    I had my first EMDR session last week, and I was so surprised how light I felt at the end of the session. I'm trying not to place any expectations on the process yet I can't help but catch myself feeling excited and empowered that hopefully in 7 sessions, I will be more grounded, stable, feel safe and secure again.

    I will be starting emdr soon. I’ve been traumatized for 2 years after the death of my dad and dating an abusive person. For a year I didn’t really leave my house, had no desire to be around people, I skipped the holidays. Was an emotional mess. I also couldn’t work. I moved back home. I’m slightly better but I feel emdr is much needed. I want my life back and I don’t wanna live in fear anymore and have lots of panic attacks

      That's the relationship abuse, not the death of your father. Domestic abusers commonly leave their abuse-targets with PTSD. In fact, it's precisely why they abuse people so they can destroy your life and tear you down to nothing. They know they're going to do this to you the moment they first walk up to you. Seriously.

    I wish that if you’re hesitant, you take your time to go at your pace, I was scare to start my first session.
    I was left with peace and hope to finish my sessions around other triggers, but my symptoms have become small now and livable for the moment where I feel powerful and happy and hopeful to tackle my other symptoms along with my stories, and leave them all behind.
    I have done three sessions, and I sometimes don’t even recognize myself with how wonderful my experience has been getting through the storm. I still have some triggers that I need to work with, it doesn’t leave me crippled with fear and anxiety like it used to, I feel strong and powerful knowing that I’m gonna tackle the rest with gentleness and love and compassion.

      How do you feel today?

    • @ederm971
      @ederm971 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Julian Bashir - Hey Julian, I’m feeling raw with grief and anger right now, but it’s really over, the trauma I suffered around someone’s death is subsiding.
      A lot of things that were getting in the way of living my life are disappearing, and begin to feel fulfilled, more authentic myself, but that because I’m facing my reality and the nature of many raw emotions, that happened to me, and the things I witnessed.
      It’s temporary what you feel, but it leaves a different aspect on life and you begin to see life differently because the brain begins to process all of that information in a different manner.
      Put it this way, your brain is suffering from a lot of misfiled and misplaced information that it begins to spin and suffer, and EMDR is like a personal accountant that is gentle and helps you and encourages you to be who YOU are, the brain is constipated with information and it helps the brain to release the information in safe and secure files.

    • @julianbashir1235
      @julianbashir1235 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eder Maldonado How can you be sure if the EMDR really caused that change?

    • @ederm971
      @ederm971 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Julian Bashir good question, EMDR prepare the client’s mind (me) to go back to the trauma. Then the bilateral movement brings to focus on the trauma, reliving the trauma, collects all of the memories that splinter off in the mind, collects them, process them, then sends the emotions and experiences where it belongs.
      I was sexually assaulted, and I also had to relive the experience and story it as a memory. During the EMDR experience I felt two hands let go of my legs and I cried like I’ve never cried before, it felt liberating and it was scary to let that go, and the mind to let that go, that it was never my fault, and can live more authentically.
      EMDR is a process that takes the mind to that place, and process and store to keep there forever as a story, experience and that’s it, at least for me that is.

      emdrviv - do you need it weekly?
      I am a trauma survivor- so much of it that talk therapy is just not working.
      As I'M off work- literally too scared to go outdoors- money is an issue.
      Could you email me details please?

      @@elvismorina8686 Hi Elvis, sorry I didn't see your comment until now, and I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I understand and yes I can provide online emdr therapy, schedule permitting, and have dealt with similar cases. I think it's best if you schedule a free consultation via my website www.emdrviv.com to discuss more as I can answer all your questions in private.

    Where could I find a qualified therapist in my area? Petersburg Virginia 23805

    • @VivPhD
      @VivPhD  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Phelanisse, you can check the EMDRIA website which should have a list of qualified therapists in your area. Alternatively, you can look for online EMDR therapists through Google, such as myself. Just be sure they have completed an EMDRIA-approved training. I'll be publishing an article and video soon on how to select the best EMDR therapist so please subscribe to my youtube channel and newsletter www.emdrviv.com to stay informed of when it's published! Best of luck and let us know how it goes! :)
