Example
B16, C16, D16
B curve for Resistive load like bulb, heater.
C curve for inductive loads like motors.
D curve for heavy inrush current devices like welding machines.
Note: intha 3 curve thavira other curves irukirathu, normalaga nam use panuvathillai.

VIR = Vulcanised India Rubber.
Means instead of PVC insulation Rubber is used. This is old type rarely used now.
Then you are confusing metric (sq mm) and old British single strand wires. (7/20, 1/18).
Copper is better conductor than aluminium.
For Underground service wire use aluminium and for overhead service use copper wire.

10 amps MCB suggestors please use C10, not B10, to avoid nusiance tripping.
As per Ohm's law 10 amps is correct , but practically and in reality 10 amps is not correct rating because our quality of supply is like that. Then as proof I have already tested 2kw with Variac @ 170 to 190 V, with combos of 10, 16 B & C curves, where B10 failed. C10 & B16 passed.
Correct rating is B12, but it's not manufactured.

Due to galvanic corrosion between aluminium and copper joints, during rainy season, supply will get disconnected. So for aluminium overhead line, service cable also should be aluminium in order to avoid the nusiance problem you mentioned.
