- At the tender age of 7, Maria became a survivor of child sexual abuse. The trauma she experienced had a profound impact on her life, leading her down a path of both self-destructive behaviors and overachievement as she struggled to cope as a teenager and adult.
Then, a turning point arrived in her life. Maria attended the Saprea Retreat, where she found a community of survivors, clinicians, and compassionate individuals who understood her pain and provided a safe space for healing. The retreat offered her the tools, support, and guidance she needed to navigate the complexities of her trauma, empowering her to reclaim her life and move towards a brighter future.
The Saprea Retreat, for women who were sexually abused as children or teens, is a clinically informed 4-day in-person experience followed by a self-guided online course. The retreat teaches about trauma’s impacts, provides opportunities to apply healing tools, and builds community among survivors. The in-person experience lays a foundation for healing that the online course builds on for deeper understanding and application.

Im so sorry this happened to you. I recently came out with sibling sexual abuse to my folks. My half sister sexually abused me when i was a child. Thank you so sharing your story. You are so strong. My other half sister did nothing to protect me from the abuser. This pain is so raw. I may forgive but will never forget . Its so hard. I feel sometimes i dont want to go on living. Its so hard to go on after SSA. Its the hardest to live by daily. Is there ever a happy ending to the child abuse victim such as myself? I do live in dc metro area. Are there any child abuse in the dmv area?
