Knoxville knitter here! I would 10/10 recommend the yarn tour to anyone local. It was so fun to see everyone and meet all the yarn shops people. Definitely so participate next year if you can
Once a Texan, always a Texan…it’s not a road trip without a stop at Buc-ee’s for a treat/meal! You and Kent make an amazing team…especially loved the segment Kent’s Critter Friends 😂. And seeing all of the unique features of each individual yarn shop. So excited for your upcoming episodes/videos.
You had the right thought. That is a card catalog cabinet. Before computers and the internet, there was a card for every single book in the library and they were put in order of the Dewey decimal system. That is how you would find your book in the library. I would LOVE to have a card catalog cabinet. The library was one of my favorite places as a kid.
Yep, there were actually three cards for each book: title, author, and subject. And while school and public libraries use Dewey for both card and electronic catalogs, college and university libraries typically use the Library of Congress classification system. I'm fortunate to have two three-tier gorgeous oak and brass card catalogs that are they're useful for holding all kinds of items like paint and other art supplies, cookie cutters, and even bottles of wine! They take up a lot of room relative to how much they hold, but I'll never part with them. I love the little pull out shelves where you wrote down the number of your book. How great that you appreciate the cabinets too! I see them for sale on EBay and antique sites quite often, so I hope you're able to find one someday!
@@kalenreichert Ha! As a librarian nothing made me happier than the invention of electronic periodical databases, even when they were still CDs and index only. Looking up each year in books was sooo painful!
Lucky me I found a Dewey decimal card cabinet in a shopping cart at a department store without thought I loaded the old girl up cleaned her up added bun feet love it
Thank You Very Much, Natalie! Marvelous Selections & Styles !!!! 🧶👏🧶🤩🧶🥳🧶🤡🧶😁🧶. I’m primarily a crocheter , but with all those hand-dyed yarns; what a tremendous variety to choose from 💃. Glad you included local restaurants 🤗. Therese Pisarcik
Hi Natalie, I loved, loved this yarn tour video!! It’s so nice to see -and almost feel- the yarns through your eyes and your camera..! Thank you so much!
I have to say I absolutely loved following you around on your TN Yarn Tour. I want to go to each of these shops someday. This is by far one of your best videos. I can't wait for more yarn tours.
Absolutely loved this tour! Thank you for taking us along. I was really impressed with the Two Roots tour and their process to make yarn. Those pics of the Alpacas next to their yarn skeins made my heart melt...like I would seriously buy a skein from each...lol. 😊
Hi Natalie, loved coming along with you on the tour 🥰 thanks for bringing me with you all the way from Australia. I have a few beautiful yarn stores an hour or two from where I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland, and love to visit whenever I can. I used to live in Sydney and would visit a fantastic yarn store in the CBD. I miss the days when I could visit at least once a week on my lunch break. Glad that we have online stores and we can buy yarn from all over the world these days. My absolute dream would be to open a store that sells yarn and cupcakes. 🥰
Natalie and Kent, well done!! Your lovely and cheerful spirit was a beautiful pairing with the amazing yarns and scenery. I was very fascinated by the house-shops; it felt like one could drop in and hang out with friends for hours! The cozy cottage vibes were perfect when you sat in the rocking chair to knit, too 🤭 Also, THANK YOU KENT for humoring the critter lovers among us! 😁💗🧶🦙
This is great! I’m from Virginia but my son and daughter-in-law live in Knoxville so we travel to east TN quite often. Can’t wait to check out these places! 😊
Wow how amazing to have such a variety of stores all in one state!! I think there's barely more than 13 non big-box yarn stores in all of Australia. Luckily there are lots of small indie dyers that sell at markets quite regularly though.
Thank you so much for taking us along on this tour...this video has me soooo excited for all of your upcoming fiber adventures! I already have a list of yarn shops I am making based on your videos so that I can do some yarn store travels, too! I don't know why, but the Kent's Critters segment made me laugh so much! If you can't figure out what to do with your yarn TN yarn tour minis, maybe some of the ones that are not made up of the same fiber content can be made into ornaments.
I just watched this with my mother. We’re from Europe and we are amazed with all the locally dyed yarns. Unfortunately that’s not really huge here. Keep up the good work. One of your best episodes so far.
Oh my goodness!! I loved watching this!! I didn’t want to miss a second of it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I’m going to watch it again 😀
This is such a fun event and partly in my area. Great yarn shops, ranches and fiber mills. Great yarn/fiber and yarn friends! Thanks so much for doing this tour in my back yard. Are you still in the area? You have a following here.
Thank you for doing slow shots of the yarn. I'm drooling. So many beautiful stores. In new Zealand it costs between $30 - $50 for 100gm of indie dyed yarn.
I`m so glad you made it to Crossville TN. The Yarn Patch is a great store. We have knitting and spinning groups meeting there and the owner is very accommodating.
Oh My God!!! You Have No Idea I Have Been Wanting To Know Where I Can Get Some Yarn ,.. My Step- Daughter Lives In Tennessee,.. Now I Can Get With Her And Send Her The Money To Get Me Some Yarn,. I'm From Louisiana,. They Don't Have The Kind Of Yarn I Need... Oh Thank You So Much For This Tutorial... 😁☺️👍💜🙂🙃😀😁💜😘☺️😊
❤🎉 “My” yarn stores are Clinch River and Loopville (honorable mention to The Yarn Patch and Hook & Needle). I feel so proud to see my neighbors’ hard work featured on your channel. 😍
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! I was so excited to see a yarn tour in beautiful Tennessee. No words can describe the beauty of those mountains! Great Job Gillian on the yarn tour! I hope there's one next year.
Thankyou so much for videoing the yarn tour in Tennessee. They were all amazing and I loved seeing the farms and the alpacas too. The flowing stream outside the balcony on one of your stays was so lovely. There was so many beautifully dyed yarns. Did you buy any? I am sure it was so hard not to if you didn't and would have been hard to choose if you did. The background country music for the video was great. Thankyou Natalie and Ken.
I loved seeing all the unique products in the store. That no store that raise alpacas and the make the yarn from them would be an interesting place to visit.
I loved this episode! Living in TN it is so great to see yarn stores I didn't know were here. I loved Kent's Critters, very fun! The only thing I would love to see maybe added in the future is highlighted map where we can get a visual of where in the State these stores are.... Especially as you are going to all the states. It may not be possible just a thought. Thank you for all the hard work and great episode you put together.
Loved this video! I visited TN for the first time in June, and while I didn't get to any yarn shops, I loved the area and beautiful scenery. I saw Fireflies for the first time and even stopped at that same Buc-ees. 😂 Thanks for taking us along with you guys!
Loving the music for this podcast!! Enjoying the yarn crawl as well, if I’m ever in TN I know where to go 😊 So sad, I was in Gatlinburg two christmas’ ago and the shops were closed due to the snow storm and power outage.
Nothing like beautiful yarn and a rushing stream to make my heart happy. Seriously I love water color m motion, it is very calming. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
