    You're saving my life right now- even a year later. I just opened the tank to check and see what parts I would need after the toilet would not stop running. I had a complete bawling breakdown when I saw this unfamiliar cannister setup inside the tank. You're saving a single mom from having to pay someone to do what is essentially not a difficult job once you know what the parts are even called. You gave complete and detailed directions. No more tears over here. Thanks, again. You're a prince among men.

    Nice video. PS, you push the handle and release for fluids and you push the handle and hold it down until all the water in the tank flows out for solids. All of the new toilets pretty much work that way now... They save water if you push the lever and let go and only use the whole tank of water when you push the handle and hold it down, which provides more force, a longer flush and cleans the bowl better too.

      @Paisteboy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That had me confused when I purchased this part to replace the yellow disk that had broken in my tank. The packet identifies this replacement part as being for a single flush toilet. I always felt that this particular toilet was a dual flush because of the feature you've described. Apparently this toilet is not identified as a dual flush even though it has the "dual flush" feature accessible via a handle / lever rather than two separate flushing buttons. Happy to learn I've got the correct part.

    Nice, gotta repair mine today, glad to find your video. The yellow cap on ours cracked (the lift tube rocks and catches the yellow cap, repitition cracked the connection) Was thinking I'd have to buy the whole assembly but what you showed there looks like the only bit needed.

    My problem was simply that the rubber gasket at the bottom of the cylinder pops off sometimes if I don't use the toilet for a while. (I was just out of town / travelling for 8 months. I turn the water off to all of my fixtures whenever I leave town--at the angle stops--just to avoid something like a supply hose bursting while I'm gone for months at a time. When I got back, I turned on the supply, used the toilet, and @ the first flush, the rubber gasket at the bottom of the cyclinder--which had fused to the other side of the flush valve--pulled off the cylinder.) I wasn't sure how serviceable the flush valve was. Your video helped me figure it out. Easy, peasy. I just disassembled it the way you did--but just re-attached the rubber gasket onto the bottom of the cylinder--then reinstalled. All I needed was a little flashlight to see down into the bottom of the tank to line it all up. Thanks!

    Maybe I missed it, but did you say why you replaced the part? Was it running after the flush and not seating? That's what I have going on.

    • @Paisteboy
      @Paisteboy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cap broke off and it wasn't filling the tank properly. This is just one reason why you may need to replace this part. You may need the whole assembly for your issue which you can also see a link to in the description below.

    Can they be adapted to any Kohler toilet. Looks like a better design when you have well water. I have five toilets in my house with well water and I’m always changing the flapper cups. Do you think that would help with my problem. Thanks snow over and out

  • @rowdyron32

    Basically all that part is designed for is to hold the tube in place. So that the water flowing through that tube fills the toilet bowl. It actually has nothing to do with how it flushes. But at least you got the tube in place. ;-)
