've had some SolRepublic Tracks since 2012. They cost about $100. The headband is a one piece unbreakable plastic. I did replace the cord a couple times but that was maybe 10 bucks each and it uses mini plugs so it's very easy to swap cords. So yeah 9 years of gigs and I just used them over the weekend DJing. Probably never have to replace them at the rate I'm going.
And this is exactly why I purchased the Bose QC 35 II. First of all, their ANC technology is superior to Beats, and there is nowhere near the reported problems as with these trashy things. The base price between the Beats Studio 3 and the QC 35ii is pretty much negligible. You buy Beats if you’re more interested in style than build quality. You buy Bose or Sony if you want an actual quality product.

My beats solo 3 have failed as well, 1 month after the warranty was up. The Left ear stopped working then the earphones stopped working altogether. Apple wants basically asking price to fix them, obviously to replace them because they are not worth it. So I totally agree with this review. I am deeply disappointed because I loved my beats, but cannot afford to replace them once a year.
